Examining predictive factors of relationship behaviors
1 online resource (22 pages)Includes abstract.Includes bibliographical references (pages 20-22).The current study examined the effects of relationship behaviors and dating-age on codependency. Specifically, associations between codependency scores and the initial age of dating, or whether or not participants dated before, were explored. Participants (N = 88; 20 males, 67 females, 1 gender fluid) consisted of university students between the ages of 18 and 31 (Mage = 20.63). The multiple regression results suggested that there is a statistically significant negative relationship between codependency scores and the age participants began dating (p<0.05) when factoring in other variables such as personality traits, identity styles, gender, and vertical individualism/collectivism. There was also a weak negative correlation between just the codependency scores and age of dating (r=-0.23). No significant differences were found in the codependency scores of people that dated versus the people that never dated. It was difficult to compare daters vs non-daters as only 10 of the participants indicated that they had never dated before. However, none of the non-daters had a high codependency score (greater than 67.2, as suggested by Spann-Fisher) while approximately 20% of the people who dated had high codependency scores. Previously studied variables that have been associated with codependency were
controlled for, such as family stressors. Some new variables were examined, such as vertical collectivism, and were found to be positively correlated to developing codependency. Identification of adolescents dating early as predictive of high codependency scores could help to target the prevention and/or treatment of later developing high levels of codependency
Performance analysis on covid-19 models with discontinuities and efficient defect control for initial value ODE solvers

We then tackle the issue of computing accurate continu ous solutions to ODE problems through an efficient defect control scheme using multistep interpolants. The defect is the amount by which a continuous approx imate solution fails to satisfy the ODE.Using a Covid-19 ODE model with discontinuities and the R, Python, Scilab and Matlab programming environment, we discuss how to handle issues with time- and state-dependent discontinuities. Solving a Covid-19 PDE model with an error control PDE solver with event detection capabilities, BACOLIKR [23], we discuss issues associated with solving PDE models with time- and state dependent discontinuities.Using the framework of multistep interpolants (Hermite-Birkhoff interpolants), we derive efficient 4th, 6th and 8th order interpolants that can be used to per form defect control. We investigate several questions with this approach and show how to obtain effective defect controlled continuous approximate solutions to ODEs.</span
Dissonant heritage in “a Disneyland of the 1920s” : Analyzing the narrative of the Acadian deportation at Grand Pré National Historic Site

One site where these themes intersect is at Grand Pré National Historic Site, a focal point for Acadian history in Canada, which presents a narrative on the events of the Acadian Deportation. Unfortunately, the narrative of the Acadian Deportation at Grand Pré is not consistently presented across the multiple components of the site. While the narrative of the Acadian Deportation told at the site of Grand Pré is dark in nature, there is work to be done to ensure that this narrative of dissonant heritage is consistently represented across all aspects of the site
Sex differences in oxygen consumption in Japanese medaka (Oryzias latipes)

differences between the sexes. Sexual selection favors traits that are advantageous for
reproduction, usually acting on males due to their higher variability in reproductive success,
often resulting in sexual dimorphism. In Japanese medaka (Oryzias latipes), sexual
dimorphism can be observed in the larger size of male anal fins, which functions in
reproduction, and larger body size in females which results in increased fecundity. Large
body size in males is attributed to greater mating success compared to smaller body size
males. To assess whether or not dimorphism is related to physiological differences between
males and females, I examined the rates of oxygen consumption between the sexes to
determine whether higher weight contributed to differing oxygen consumption. Individual
medaka were assessed for oxygen consumption over a 30-minute time period. Weight was
moderately positively correlated with increasing oxygen consumption in males, and there
was no correlation for females. Males had a higher average weight than females (0.168g vs.
0.159g). There were differing rates of oxygen consumption between the sexes not
influenced by weight during the trials, suggesting that there may be additional
physiological differences which are responsible for the difference in oxygen consumption
between the sexes
DalCAB thesis
1 online resource (99 pages) : charts, graphsIncludes abstract and appendices.Includes bibliographical references (pages 49-55).The current study was conducted to assess the feasibility of a remote administration of the DalCAB, confirm a preference for eveningness in young adults and morningness in older adults, and see if age-related shifting diurnal rhythm preferences affect attention performance. Of the 62 participants who consented to participate, 26 young adults (18-35 years) and 29 older adults (55-79 years) completed the DalCAB once in the morning (8 AM) and once in the evening (4 PM) and took the Morningness-Eveningness questionnaire (MEQ) to assess diurnal preference. With a 90% completion rate and highly acceptable System Usability Scale scores we conclude that remote administration of the DalCAB is feasible. We found a significant relationship between age and MEQ type with an increased preference for morningness with age. Current data suggest that both older and younger adults were able to perform similarly on the DalCAB at any time during the normal workday
An analysis of social media platforms : a perspective of women social entrepreneurs

The study investigates to what extent women social entrepreneurs use social media platforms in India and Bangladesh.
Design/Methodology/Approach- There is a knowledge gap that exists on how women social entrepreneurs use social media platforms. Consequently, the author has conducted a three stages study to answer to the research question. The first step of the methodology was conducting a systematic literature review of selected academic papers. Atlas.ti 22 software was applied to delve into more qualitative information for the study. Several essential themes were developed from the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) that showed the relationship between women entrepreneurs and social media platforms. Afterward, based on the previous themes, Atlas.ti 22 was used for coding websites and social media platforms of women-led social businesses.
Findings and Implications- This study found a deeper connection between the utilization of social media platforms and women social entrepreneurs. Women social entrepreneurs use social media platforms for general business and social business purposes. They take advantage of social media platforms for marketing, business, networking, and communication purposes. Moreover, social activities are not only limited to solving societal problems but also extend the scope of various social activities, such as social interventions, advocacy, and social services on social media platforms. The result of the study can help researchers to adopt the conceptual framework and conduct further research to see the impact of each social activity performed on social media platforms. Moreover, stakeholders can comprehend the importance of social media platforms and make significant decisions for social business
Characterizing the evolution of a restoring salt marsh landscape with low altitude aerial imagery and photogrammetric techniques

effects of climate change, is being used to restore natural salt marsh systems which provide many
benefits including coastal erosion protection and vital habitat. This study utilized remotely
piloted aircraft systems equipped with real-time kinematic (RTK) positioning corrections to
monitor and measure morphodynamic changes at a managed realignment site in the Bay of
Fundy with resolutions and accuracies not achievable with traditional methods. Sedimentation
patterns and channel network evolution were analyzed using remote sensing and GIS techniques.
Results show strong seasonal signals in the morphological evolution of the site, and variations in
sedimentation patterns and channel characteristics between areas with and without relic
agricultural features. RTK positioning functionality improved achievable product accuracies and
increased the magnitude of measurable change in sedimentation analyses, and hyperspatial
resolutions allowed for the mapping of embryonic channel features

Extensive erosion of lacustrine coastlines on Pelly Island (NWT, Canada)
1 online resource (68 pages) : illustrations (chiefly colour), maps (chiefly colour), charts (some colour)Includes abstract.Includes bibliographical references (pages 61-68).This paper quantifies rates of shoreline change and investigates the influence of surficial geology on shoreline dynamics between 1950 and 2018 on Pelly Island, located 10 km off the Mackenzie Delta. Long-term changes in shoreline position were calculated using imagery analysis and Analysing Moving Boundaries Using R (AMBUR), and short-term volumetric erosion was calculated using UAV-SfM methods. The influence of shoreline exposure to predominant storm direction and influence of surficial geology were examined for Northwest and Southeast zones. The average annual linear regression rate (LRR) rate during the 1950-2018 observation period was -3.8 m∙a-1. The end point rate (EPR) was calculated for six observation periods: 1950-1972, 1972-1985, 1985-2000, 2000-2018, 2013-2018. A mean EPR of -5.5 ± 0.7 m∙a-1 was calculated for the 2000-2018 period, and a maximum retreat rate of 46.7 ± 2.1 m∙a-1 was recorded during the 2013-2018 observation period
