    Get PDF
This paper is a memorandum on Jizoji Temple and its abbots from the Middle Ages to the early modern period to elucidate the actual study and teaching conditions by successive abbots of Jizoji Temple. Among the successive abbots of Jizoji, there are very few materials that provide clues to the history and training of the abbots from the late medieval to early modern periods. In consideration of this situation, the following books are selected from the collection of Jizoji Temple: Toin Shinyaku no Innen, Toin Chuko Kaizan no Koto(『当院神薬之因縁・当院中興開山之事』), Jizoji Sojo Daisu(『地蔵寺相承代数』), Jizoji Sojo Daisu (separate volume)(別本『地蔵寺相承代数』), Mujinzan Shogonin Jizomitsuji Ki(『無尽山荘厳院地蔵密寺記』), Shojihoryu (『正地法流』)and (Provisional) Jizoji Yuishogaki(『(仮)地蔵寺由緒書』). In addition, the book is reprinted with bibliographic information at the end of the book and is widely available for reference.departmental bulletin pape

Yoichi Nakagawa’s Scientific Romanticism: In the Time of the Magazine Shin Kagaku-Teki [New Scientific] (1930-1933)

    Get PDF
Shin Kagaku-Teki [New Scientific](1930-1933) is a literary magazine launched by a novelist Yoichi Nakagawa. Although he did not contribute articles to the magazine, his purpose of launching this magazine was to mature his literary formalism theory. It is notable that his formalism tries to incorporate scientific ideas such as the theory of relativity and quantum mechanics. In this paper, I analyzed Nakagawa's papers published in various media, such as newspapers and (other) magazines, during the time when the magazine Shin Kagaku-Teki was being published(around the year of 1930) and examined the idea that Nakagawa called “scientific romanticism,” which he reached through his discussions of his own literary theory in his papers.departmental bulletin pape

The Study of Valuation of the “Ideal Image by the End of Childhood,” “Qualities and Abilities,” “Proactive and Dialogic Deep Learning,” and the “Five Areas” in the National Curriculum Standard for Kindergartens

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to clarify how childcare teachers and students at teacher education universities evaluate the “Ideal Image by the End of Childhood,” “qualities and abilities,” “proactive and dialogic deep learning,” and the “five areas” in the National Curriculum Standard for Kindergartens after watching videos of kindergarten children. The study showed a significant difference in the evaluations by teachers and students, but no significant difference in evaluations by teachers at kindergartens, nursery schools, and centers for early childhood education and care. However, there was a difference based on their years of experience. The “Ideal Image by the End of Childhood” was classified into “items that are easy to observe” and “items that are not easy to observe”. Due to multiple regression analysis, the path coefficients of “qualities and abilities”, “proactive and dialogic deep learning”, and “five areas” were significant. The results suggest that it may be effective for students to practice comprehensive and related evaluation of children, such as by watching videos of children in kindergarten.departmental bulletin pape

Findings from a Survey of University Students' Attitudes toward “Fast Fashion”: Designing Home Economics Classes to Cultivate Environmentally Friendly Clothing Habits

    Get PDF
In recent years, consumers have gravitated toward lower prices for clothing. One of the reasons for this is the rise of “fast fashion,” a term used to refer to brands that sell new products in large quantities at low prices. At present, the large number of clothing items deemed unnecessary is exacerbating the burden on the environment. Schools are promoting education that incorporates perspectives on building a sustainable society. There is a need to design classes that will cultivate environmentally friendly clothing habits. This study reports on a survey that sought to clarify university students' awareness of fast fashion and the challenges it presents in order to obtain basic materials for curriculum development. It was determined that university students were keenly interested in clothing and fashion, but had a low level of comprehension about fast fashion. They held a favorable view of fast fashion brands, which they associated with an abundance of simple clothing items incorporating trendy designs at low prices. On the other hand, they were unable to make the connection between clothing habits and the environment.departmental bulletin pape

    Get PDF
Teachersʼ content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge defined by Ball et al. (2008) and Shulman (1986) have been used as a conceptual framework to investigate teachersʼ mathematical knowledge for teaching at grade 1-3 based on new developed teaching materials of Nepal. Online based questionnaire survey was applied for gathering the data and analyzed by using 3-scale rubrics. This study focused on teachersʼ content knowledge (CK) and pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) on number sense and basic operation. From overall analysis of data, researcher argues that teacherʼs CK and PCK are not sufficient to use new materials appropriately. So, it is suggested that professional development support for teachers is seems to be necessary in order to improve teachersʼ CK and PCK.departmental bulletin pape
