No full textSince 2018, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has been an accredited entity for the Green Climate Fund (GCF or the Fund). Per the FAO GCF Accreditation Master Agreement,1 the FAO Office of Evaluation has some specific responsibilities regarding the evaluation of the GCF-funded projects.This guidance note was developed by the FAO Office of Evaluation in collaboration with the FAO Office of Climate Change, Biodiversity and Environment to provide a summary of the key information needed for colleagues involved in the formulation of GCF-funded projects and/or in their evaluation. This will ensure that evaluations of GCF-funded projects are designed, budgeted, and conducted in alignment with requirements transmitted through GCF policy and guidance documents

No full textThis report presents research on social innovation and relevant trends for small-scale farming in the Near East and North Africa (NENA) region. Social innovation is an approach to community development that gained momentum in the second half of the 2010s as a response to the challenges imposed by the post- crisis economy and austerity policies. The report highlights a rich set of practices already in development in the NENA region in small-scale farming, which can be replicated and adapted to various places and communities, and even progressively scaled up into broader systems. The topics and approaches found in the examples analysed are the following: agroecology production and permaculture; social farming; short food supply chains; income generation and diversification; water management; conservation of landscapes and reforestation; empowerment of women and tackling barriers for the engagement of civil society
