No full textThis poem is a response to my experiences at The State of Women of Color in New York Higher Education symposium that occurred in March of 2025. During this symposium, keynote speakers and panelists shared their stories--their real life experiences--navigating higher education in the United States and the impact of intersectional oppression that was part of their daily lives. Underpinning all of it was the way that labels are used to both highlight people and make them hypervisible while at the same time dehumanize them. This poem is born out of my own thinkings about what it means to navigate these labels, harkening back to the well known character Hester Prynne to play with the way that labels are used to both create coalition and segregation. I specifically chose the irony of a white woman who was part of a colonizing mission but then branded and excluded, and eventually finding the need to embrace her abject position, in order to remark on the hypocrisies in this system

No full textWith examples from influential women of color feminists, the essay points to some obstacles in the way to developing a true practice of recovery for women of color academics whose research brings them in continual contact with histories and enactments of harm against women and people of color. As women of color in higher education, articulating our health and healing needs in our own terms would help us clear a path to promoting ourselves as whole and healthy persons, in addition to promoting us along a career path. The essay collects reflections on health struggles from famous women of color feminists, to note trends in how their lived experiences of physical and emotional health challenges blend with their intellectual and activist work on behalf of women and people of color

It addresses the lack of detailed information regarding do not crush warnings on package inserts. By analyzing chemical stability, physical stability, solubility, and pharmacokinetics, the study aims to determine if these medications can be safely crushed for administration. The primary audience will be ASHP midyear in December of 2025

A Narrative Case Study Exploration of the Impact of a Youth Development Program on Black Male High School Graduates
No full textThe purpose of this qualitative narrative case study was to explore how eight recent Black male high school graduates perceived the impact of their participation in a 6-week youth development organization based in a Midwestern U.S. city between 2019 and 2024. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews and the review of program documents, including handbooks, logic models, and annual reports. The data were analyzed thematically using both inductive and deductive coding methods guided by the positive youth development framework.
Five key themes emerged: mentorship and professionalism, confidence and public voice, time management and discipline, navigating societal barriers, and visions for community contribution. The findings affirm that the researched youth development organization fostered the five Cs of positive youth development: competence, confidence, connection, character, and caring, which collectively contributed to the sixth C, contribution, as participants expressed a desire to give back to their communities. The study concludes that youth development programs play a transformative role in shaping postsecondary readiness, building resilience, promoting academic growth, and cultivating the life skills essential for leadership among Black male youth. Recommendations include sustained investment in culturally responsive youth programming and future longitudinal studies examining the long-term impact of youth development participation
