    No full text
During a 6-month period two unrelated classes of a vocational school were examined with regards to their motivational changes throughout traditional and gamified learning. The students’ learner and motivational type were assessed, and their motivational changes were examined in the middle and at the end of the experimental period. Based on the data significant differences can be seen between the motivational changes of students with different learning orientations. While there were no significant changes in the motivational aspects of students with deep and organised learning orientations, students with reproductive learning orientation showed a decrease in confidence, but an increase in satisfaction regarding their schoolwork in Geography

Malaysia is actively pursuing the status of a developed nation, focusing on enhancing economic competitiveness through strategic improvements in higher education and research. Over the past decades, the government's commitment has been evident in the significant allocation of state resources, the establishment of an independent Ministry of Higher Education, and the implementation of continuous strategic planning. These efforts have fostered the development of a well-regulated and interoperable higher education system, achieving notable successes in educational quality and internationalisation. Despite these advancements, the private higher education sector faces persistent sustainability challenges, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. This study examines the case of partner institutions affiliated with the University of Nyíregyháza, which, though small, demonstrate dynamic leadership and ambitious future goals. Through onsite data collection and experience, we explore how robust organization and enhanced internationalization processes can stabilize private institutions. The findings suggest that further strengthening internationalization is a viable strategy to address sustainability issues in smaller educational organizations. This study contributes to the discourse on the strategic development of higher education in emerging economies and offers practical insights for enhancing institutional sustainability through internationalization. An essential area of municipal work is the professional and effective management of one's property, preserving its value and increasing it as much as possible, as well as increasing the quantity and quality of public services provided to the population. It is not enough to "extract" that there is actual performance behind this type of work only from the economic data of the companies and the wording of various reports. However, it is much more important to reveal the actual performance of some regions of this activity to learn about the direction and extent of the changes. Performance measurement is aided by analyzing both economic data and providing activities with indicators. Using a case study, the study shows how the performance of municipal public services and asset management can be measured using the example of a local government company. In the present framework, in addition to presenting the theoretical background, the paper examines the changes in economic data and their impact on the Company's performance. In the next part, based on the quantitative data of the individual professional areas, their performance will be examined with the help of the indicators created for the areas. After the data has been aggregated, the change in the performance of the given Company as a whole during the given period will be evaluated.

Investigating the Performance of Self-compacting Concrete Exposed to Hot Weather

    Get PDF
This study investigates the behavior of concrete in a real environment with a temperature exceeding 35 °C in the shade. It focuses on the rheological behavior of self-compacting concrete (SCC) and its ability to maintain its self-compacting aspect over time, compared to ordinary concrete (C3). The research also examines the impact of limestone fillers on SCC's fluidity in hot climates. In the hardened state, the study emphasizes concrete durability against sulfate and acid attacks and their effects on its microstructure. Three types of concrete were studied such as SCC without addition (C1), SCC with 15% of limestone fillers (C2), and (C3), were tested in terms of fresh and hardened states, along with durability against acid and sulfate attacks. Results showed that SCC in a hot climate maintained its self-compacting properties up to 25 minutes after mixing. However, over time, the fluidity of SCC with limestone fillers decreased noticeably and faster. The aging of concrete exposed to sulfuric acid in a hot and dry climate for six months was more intense than with sodium sulfate

Optimization of Load-transfer Functions for a Large-diameter Pile in Multi-layered Geological Conditions via a Stochastic Search Algorithm

    Get PDF
The paper presents the combination of the load transfer method (computational model) and the genetic algorithm (optimization model) for the automated inverse analysis of instrumented pile load tests. The output of this process are the input parameters governing the shape of the load-transfer functions and thus the prediction accuracy when the load-transfer method is used as a design tool for deep foundations. The optimization problem is converted into an unconstrained task by applying the static penalty approach. Two types of measurements are considered in a newly proposed objective function: the load-displacement curve monitored in a pile head and the axial force profiles along a pile derived from strain gauges. Firstly, the local sensitivity analysis via the Design of Experiments is carried out to identify the parameters of the genetic algorithm which significantly influences the rate of convergence during the optimization process. Subsequently, a fully automated inverse analysis of the loading test of the large-diameter bored pile in multilayered geological conditions is presented. The simultaneous combination of two instrumentation sources leads to a stable unique solution with a sufficient match between the prediction and measurements despite a larger number of unknown – optimized variables

A MARC-formátum két szintje és magyar fordításának jelentősége

    No full text
MARC is today the most widely used data exchange format with the largest institutional background in which written sources are stored in the greatest number. It is a mistake to predict the disappearence of MARC. What is currently not being discussed at all are the two completely separate levels (layers) of the MARC structure: the (logical-semantic) user level and the IT. It is only the IT level that updating is needed, and by now significant results have been achieved. It is not widely known that there currently 20 translations of MARC21 exist. It would be important to have a complete Hungarian translation of the exchange formats for bibliographic and classification data. A MARC mára a legelterjedtebb, és legnagyobb intézményi háttérrel rendelkező adatcsere-formátum, egyúttal az írott források kereshetően tárolt leírásához szükséges adatok leggazdagabb tárháza. Téves a MARC megszűnését jövendölni.

Present study evaluates the prevalence and academic usage of digital academic platforms exemplified by private universities across Hungary and Slovakia, assessing how these platforms are integrated into academic practices and highlighting certain variations in technological adoption within the CEE region. After the setting up of the relevant typology and by utilizing a dual-methodological approach, the regional e-visibility of the leadership of certain faculties is examined, while specific user motivations are also explored in a narrower sense through domestic questionnaire-based studies within Hungary. Firstly, by analyzing the use of certain i) academic social netowrking sites (hereinafter ASNSs); ii) author profiles linked to publishers; and databases without social functions at private universities and juxtaposing these with the experiences of Slovak institutions, the research highlights how these platforms are utilized to enhance research visibility and academic networking. Secondly, findings are meant to indicate that while DAPs are widely valued for facilitating scholarly communication in Hungary, localized academic cultures and individual motivations significantly shape their application.Present study evaluates the prevalence and academic usage of digital academic platforms (DAPs) exemplified by certain Universities across Hungary and Slovakia, assessing how these platforms are integrated into academic practices and highlighting certain variations in technological adoption within the CEE region.
