Evolution of Traditional Chinese "Salt-Leaching and Alkali-Washing" Technology and Strategies for Improving Productive Coastal Saline-Alkali Land Landscapes – A Case Study of Cixi City
“Salt-leaching and alkali-washing” is a traditional Chinese technique for reclaiming saline-alkali land, widely used in China’s eastern coastal regions. This technique uses irrigation and drainage to reduce soil salinity and alkalinity, transforming land originally unsuitable for farming into highly productive farmland. In Cixi City, with the establishment of modern agricultural parks represented by Zhengda Agriculture, this traditional technique has been combined with modern technology to develop a new “salt-leaching and alkali-washing” method. This greatly increased the efficiency of saline land improvement, converting large areas of heavily saline-alkali land into arable land with mild salinity and achieving very high economic returns. This paper reviews the development history of “salt-leaching and alkali-washing” from ancient times to the present and examines its current applications, and also analyzes how “salt-leaching and alkali-washing” shapes the landscape and its potential for future landscape transformation
The Digital Catalyst: How Grassroots Sports Are Fueling Rural Revitalization in a Less-Developed Chinese County
In recent years, leveraging digital media to advance rural revitalization has become a pivotal strategy throughout China. This study investigates the Guizhou “Village Super League” (VSL) as a catalytic initiative in this context, exploring how digital new media magnify its socioeconomic and cultural influence. Based on a qualitative case study of the VSL, we conducted 16 in-depth interviews with strategically selected stakeholders, including government representatives, event organizers, village leaders, and local digital content creators. Findings reveal a three-stage mediation model:(1) The convergence of government-led digital strategy, narratives of rural authenticity, and hybrid media engagement sparked extensive online dissemination; (2) This visibility was effectively monetized through brand commercialization, digital entrepreneurship, and the formation of digitally connected rural communities; (3) These developments collectively facilitated the reconstruction of rural cultural identity, local economic growth, and improvements in rural governance. The study thus provides a valuable framework for understanding digitally-mediated rural revitalization and offers practical strategies for replicating this success
The Impact of Digital Transformation on Firm Performance and Sustainable Competitive Advantage
The relentless advancement of digital technologies has compelled firms across all industries to embark on journeys of digital transformation. While widely acknowledged as a critical driver of modern business success, the precise mechanisms through which digital transformation translates into improved firm performance and sustainable competitive advantage remain a complex and nuanced subject of inquiry. This paper employs a qualitative multi-case study methodology to investigate the digital transformation initiatives of three distinct firms: a global e-commerce leader (Amazon), a traditional manufacturer that successfully pivoted (John Deere), and a legacy retailer that faced significant challenges (Sears). By analyzing these cases through the theoretical lenses of the Resource-Based View (RBV) and Dynamic Capabilities, this study identifies three core pillars essential for successful digital transformation: Strategic Integration of Data Analytics, Cultivation of a Dynamic Organizational Culture, and Enhancement of Customer-Centricity. The findings reveal that digital transformation is not merely a technological upgrade but a fundamental strategic realignment. Success is contingent upon a firm's ability to build and reconfigure unique, value-creating resources and capabilities that are difficult for competitors to imitate. The paper concludes that firms which treat digital transformation as an integrated, culture-driven, and customer-focused strategic endeavor are more likely to achieve superior financial performance and establish a sustainable competitive advantage in the digital economy
Financial Fraud Risk Identification Based on the Chartered Financial Analyst Framework:A Pre-Event Analysis Perspective Using the Luckin Coffee Case
Capital markets are contingent on information quality, while the frequent appearance of financial statements fraud seriously undermines information quality, detrimentally harms investors and market safety. Drawing on Luckin Coffee accounting fraud as a natural experimental opportunity, under the Fraud Triangle theory, this study designs a complete identification procedure comprising intrinsic motivations, extrinsic signals, and a meticulous analysis process. Based on only the public available information before its fraud was revealed, this research adopts techniques based on the Chartered Financial Analyst curriculum, such as evaluating profit quality, cash flow monitoring, comparing with competitors, to highlight financial anomalies or key abnormal financial indices from Luckin Coffee's audit report for investors. Evidence shows that systematic Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) based detection processes have been able to generate the signal of strong warning toward financial frauds. The present study this holds significant theoretical and practical implications for enhancing overall market risk detection capabilities and regulatory oversight efficiency
A Study on User Behavior, Preferences, and Satisfaction with Short-Form Dramas in the Sichuan-Chongqing Region
With the rapid advancement of digital media technologies and the growing demand for fragmented entertainment, short dramas have emerged as a new growth driver in the audiovisual industry, characterized by their brevity, high frequency, and intense plotting. Against the macro backdrop of the 14th Five-Year Plan for Cultural Industry Development, this study draws on 673 valid questionnaires from the Sichuan-Chongqing region and employs descriptive statistical analysis, Apriori association rule mining, and principal component analysis (PCA) to systematically examine audience behavioral profiles, genre preference combinations, and determinants of satisfaction. Findings indicate that short drama viewers in the Sichuan-Chongqing region are predominantly female, urban, and middle-aged youth, with undergraduates and current students forming the core consumer base. Primary viewing motivations center on leisure and stress relief and social interaction. Genre preferences exhibit a trend toward multimodal fusion, with “Romance + Suspense”, “Comedy + Romance”, and “Science Fiction + Fantasy” emerging as the most favored combinations. PCA results reveal three core satisfaction dimensions—ranked as content quality, production quality, and advertising experience—wherein content innovation, emotional resonance, and advertising intrusiveness serve as pivotal variables influencing user retention. The study concludes that transitioning the short drama sector from quantity-driven expansion to quality-led growth requires multidimensional synergy across creative content development, technological empowerment, and business model optimization, thereby providing theoretical foundations and practical guidance for high-quality development of regional cultural industries
The Promotion of Sports Event Management and Operation Models: A Case Study of the "Su Chao" League
The Jiangsu Football City League was officially established in May 2025 by the provincial government with supportive policies and achieved great success. This article uses literature review, logical analysis, and case study methods to conduct a feasibility study on special cases for cross regional promotion of sports events, and summarizes the opportunities and challenges behind the success of the "Su Chao" league. Research has found that the successful methods of "Su Chao" include a linkage mechanism of policy guidance, media dissemination, business stratification, and community resonance. It has achieved significant results in driving related industries and stimulating public participation, but its model promotion faces practical constraints such as regional economic balance, scarce media attention, and limited sponsorship resources. Although the "Su Chao" model is of great significance and provides an excellent example for the development of similar domestic events, it is difficult to simply replicate. Each region should base its learning on local realities, promote differentiated and adaptive innovation in event operations, and achieve sustainable development of mass sports events
Interest-Based Ethics and the Moral Status of Economic and Experimental Animals
This paper examines the ethical foundations for the moral treatment of non-human animals, arguing that an interest-based approach provides greater nuance and practical adaptability than the rigid animal rights framework. While animal rights theory requires animals to meet certain cognitive thresholds to qualify for moral protection, interest theory acknowledges the diverse cognitive and sensory capacities across species, allowing for flexible moral consideration based on sentience and observable interests. Drawing on cases from economic and experimental animals, as well as the evolution of welfare standards in fields like equestrian sports, this paper demonstrates how interest-based ethics can both improve animal welfare and accommodate real-world complexities. Through the perspective of sensory thinking, particularly Temple Grandin’s work, the paper further highlights how animal interests can be practically interpreted and addressed. Ultimately, the interest-based framework better aligns with scientific research, societal realities, and species-specific needs, offering a more comprehensive guide for ethical decision-making in animal welfare
Culture as A Dynamic Product of Socially and Historically Situated Discourse Communities: Examples and Case Studies
The aims of this study are to explore the relationship between culture and discourse communities. Qualitative research is used for this study as it provides a deep understanding of the social and historical contexts in which culture is produced, reproduced, and reconstructed. Using historical analysis, globalization, and subcultures, the paper discusses the revolutionary character of culture and how historical conditions as well as social interactions collectively give rise to cultural identities. Through the use of diverse case studies, such as global youth culture, African American culture in America, and post-colonial cultural changes, this essay outlines the role of discourse communities in the creation of culture. The findings show that culture is not a fixed product but rather a dynamic entity constantly evolving through the interactions of people and communities in given historical and social contexts.
