No full textEl Área de Terapias Avanzadas y Tecnologías Biomédicas del instituto de Investigación Biosanitaria ibs.GRANADA organiza el V SIMPOSIO DE TERAPIAS AVANZADAS Y TECNOLOGÍAS BIOMÉDICAS. Tuvo lugar el martes 20 de diciembre de 2024 en el Salón de Actos la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Granada. El objetivo de este simposio es presentar las principales líneas de investigación llevadas a cabo en el área de las Terapias Avanzadas y las Tecnologías Biomédicas por grupos del ibs.GRANADA y grupos afines a estas áreas de conocimiento. El simposio supone una oportunidad para que investigadores y profesionales sanitarios puedan interaccionar y establecer nuevas líneas de colaboración y sinergias en el campo de las Terapias Avanzadas y las Tecnologías Biomédicas. Encorafenib and binimetinib followed by radiotherapy for patients with BRAF<SUP>V600</SUP>-mutant melanoma and brain metastases (E-BRAIN/GEM1802 phase II study)
No full textBackground. Encorafenib plus binimetinib (EB) is a standard-of-care treatment for advanced BRAF(V600)-mutant melanoma. We assessed the efficacy and safety of encorafenib plus binimetinib in patients with BRAF(V600)-mutant melanoma and brain metastasis (BM) and explored if radiotherapy improves the duration of response. Methods. E-BRAIN/GEM1802 was a prospective, multicenter, single-arm, phase II trial that enrolled patients with melanoma BRAF(V600)-mutant and BM. Patients received encorafenib 450 mg once daily plus binimetinib 45 mg BID, and those who achieved a partial response or stable disease at first tumor assessment were offered radiotherapy. Treatment continued until progression. Primary endpoint was intracranial response rate (icRR) after 2 months of EB, establishing a futility threshold of 60%. Results. The study included 25 patients with no BM symptoms and 23 patients with BM symptoms regardless of using corticosteroids. Among them, 31 patients (64.6%) received sequential radiotherapy. After 2 months, icRR was 70.8% (95% CI: 55.9-83.1); 10.4% complete response. Median intracranial progression-free survival (PFS) and OS were 8.5 (95% CI: 6.4-11.8) and 15.9 (95% CI: 10.7-21.4) months, respectively (8.3 months for icPFS and 13.9 months OS for patients receiving RDT). Most common grades 3-4 treatment-related adverse event was alanine aminotransferase (ALT) increased (10.4%). Conclusions. Encorafenib plus binimetinib showed promising clinical benefit in terms of icRR, and tolerable safety profile with low frequency of high-grade TRAEs, in patients with BRAFV600-mutant melanoma and BM, including those with symptoms and need for steroids. Sequential radiotherapy is feasible but it does not seem to prolong response.Ye

Biomarkers for personalised prevention of chronic diseases: a common protocol for three rapid scoping reviews.
No full textIntroduction: Personalised prevention aims to delay or avoid disease occurrence, progression, and recurrence of disease through the adoption of targeted interventions that consider the individual biological, including genetic data, environmental and behavioural characteristics, as well as the socio-cultural context. This protocol summarises the main features of a rapid scoping review to show the research landscape on biomarkers or a combination of biomarkers that may help to better identify subgroups of individuals with different risks of developing specific diseases in which specific preventive strategies could have an impact on clinical outcomes. This review is part of the "Personalised Prevention Roadmap for the future HEalThcare" (PROPHET) project, which seeks to highlight the gaps in current personalised preventive approaches, in order to develop a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda for the European Union.
Objective: To systematically map and review the evidence of biomarkers that are available or under development in cancer, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases that are or can be used for personalised prevention in the general population, in clinical or public health settings.
Methods: Three rapid scoping reviews are being conducted in parallel (February-June 2023), based on a common framework with some adjustments to suit each specific condition (cancer, cardiovascular or neurodegenerative diseases). Medline and Embase will be searched to identify publications between 2020 and 2023. To shorten the time frames, 10% of the papers will undergo screening by two reviewers and only English-language papers will be considered. The following information will be extracted by two reviewers from all the publications selected for inclusion: source type, citation details, country, inclusion/exclusion criteria (population, concept, context, type of evidence source), study methods, and key findings relevant to the review question/s. The selection criteria and the extraction sheet will be pre-tested. Relevant biomarkers for risk prediction and stratification will be recorded. Results will be presented graphically using an evidence map.
Inclusion criteria: Population: general adult populations or adults from specific pre-defined high-risk subgroups; concept: all studies focusing on molecular, cellular, physiological, or imaging biomarkers used for individualised primary or secondary prevention of the diseases of interest; context: clinical or public health settings.Ye

No full textEn 2020 la Consejería de Salud diseñó y publicó la primera edición del Protocolo de Actuación y Coordinación sanitaria ante agresiones sexuales en Andalucía, un documento que complementa al Protocolo Andaluz para la Actuación Sanitaria ante la Violencia de Género y ofrece al personal sanitario pautas para el abordaje de situaciones específicas, como son las agresiones sexuales. En virtud de la normativa legal vigente a partir de 2022, se ha actualizado dicho Protocolo en lo relativo a las pautas básicas comunes para las actuaciones sanitarias en caso de violencia sexual, que se llevarán a cabo independientemente de que la persona agredida interponga o no denuncia.N

Influenza Vaccination Uptake and Associated Factors among Individuals with Diabetes Mellitus in Spain: A Cross-Sectional Study Using Data from the European Health Interview Survey 2020.
No full textBackground: Vaccination against influenza has proven to reduce influenza-caused hospital entries, treatment times in intensive care units and hospitalisation costs for treating people with Diabetes Mellitus (DM). Despite the existing influenza vaccination recommendations for all persons with DM, in Spain, vaccination hesitancy remains substantial, and vaccination rates lag behind target. We aimed to assess predictors for influenza vaccination uptake and reasons for non-adherence among individuals with DM. Methods: Data from the 2020 European Health Interview Survey were analysed using uni- and multivariable logistic regression models, stratified by age group and including possible confounders and vaccination as an outcome. Associations with the sociodemographic profile, healthcare access and substance use were explored. Results: Our analysis included 2194 individuals with DM over the age of 15, showing an influenza vaccination rate of 53%. The findings revealed significant predictors of vaccination uptake, including age over 60 years and robust social support. Conversely, younger age, higher education levels, infrequent healthcare interactions and economic barriers emerged as significant obstacles to vaccination. Conclusions: To enhance vaccination rates, targeted public health interventions should emphasise the importance of vaccination for younger, more educated individuals with DM, those facing economic barriers and those with lower levels of social support, which could bridge the existing gap in vaccination coverage.Ye

la Historia Única de Salud de Andalucía. Desarrollada e implantada por la Empresa Pública de Emergencias Sanitarias (EPES 061), la HCDM facilita el trabajo diario de los profesionales sanitarios que atienden las urgencias y emergencias fuera del hospital o centro de salud y aporta mayor seguridad al paciente.
Gracias a la HCDM, los equipos de profesionales de urgencias y emergencias extrahospitalarias (médicos/as, enfermeros/as y técnicos/as de emergencias sanitarias), conocen los antecedentes e historial clínico del paciente de forma inmediata, incluso antes de llegar al lugar donde se ha producido el incidente. La asistencia queda registrada con la finalidad de que todos los profesionales implicados conozcan el tratamiento puesto en marcha.Solución de registro electrónico de pacientes de características avanzadas, para entornos de movilidad y emergencias, que constituye el módulo de movilidad de
