The learning process emphasizes teacher role modeling, habituation of religious values, and employs tahfizh methods such as Alsam and Tilawati. 4) The evaluation of pesantren-based curriculum management is carried out regularly and systematically, including annual work meetings, semester coordination meetings, and program evaluations every three months. 5) The implementation of pesantren-based curriculum management at Al Azhar 46 Kindergarten positively impacts the quality of learning. The curriculum management has been executed systematically, adhering to the functions of curriculum management through the development of technical guidelines and integrative modules that facilitate the balanced implementation of both the national and pesantren curricul
A Study on Students’ Learning Styles In Speaking Course At The English Department of Widya Gama Mahakam University, Samarinda
This study investigates students' learning styles in the Speaking Course at the English Department of Widya Gama Mahakam University, Samarinda. The research aimed to identify problems faced by students when using their learning styles and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of different learning styles in speaking development. The study employed a qualitative case study design with six purposively selected fourth-semester students representing visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis with theory triangulation for validation. For thematic analysis, we followed Braun and Clarke's six-phase framework, and for the theory triangulation, applied Fleming's VARK model. The findings revealed distinct learning style preferences that significantly influenced speaking course. Visual learners demonstrated strong preparation and organizational skills but struggled with spontaneous conversations and real-time communication. Auditory learners showed excellent listening abilities and natural speaking fluency but faced challenges with written preparation and environmental distractions. Kinesthetic learners excelled in interactive activities and experiential learning but encountered difficulties in traditional classroom settings and abstract discussions. Each learning style group faced specific challenges: visual learners experienced anxiety in unstructured speaking situations and over-dependence on visual supports; auditory learners struggled with spelling and written organization; kinesthetic learners had difficulties with sedentary learning environments. Despite their strengths, each learning style demonstrated notable limitations in comprehensive speaking development. The research contributes to understanding the relationship between learning styles and speaking skill acquisition in EFL contexts. The result is that while learning style preferences should be accommodated, students need multimodal learning strategies to overcome single-modality limitation

EFL Students’ Beliefs on Self-Assessment on Speaking Performance: Case on Indonesian Pre-Service Teachers
This research aims to explore student beliefs regarding self-reported feedback on their speaking performances in English classes. It investigates what beliefs students hold about receiving self-assessed evaluations and delves into how these assessments can identify both strengths and weaknesses in English-speaking abilities. Using a qualitative case study approach involving interviews with three highly self-regulated learners, the study highlights the significance of self-assessment for improving speaking skills. While acknowledging that self-assessment has its limitations—such as insufficient English proficiency, restricted practice opportunities, and emotional hurdles—the research emphasizes incorporating external feedback from peers, teachers, or technological tools to enhance learner comprehension of their speaking capabilities. Ultimately, addressing these challenges through integrated teaching methods could optimize the efficacy of self-assessment practices in enhancing language learning outcomes
Addressing the Gap in Reflective Teaching Practices: A Case Study of an English Lecturer in Non-English Major
This study explores the implementation of reflective teaching practices by an English lecturer instructing non-English major students and examines its contributions to professional development and classroom engagement. Reflective teaching involves a continuous cycle of self-assessment, adaptation, and improvement, which enables educators to refine their teaching methodologies to better meet students' needs. Using a qualitative case study approach, this research employed multiple data collection methods, including reflective journals, semi-structured interviews with the lecturer and students, and non-participant classroom observations. The findings indicate that reflective teaching significantly enhances lecturer self-awareness, fostering a more adaptive, student-centered instructional approach. By regularly analyzing his teaching methods and incorporating student feedback, the lecturer was able to create a more engaging and inclusive learning environment. Students reported increased motivation, participation, and comprehension as a result of these pedagogical adjustments. Even though the study found some benefits, it also found some problems that can make it hard to use reflective practices consistently. These problems include a lack of time and too much administrative work that should be done by the lecturer. The research underscores the importance of integrating reflective teaching into professional development programs to promote a culture of continuous learning among educators. Additionally, it highlights the need for further studies involving diverse educational settings to explore the long-term impacts of reflective teaching on both instructors and students. By addressing these gaps, future research can contribute to the development of more effective and sustainable approaches for incorporating reflection into higher education teaching practice
Implementing Knowledge Management in Private Higher Education Institutions: The Role of Information Technology in Managing Academic Data to Foster Educational Innovation: Implementasi Manajemen Pengetahuan di Perguruan Tinggi Swasta: Peran Teknologi Informasi dalam Pengelolaan Data Akademik untuk Meningkatkan Inovasi Pembelajaran
This study aims to analyze the implementation of knowledge management systems supported by information technology (IT) in private universities (PTS) in Samarinda. The focus is on the role of IT in managing academic data, fostering learning innovation, and enhancing operational efficiency. The research adopts a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative surveys of students, lecturers, and administrative staff with in-depth interviews with institutional leaders and educators. Survey results reveal that most PTS are still in the early stages of adopting IT-based knowledge management systems, with many relying on manual methods or non-integrated systems. The primary challenges identified include limited technological infrastructure, insufficient digital literacy, and inadequate budget allocation. However, institutions that have implemented web-based IT systems reported significant improvements in academic data management efficiency, such as a 50% reduction in administrative processing time, along with increased user satisfaction. The key recommendations of this study include investing in IT infrastructure, such as upgrading server capacity and internet networks, providing comprehensive training for all users, and strengthening partnerships with technology service providers. These strategic measures are expected to accelerate digital transformation, improve the quality of academic services, and create a more innovative, adaptive, and competitive learning environment. This study highlights the crucial role of IT in enhancing the competitiveness of higher education institutions in the global digital era
