ESS 2 – Resource efficiency and pollution prevention – ensures that FAO-supported projects avoid, minimize, and manage risks related to resource use and pollution. It promotes sustainable practices to reduce adverse environmental and health impacts, focusing on efficient use of energy, water, land, and other resources. ESS 2 also advocates for integrated pest and soil management, reduced reliance on harmful chemicals, and minimization of climate pollutants. The guidance provides practical tools and mitigation measures to integrate these principles into project planning and implementation, supporting sustainable development and climate resilience
