Alexander Bain and Paragraph-Writing Education in Japanese Universities
Get PDFThe main purpose of this paper is to criticize, for the following three reasons, a recent trend in Japanese universities where the paragraph theory is taught as if it were the sole universal way of writing, whether in English or Japanese. First, the paragraph theory was primarily established by Alexander Bain (1818-1903) and it has survived and dominated American education for only a century and a half. Second, according to some previous studies, eminent writers do not necessarily follow paragraph-writing rules when writing in English. Third, as some surveys on contrastive rhetoric suggest, each culture has its own organizational or structural pattern of writing documents. The paragraph-writing method should not be applied directly to education in writing Japanese or be imposed on Japanese students writing Japanese. When we teach English or Japanese writing in Japanese universities, the teachers should explain these situations. Explaining only prescriptive rules that are mentioned in English composition textbooks is confusing to many Japanese students.departmental bulletin pape

The Structure of Financial Crisis - on the fragility of finance and the current capitalism -
Get PDFThis paper aims to analyze the financial crisis which happened by 'bubble' of housing loan from 2007 to 2009. Financial crisis has happened many times since the 19th century. I have examined causes of this crisis in my another paper. In it I argued them as the 'general theory of financial crisis', but couldn't the historical and concrete aspects of it. In this paper I argued the structure of financial crisis from the view points of the latter. In sec.1 I argued the general theory of financial crisis on a 'hypothesis of financial unstability' of H. P. Minsky. In sec.2 I argued the current crisis on Minsky's hypothesis in more concrete aspects. He analyzed the causes of financial crisis as the process of 'hedge finance', 'speculative finance',and 'Ponzi finance'. In sec.3 the history of capitalism was treated. Its history has four steps from the beginning of 1800s to today. Today is in the fourth step, which is the era of globalization of capital. Get PDF本研究においては、幼稚園教諭および保育士養成課程において開講されている「音楽表現指導法」を受講している学生たちの学びについて検討することを目的とした。学生の授業時および授業最終時の教育実践現場に向けた意識について検討した。その結果、授業において、学生は自身の音楽表現の向上を念頭に置いたさまざまな工夫や心理的側面の変化を体験していることが明らかになった。また、近い将来に音楽表現を指導する側になることをイメージしながら、子どもたちの音楽表現能力をはじめ、心理的側面や身体的側面へのプラス面の影響について、学生個々が具体的な意見を持つことができていることが明らかになった。The purpose of this paper is to examine the leaning of students who attended Instructional Methods for Music Representation offered at the training courses for kindergarten and nursery teachers. I examined the learning of students in classes and also their consciousness of the actual scenes where to practice the methods when classes were over. As a result, it was clarified that in classes students were trying various measures for improvement of their own music representation and experiencing changes in their mental states. In addition, it also became evident that the individual student succeeded at having concrete opinions about children's abilities of music representation and positive influences on their mental and physical aspects while imagining being in the position to instruct music representation in the near future.KJ00006987230departmental bulletin pape
