Get PDFChristian education is always meant to transform the lives of the students. However, the understanding of the superiority of ratio becomes the base of most educational practices, including Christian education. This understanding makes ratio the only aspect accommodated in a learning process. Nevertheless, the ratio is not the only aspect that needs to be accommodated by Christian education; there is also an extra-rational aspect that also plays a huge part in human life. Referring to the transformative learning theory by Jack Mezirow, reflective thinking is the key to transformative learning, which is very much influenced by human imagination. Amid the controversy about the destructive characteristic of imagination, imagination takes a massive role in transformative learning. The Christian perspective is also rooting for the use of imagination that is constructive in a learning process. So, the use of imagination in the right way is very effective in achieving transformative learning in Christian education

Keberadaan seorang tenaga pendidik memberi pengaruh yang sangat besar dalam proses pendidikan seorang peserta didik, baik dalam perkembangan pengetahuan maupun dalam pembentukan karakternya. Seorang tenaga pendidik harus memahami empat kompetensi yang wajib dimiliki oleh seorang guru atau dosen sesuai yang telah ditetapkan dalam Undang-Undang No. 14 Tahun 2005, yaitu kompetensi profesional, kompetensi kepribadian, kompetensi pedagogik dan kompetensi sosial. Kompetensi kepribadian seorang dosen memiliki pengaruh dalam proses pembentukan karakter disiplin mahasiswa. Bagaimana peran kompetensi kepribadian dosen dalam pembentukan karakter disiplin mahasiswa STT Simpson? Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif, serta studi literatur tujuan yang hendak dicapai dari tulisan ini adalah untuk menemukan peran dari kompetensi kepribadian dosen dalam pembentukan karakter disiplin mahasiswa STT Simpson. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada pengaruh kompetensi kepribadian dosen dengan pembentukan karakter disiplin rohani mahasiswa. Role of Forgiveness in The Grief Process for Children in Crisis
Get PDFChildren are a group of people who often experience trauma, which then leads to a cycle of cycle. Various psychological help has been sought but has not addressed spiritual recovery. This study discusses forgiveness in the process of children who are in crisis so that spiritual development occurs in children. The author uses various library sources and analyzes the biblical text in discussing the topic. This study uses hermeneutical approaches to promoting biblical texts as applicable to everyday life. Forgiveness plays an essential role in the recovery process. Children need help identifying what they are grateful for regarding the forgiveness process. Gratitude produces liberation and leads to hope, thus leading to change thatresults in spiritual healing. To help children forgive, children need reconciliation with the creator. To meet this need, spiritual directors play an important role in assisting children to meet their spiritual needs. Spiritual directors can help traumatized children replace their distorted view of themselves, others, and God with a proper view of the truth. The Ethical Values and Leadership Practices in Deuteronomy
Get PDFA search for a philosophy of leadership has to begin with ontological and epistemological questions. The former deals with what leadership is and the latter is concerned with how one can know. Hence, this work engages in exploring the meaning, scope, and nature of leadership through the methods of analysing common words and metaphors of leadership in the Old Testament, particularly the Book of Deuteronomy. In addition, the research perspectives on the nature of leadership in the area of leadership studies are discussed to arrive at a more comprehensive understanding of the characteristics and functions of leadership. This article deals with the ethical values that lay the foundation for the leadership practices in Deuteronomy. In doing so, sources of moral courage will be discussed first, as people’s personal and corporate moral courage has to originate from certain concepts, which serve as a philosophical underpinning, driving leaders in the ethical directions of leadership practices. Next, leadership with a concern for people and ethics is discussed. The crux of the philosophy of Deuteronomy is that people should choose life by obeying the law of the Lord and avoid destruction that results from disobeying the law. Hence, leadership practices are there to create life or well-being for the people. Finally, there will be a study on how ethical practices shape society, with reference to Israelite society in the context of the narratives in the Book of Deuteronomy

Program atau strategi yang dilakukan gereja harus bisa diwujudnyatakan secara praktis, sehingga melalui pemuridan mampu membantu mereka yang ingin keluar dari kemiskinan tidak hanya dari bantuan sosial, namun juga dari pengajaran nilai-nilai kehidupan. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk memberikan solusi kepada gereja supaya bisa memberantas kemiskinan melalui pemuridan. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif-deskriptif dengan menganalisis berbagai data, seperti buku dan artikel jurnal yang dipaparkan secara sistematis. Sebagai kesimpulan, pengentasan kemiskinan gereja melalui pemuridan di gereja dengan program bantuan sosial dan kemanusiaan,  program pemberdayaan Ekonomi, pendidikan dan kesadaran sosial, dan advokasi dan kebijakan publik dalam hal yang diupayakan pasti terjadi kekurangan, namun dengan memanfaatkan potensi dan melakukan inisiatif pasti akan membuahkan perubahan yang baik, daripada gereja hanya diam
Misconceptions of the Sabbath as Rest: The Social Interpretation of Exodus 23:1-12 and Its Relevance
Get PDFThis article is driven by the many problems related to Sunday activities and land problems in the Moluccas. According to J.H Elliott, the authors analyze the text of Exodus 23:1–12 using the social sciences critique method. Meanwhile, the theory used as an analytical tool is the Structural-Functional theory proposed by Emile Durkheim and Jean Jacques Rousseau’s social contract theory. The results of the analysis are then discussed in relation to the church context in the Moluccas. The study\u27s results found that originally, Sabbath meant to rest within the context of work. "Work," as understood by the concept of Sabbath, means working with God in promoting social care, economic sustainability, and environmental concern. Misunderstandings of the Sabbath as Rest cause certain elements in the structure of Moluccan society not to function as they should because the Sabbath is misconstrued to perpetuate laziness, ignore others, hinder economic growth, and ignore the environment. In actuality, the Sabbath provides balance, not only balancing work with rest but also balancing rest with work. The Sabbath needs to be interpreted as \u27working\u27 in the context of communion with God, social care, guaranteeing economic sustainability, and concern for the environment. Local wisdom and regional culture as a social contract are still necessary in caring for humanity and preserving the territory, so such local wisdom and particular aspects of regional culture must be preserved and strengthened

Get PDFThe problem of this article speaks the importance of the essence of prayer in the Christian life. Praying is a valuable opportunity for believers. Humans can ask God for help with their life problems. Praying can be seen as a special place for believers to build close relationships with God. They can also utilise any technology service to connect and pray for each other such as through calling, sending letters or newsletters, and WhatsApp Group contemporary communication facilities. Through praying for each other, people are interconnected and dependent on God. The method used in this study is a descriptive method. Researchers investigate the text of Bible verses related to the importance of praying for others. This approach is taken to lay the Christian theological basis of prayer. The results show that praying for others is a Christian character. Because Christians are commanded by Christ to pray for each other. Praying for others reflects a Christian character that is firmly inherent in believers. Believers who submit prayer support show the plea is urgent and urgent. That need must be answered by responding and praying for it. In today\u27s context, WhatsApp Group facilities can be used as an effective and communicative means to convey prayer requests to and from others. The request encourages believers with sincere hearts to be enterprising and pray for each other
