    Get PDF
Music performance anxiety is the stress musicians experience during stage performances. This study employs literature analysis to reveal the manifestations of music performance anxiety, the primary factors causing it, its impacts, and specific measures for improvement. Given that performance anxiety is commonly experienced by music major students, it is primarily caused by factors such as perfectionistic personality traits, social anxiety, past performance experiences, and personal musicality. Music performance anxiety can directly or indirectly affect performers both physiologically and psychologically. Physiologically, it is mainly manifested through symptoms such as muscle tension, trembling hands and feet, nausea, and increased heart rate. Psychologically, it often results in diminished self-esteem, memory loss, and feelings of repression and depression. To alleviate performance anxiety in music major students, this paper proposes strategies such as cultivating a positive performance attitude, accumulating stage experience, and preparing adequately before performances. Additionally, external methods such as professional treatment and teacher support and encouragement can assist students in overcoming performance anxiety, enhancing their stage confidence, and achieving better performance outcomes

A Comparative Study of Sequences Elicited by Incomplete Utterances in EFL Classroom Interaction

    Get PDF
The sequence plays a central role in EFL classroom interaction. Incomplete Utterance(IU) is universally found in EFL classroom, and many scholars mention the sequences elicited by IUs. However, little research has been done to compare IU sequences between an experienced EFL teacher’s classroom interaction and a novice EFL teacher’s classroom interaction in China. Therefore, this study aims to explore the similarities and the differences in terms of locations, formats, and the number of pedagogical functions of their IU sequences. The study eventually finds that both of them use IU sequences in the same interactional locations and with the same formats, and they both use IU to check students’ knowledge, engage more students in classroom interaction, and help students solve outputting difficulties. The differences are that the experienced teacher designs more IUs to elicit students to display knowledge than the novice teacher and there is no student initiation of IU sequence in the novice teacher’s classroom interaction. The findings can enrich English teaching practice and English teacher development

    Get PDF
This study evaluates the impact of two nutrient solutions (F1 and F2) and varying dosages of the plant bio-stimulant Atomes F.D.Inc. Bio Sciences PHP®, (D1 = 50 mL, D2 = 100 mL, D3 = 150 mL, and D0 = control) on the growth and yield of Capsicum annuum in a hydroponic system. The results demonstrate that F2 significantly enhanced overall plant growth and yield compared to F1, with notable increases in fruit count (25±10 vs. 24±9), average fruit width (8.31±1.02 cm vs. 8.03±1.00 cm), average fruit length (11.79±1.19 cm vs. 11.55±0.89 cm), and total yield weight (2.85±0.89 kg vs. 2.68±0.91 kg). Plants treated with D3 exhibited the highest yield, with a total fruit weight of 3.90 kg, compared to 1.69 kg in the control group (D0). D3-treated plants also produced an average of 37 fruits, while D0 produced only 13. Conversely, D0-treated plants resulted in larger individual fruit sizes, with an average fruit width of 8.98 cm and a length of 13.20 cm, compared to 7.89 cm and 10.91 cm in D3-treated plants. These findings underscore the importance of precise nutrient management and bio-stimulant applications in optimizing hydroponic bell pepper production. Future research should focus on long-term economic feasibility and large-scale implementation strategies

How Does the Screen Expansion in the Images through Generative AI Affect the User Experience of Watching the Video on XR Environments?

    Get PDF
The advent of generative AI, which has recently emerged, signifies the ability to create images by expanding upon existing images and filling in empty areas. Consequently, this research examined the impact of providing expanded images on the existing movie screen on usability when watching a movie while wearing XR equipment. This is because when a video with a 16:9 or 21:9 aspect ratio is viewed while wearing an XR device, the video can be expanded to occupy the entire screen in extended reality. The experimental design entailed the real-time capture of the movie screen using Adobe's generative AI, followed by the expansion of the captured image and its manipulation in both the vertical and horizontal directions. The video comprises a 15-second movie, featuring a VR scenario. A usability evaluation (SUS) was conducted, utilizing this function to expand the screen area. The experimental results substantiated the positive impact of generating images in real-time through generative AI on an XR device that expands the screen area through generative AI

Understanding the Causes of Overconsumption of Sugar-Sweetened Beverages and Evaluating the Effectiveness of Policy Interventions in Singapore

    Get PDF
Excessive consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs), resulting from negative consumption externalities and imperfect information, are the predominant causes of market failure in Singapore. In response, Singapore implemented the Nutri-Grade front-of-pack labelling and reformulation guidelines for pre-packaged beverages in December 2022. This research aims to evaluate the efficacy of the Nutri-Grade policy in reducing the overconsumption of pre-packaged beverages between 2023 and 2025. The research adopts a mixed-methods approach, consisting of both primary and secondary data. Primary data was obtained from an online survey of 154 respondents and phone interviews with healthcare professionals and a Health Promotion Board representative, to illuminate Nutri-Grades' effect on consumer awareness and purchasing behaviour. Secondary data encompassed a variety of government publications, academic studies, and industry reports. The secondary sources provided sufficient evidence and data to deduce national consumption trends and reformulation outcomes. Findings show that Nutri-Grade has been moderately to highly effective in reducing SSB overconsumption, specifically in reducing the average weekly sugar intake from SSBs from an estimated 203.84 grams pre-policy to 186.67 grams post-policy, moving closer to the socially optimal 182 grams. Additionally, the survey responses indicate that the main motivation for the reduction in sugar consumption and the switch to Grade A/B beverages were health concerns and clearer nutritional information. Product reformulation also led to a substantial increase in the market share of Grade A/B beverages and a reduction in median sugar content. The Nutri-Grade Mark has been proven effective in reducing information asymmetry, nudging consumers towards healthier choices, and incentivising producer reformulation, which collectively contribute to the partial correction of the market failure from SSB consumption. However, the limiting factors for the policy's effectiveness include habitual consumption patterns and the increased use of artificial sweeteners. Therefore, while Nutri-Grade has significantly reduced overconsumption, complementary measures, such as public education, are necessary to further reduce consumption
