Peningkatan Mutu Perguruan Tinggi Kegamaan Islam Melalui Penyusunan Manajemen Strategis Dengan Pendekatan Balanced Scorecard: Studi Kasus di STAI Sangatta Kutai Timur
College has an important role in nation building. Therefore, university governance systems need to get serious attention and appropriate management touches. One of the modern management concepts that can be used is balanced scorecard, which is expected to improve the quality of the institution. This research uses qualitative approach of case study type with research setting at STAIS Sangatta Kutai Timur. The results showed that; improvement of education quality in STAIS Sangatta Kutai Timur is done through; 1) visionary leadership, 2) internal and external environmental analysis done with SWOT analysis, 3) to make quality as "Spirit" in every organizational activity by implementing quality-based, oriented management; a) Costumer Satisfaction, b) continous improvement, c) full involvement of the academic community, d) continous improvement. In order to improve the quality of education with Balanced Scorecard approach, STAIS Sangatta Kutai Timur focuses on four perspectives, namely; financial perspective, costumer perspectives, internal perspectives and development perspectives of development and growth are very effective in improving the quality of education. Implementasi Model Discovery Learning dalam Mata Pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam dan Budi Pekerti di SMAN 1 Bulukumba
The results of research on the implementation of discovery learning model on the subjects of Islamic Education and Character in SMAN 1 Bulukumba, is a model of discovery learning has been applied by Islamic Education Teachers and Character in SMAN 1 Bulukumba in terms of input, process and output components. In the learning needs to be evaluated, especially on aspects of process components and output components on aspects of student skills. Educators are required to maximize in applying the learning model in order to obtain a quality learning situation, active and develop the attitude and knowledge of students. The application of the discovery learning model is not an easy task, by which the teacher takes a lot of time and not all students are able to make the discovery, this model does not apply to all topics. Related to the time and strategy of discovery learning requires a longer duration, due to the rational thinking ability of students is still limited and cultural factors or habits that still use the old learning patterns. The implication of this research, it is expected that the teacher of Islamic Education and Character can implement the scientific approach of discovery learning model in the learning process in class well, evaluate, repair and development both in terms of planning, implementation and assessment in using discovery learning model to run effective and systematic. SCAPM (Shariah Compliant Asset Pricing Model); the Formula of Risk and Return Modification in Islamic Finance
As an Islamic financial institutions into the capital market for investment, the guidance in the areas of risk and return and security prices under Shari'a framework necessary. Traditional CAPM is developed in an environment based on the interest (riba) is not in accordance with Islamic financial system. So that made the model estimates of the risks and return received by sharia models without changing the assumption of an existing model (CAPM). This research is expected to contribute in terms of risk and return assessment on investment of sharia, especially in Indonesia. The method in this research is exploratory through in approach literature studies about the model Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) and explore studies on investmentsharia compliance issues to obtain the valuation model risk and return within the framework of sharia that is Shariah Compliant Asset Pricing Model (SCAPM).The results of this study indicate that Shariah Compliant Asset Pricing Model (SCAPM) is a modification of the model Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM), which has been explained that one of the basic assumptions of CAPM is no inflation. PERTARUNGAN “REALITAS” DALAM FILM: Analisis Cyberspace Film “Transcendence”
Humanity in the today’s modern age linked closely to information and communication technology. Advancements in the area of information and communication technology have changed the very basis of human interactions, including the way people make sense of reality. The presence of cyberspace as a second life of humans, according to Mark Slouka, has led to three different understandings of reality, namely: destopian which views pessimistically, optimistic neofuturists, and more critical techno-realists. In this paper, the author will present one reflection on cyberspace displayed in a Movie by Wally Pfister called "Transcendence". This research applies qualitative method by observing scences featuring in the movie. Findings reveal that virtual reality displayed in "Transcendence" falls into the category of neofuturists. This conclusion is obtained based on identification of the representation of reality, identity, community, and space displayed.Keywords: Film, cyberspace, neofuturists
STRATEGI DAKWAH PADA MASYARAKAT TAREKAT (STUDI KASUS PADA KEGIATAN TAREKAT QODIRIYAH WA NAQSYABANDIYAH DI PONPES FUTUHIYYAH MRANGGEN DEMAK)
The aim of this paper is to find out the most effective strategy to conduct Da’wa in the setting of tarekat society. Tarekat Qadariyah wa Naqsabandiyah is used as a case to examine such strategy in practice. This paper argued that transformative Da’wa as a distinctive method of preaching Islam suit the needs and demands of the tarekat society. Most of the members of tarekat come mainly from rural areas where they already have their intensive Islamic education in Islamic boarding schools (Pondok Pesantren) thus the need for enrichment in terms of Islamic teachings is relatively low. However, this paper suggest that what these people need the most is capacity building in terms of economic and political skill since those skillsets areimportant for the success in life. By becoming successful in life in the world, the main objective of Tarekat Qadariyah wa Naqsabandiyah, which is to create balance between spiritual and practical life in this world, could be fulfilled.Keywords: Da’wa, transformative Da’wa, tarekat, Qadiriyah wa Naqsabandiyah
Language Learning Strategies (LLS): Teachers’ Notions and Practice
The purpose of the study was to find out both notions and practice where LLS are concern. The study targeted the teacher population at Centre for Foundation Studies of the International Islamic University Malaysia, particularly teachers responsible of teaching English at the educational institution. However, there were only four teachers who responded to the invitation to become part of the study. The study first explored the individual perception of the four teachers who volunteered (done via three separate interview sessions) before lesson implementations of the four were observed to substantiate their notions on incorporating LLS into lesson implementations. Sexual Language Translation: The Perspective of Teaching Polite English
Students of English language can benefit their learning from translating English novels which can be found easily everywhere. Since many of those novels contain sexual languages, students need to be exposed on how to deal with taboo, vulgar and harsh languages. This research investigated how to produce a good and qualified translation of taboo, vulgar and harsh languages from English into Indonesian without creating pornography. The quality examined was its accuracy, acceptability and readability of the translation. The method applied in this research was descriptive qualitative with the strategy of an embedded case study. The source of data was a novel by Sandra Brown and its translation. The research reveals that the students and/or translators should handle taboo, vulgar and harsh languages found in sexual languages by applying generalization, modulation, euphemism, reduction and deletion as the techniques to translate such languages, so they are able to produce a translation which does not violate norms and values.
