Exploring the Challenges in Implementing a Competency-Based Approach in Teaching EFL in Mali: A Case Study of 10th-Grade
Get PDFThe Malian secondary school has implemented the Competency-Based approach for over a decade. The theoretical progress contrasts with the practical issues in teaching English as a foreign language, particularly concerning student performance. This study evaluated students from two schools using Bloom's taxonomy. A diagnostic test measured four cognitive domains: Remembering, Understanding, Applying, and Analyzing. A total of 100 students (50 from each school) participated. Results showed that participants had good remembering skills and moderate understanding levels, but faced significant challenges in applying knowledge. Analytical skills varied among participants. These results can serve as a basis for strategies to improve these cognitive skills and adapt educational approaches to address specific areas of improvement.departmental bulletin pape

Effectiveness of an Emotional Education Program to Enhance Emotion-Focused Coping for Children Utilizing Implicit and Explicit Affect
Get PDFThis study investigated the educational effects of emotional education program and examined the influences of implicit and explicit emotions. The study was conducted with 5th and 6th-grade elementary school students, and there were 91 valid respondents. The assessment tools used were IPANAT-C for implicit emotions, PANAS-C for explicit emotions, and URES-C for learning goal indicators. The results of the study showed significant effects in students who exhibited low scores in each domain before the education (or high scores in the case of negative emotions)，and their post-education scores were higher (or lower for negative emotions) compared to preeducation scores. Next, a hierarchical multiple regression analysis was conducted to explore how the preeducation emotional states of students who demonstrated educational effects might impact the improvement of URES-C variables. The results indicated a significant increase, for instance, when an interaction between IPA and EPA was introduced in Step 2，particularly in the identification of others' emotions. The results of simple main effect tests revealed that lower IPA scores were associated with greater enhancement in emotion identification, especially when EPA scores were higher. Analysis of compound sentences with nara-subordinate clauses expressing counterfactuals
Get PDFThis work examines counterfactual conditional statements that contain compound sentences with nara-clauses in the subordinate clauses. The analysis is divided into three types of compound sentences based on whether the subordinate clause expresses something different from reality: (1) cases in which something different from reality is expressed in the subordinate and main clauses, (2) cases in which it is expressed only in the main clause, and (3) cases in which it is expressed only in the subordinate clause. As a result, there are three types of conditional sentences: (1) “typical counterfactual conditional sentences” in which things that differ from reality are expressed in the subordinate and main clauses, (2) “factual counterfactual conditional sentences” in which things that differ from reality are expressed only in the main clause, and (3) compound sentences in which things that differ from reality are expressed in the subordinate clauses and the speaker's thoughts and opinions are expressed in the main clauses. It is difficult to position the compound sentences in (3) as counterfactual conditional sentences. Furthermore, this paper shows that since (2) and (3) are conditional sentences that can only be stated in compound sentences with nara-clauses in the subordinate clauses, that these are related to the characteristics of compound sentences with nara-clauses in the subordinate clauses, it is necessary to proceed with the analysis within the characteristics of compound sentences with nara-clauses.departmental bulletin pape
関数y=ax²とみなすことの困難性とその克服 : 「リレーのバトンパス」の実践と事後調査を通して
Get PDF本研究では，現実の世界の問題解決に向けて2量の関係を関数y=ax²とみなす際に固有の困難性の実態とその克服策について明らかにすることを目的として，2量の関係を関数y=ax²とみなす判断の根拠となる事柄について考察し，実験授業と事後調査を行った．その結果，2量の関係を関数y=ax²とみなすことの困難性の要因として，関数y=ax²とみなすか判断する際，座標平面上の点の並びがほぼ放物線になっているかをその観察からは判断できないことなど3点が導出された．また，2量の関係を関数y=ax² とみなすことの困難陛を克服する方策として，授業と事後調査から，関数y=ax²とみなすか判断する際，グラフ描画アプリに表示した点の多くに近接する放物線があるかを，入力された式y=ax²の任意定数aの値を多様に変えて観察する機会を設けることなど3点の有効性が示唆された．journal articl
