What You Can Do as a Childcare/Educator to Protect Children’s Lives: Current Status and Issues of Pediatric Emergency Response in Childcare Facilities and Schools
The purpose of this study is to examine the current status and issues of pediatric emergency response in schools and childcare facilities. To this end, we reviewed the current state of emergency response for children in childcare facilities and educational settings, and conducted a survey of childcare workers and doctors regarding emergency for children. The results revealed that because children are unable to accurately communicate their physical condition and mood on their own, childcare workers and doctors share a common attitude of actively trying to gauge the child’s condition. It was also revealed that both professionals were in close contact with parents both during normal times and during emergencies, as information from parents is valuable for understanding changes in children. Based on these results, we proposed the following four points as things that childcare workers and educators can do to protect children’s lives. That is, 1. Children’s understanding in everyday life, 2. Appropriate response in emergencies, 3. Regular emergency training, 4. Acquiring basic life support techniques in childcare worker/teacher training courses.departmental bulletin pape
Examination of effective methods for implementing educational counseling training using Sandplay
The aim of this study was to identify effective methods for delivering training in educational counseling using the Sandplay technique. A Sandplay group was conducted with five teachers from the educational center, referred to as Group B. The participants engaged in group Sandplay three times and individual Sandplay twice each over the five sessions. The results showed that the outcomes were similar to those achieved in the previously conducted three-session group (Group A). However, compared to Group A, the participants in Group B demonstrated greater awareness of themselves and others. Additionally, the study emphasized that for effective implementation in school settings, it is essential to consider not only physical factors such as time and equipment but also the teachers' attitudes and values toward the training, as well as their relationships with other participants.departmental bulletin pape
