Intimidade, imagem e reconhecimento facial
Information technologies have come to revolutionize modern societies. This revolution, brought about by the massive use of computers and the Internet, has not only changed the way information is processed but also its pace, consequently leading to the redefinition of consumer society.
In fact, information is now shared at a rapid pace, endangering the right to privacy. As a result, we find ourselves living in a borderless virtual world where everything is easily accessible with just a small gesture, a simple click, and the convenience and speed with which certain daily tasks, once complex and timeconsuming, are now performed quickly and comfortably.
However, it would be naive of us not to recognize the negative consequences that information and communication technologies have brought to individuals, particularly concerning the protection of their data and, consequently, their right to privacy and the privacy of their personal lives.
Hence, there is an ongoing appeal for the right to privacy and the need to control the dissemination of information concerning individuals. In this sense, it is essential to adapt the Law to this new reality to face these new challenges, preventing the digital world from becoming a place without rules, where transgressions do not entail civil and/or criminal responsibility.
As digital technology advances, new challenges arise that demand an adaptation of the Law to address them appropriately. Ensuring that the digital world does not become a lawless area is crucial. Regarding privacy protection, laws need to be updated to address specific concerns related to the collection, storage, and use of personal data in the digital environment. Aspects such as informed consent, purpose and limitation of data usage, information security, and the right to be forgotten are among the factors that need to be considered. Furthermore, it is essential to establish clear responsibilities for the entities involved in the digital world, including companies that collect and process personal data, online service providers, social networks, and even the users themselves. Civil and criminal liability should be applied when privacy violations or unauthorized disclosure of personal information occur. The line between appropriate usage and potential abuse is very thin, especially concerning biometric data, particularly facial images, which can be employed for obscure, unethical, or even illegal purposes, such as discrimination or persecution, either directly or indirectly. From facial data, not only age and gender can be extracted but also ethnic origin and political ideals, making facial recognition susceptible to generating discrimination against certain groups of people.
According to current regulations, the processing of personal data should serve individuals. This means that the main focus should be on protecting individual rights and benefiting data subjects. The right to personal data protection is not absolute; it should be considered in relation to its function in society and balanced with other fundamental rights, following the principle of proportionality. The current regulation respects all fundamental rights and observes the liberties and principles recognized in the Charter and enshrined in the Treaties, particularly regarding the respect for private and family life, communications, personal data protection, freedom of thought, conscience and religion, freedom of expression, and information.
The increasing economic and social development resulting from the functioning of the internal market has caused a significant rise in cross-border flows of personal data. The exchange of such data between public and private actors, including individuals, associations, and companies, has intensified both within the European Union and worldwide.
As a result of EU law, the national authorities of the Member States have been called to cooperate and exchange personal data among themselves to fulfill their functions or perform tasks on behalf of an authority from another Member State.
The objectives of Directive 95/46/CE remain valid; however, they have not prevented the fragmentation of data protection application at the EU level, nor the legal uncertainty or the widespread belief that significant risks to the protection of individuals persist, particularly concerning electronic activities. The differences in the level of protection of rights and individuals, especially the right to the protection of personal data in the context of data processing in the Member States, may hinder the free movement of personal data within the Union. Such differences can, therefore, constitute an obstacle to the exercise of economic activities within the Union, distort competition, and prevent authorities from fulfilling their obligations under EU law. These disparities in protection levels stem from differences in the implementation and application of Directive 95/46/CE.
Directive 95/46/CE was the legislation preceding the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) implementation in the European Union. While the objectives of Directive 95/46/EC remain valid, it faced significant challenges in its application, resulting in fragmentation and legal uncertainty regarding data protection.
One of the main issues with Directive 95/46/CE was its inconsistent transposition into the national legislation of Member States. Each country had the responsibility to implement the directive in its own legislation, leading to differences in approaches and data protection requirements throughout the European Union. This created fragmentation in the application of data protection laws and made it difficult to achieve coherence and harmonization in the digital single market. The Directive was unable to provide clear and comprehensive guidelines on how to address these emerging issues.
The lack of a unified legal and regulatory framework led to a perception that individual rights were not adequately protected.
These concerns and challenges were addressed with the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in 2018. The GDPR is directly applicable in all UE Member States and aims to harmonize data protection laws and provide a higher level of protection for personal data. It addresses the gaps and deficiencies of Directive 95/46/CE by introducing stricter rules, enhanced transparency, greater accountability for organizations, and stronger rights for individuals. With the GDPR, the European Union seeks to promote security and trust in the digital environment, ensuring effective protection of personal data. The regulation specifically addresses activities carried out electronically, providing clear guidance and specific requirements for the processing of personal data in this context
This research work addresses the topic: Climate change: the contribution of renewable energies to the strengthening of international security and, in particular, environmental security. It is framed within the theme of climate change and its effects on international security. Although it falls under the theme of climatology, it is concerned, above all, with its effects in the context of international security; as the main scientific issue focuses on the impact of renewable energies on international security and, in particular, on environmental security. The objective of the investigation aims to find out if renewable energies are a viable and advantageous solution in solving problems related to energy security or climate change; whether international crises can be provoked. From the point of view of methodology, an evaluation of qualitative data was carried out, based on document analysis and on the collection of information from the survey. The interview was conducted using a script, and the results obtained are presented and discussed throughout the chapters of the dissertation. With regard to the main conclusions, it was possible to recognize that, in fact, climate change has a negative impact today and may have worse consequences in the future, both in the economy and in the environment, or in society, threatening the desired concept of sustainable development that translates, perhaps, into «(…) a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and improve the lives and prospects of everyone, everywhere.» (United Nations Web Services Section, 2022) and which aims to meet the needs of the present without harming future generations or failing to meet their needs. This main idea was included by Member States of the United Nations, in 2015, in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which lists seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). What constitutes: «(...) a broad and ambitious agenda that addresses several dimensions of sustainable development (social, economic, environmental) and that promotes peace, justice and effective institutions.» (United Nations Web Services Section, 2022). Alternative and renewable energy sources are being increasingly discussed in the global context. Global warming results from intense energy consumption worldwide that has caused environmental dysfunctions that are faced with technologies that have been developed in the renewable energy sector. Several countries have taken measures or negotiated agreements and protocols to mitigate these negative effects. Renewable energies, in addition to being inexhaustible resources, seem to be clean energies and, therefore, environmentally friendly
This dissertation concerns the specificities of the telephone tapping regime as a means of obtaining evidence in the Portuguese Criminal Procedure. Being a means of obtaining evidence that conflicts with Fundamental Rights, but still assuming extraordinary aptitude for the investigation and discovery of material truth, it is important to delimit its particularities and limits, with a view to scrupulous compliance with the legal assumptions of admissibility and the consequences of their violation. As a consequence of the use of telephone tapping, fortuitous knowledge arises, among others. In this sense, we will focus on fortuitous knowledge, its distinction with research knowledge and its practical consequences. Going through an analysis of Portuguese doctrine and jurisprudence, in order to seek, within the possible balance, solutions for the use of fortuitous knowledge
XX.Among the most exciting jobs that architects will be able to embrace are, most likely, those in which they are challenged to build a sacred space. The most emblematic works, even by modern or contemporary architects, are, in a significant number of cases, churches, places of worship or other equipment-buildings designed with the purpose of being configured as places at the service of the spiritual care of humanity and the search for answers, to the countless existential questions, intrinsic to human character and existence itself. Therewith, since the dawn of civilization, architecture and the sacred have traced a joint path that defines the evolution of the human species, a path that allows us to characterize architecture as a permanent interpretation and representation of its own existence, but which, even so, leaves some questions unanswered. reply. Why do men build temples? Why do men seek to touch the intangible? The investigation focuses on the specific case of this Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima which has, in its architectural legacy, a set of significant works by authors of recognized importance and maintains as a permanent presence the relationship between the sacred and man and architecture at their service, starting from the anthropological records and the different dwellings registered through the sensitive experience of those who inhabit them. Therefore, it is the intention of this investigation to minimize the distance to the understanding of the way in which Man expresses, through architecture and over time, his relationship with the Sacred, specifically in an architectural path inserted in the portuguese panorama, throughout the 20th century

Over the years it has been noted more precisely that the leader and the collaborators turn out to be key points for any company, for this reason leadership and motivation are always
intertwined. Being that the leader, as his name implies, has the mission of sharing self-knowledge and good practices with his followers so that they feel motivated and identified
by the company, making them provide their maximum in the fulfillment of their duties as well as also in achieving the goals set by the company. The presence of a leader who lives for the company, the so-called creator of followers, with the ability to boost good vibes in his followers in order to create relationships not only for work but also for seeking to know the needs of his subordinates, provides good communication and a better work environment, so that leader becomes like a diamond in the rough for the company, because it also helps employees to increase their productivity. The present investigation aims to analyze what influence the leadership of the Hotel Tivoli de Lisboa has on the motivation of its employees.
To continue the investigation, a questionnaire with a Likert scale was applied to employees from different areas of the Hotel Tivoli, in order to have their perception of the influence of
leadership on employee motivation. For sample selection, a random sampling for finite populations was used for this case of a population of 287 hotel workers, where 126 were
surveyed. The results obtained from the aforementioned instruments illustrate that there is a negative influence on the part of the leadership of the Tivoli hotel in motivating its employees
External walls rehabilitation of prefabricated buildings : residential units of Santo António dos Cavaleiros and Quinta do Morgado
The construction industry is spread excessively thinly in Portugal with about 97,000
companies, a large proportion of them small, which are disorganized and
empirical, with a shortage of qualified personnel and only a small percentage of
firms with over 100 workers are more evolved and utilize advanced technologies,
and these represent about a third of the total volume of business in the sector.
This situation is the basis for low productivity, high costs and lack of quality found
in relation to the production of buildings and, on the other hand, is a brake on
technological evolution in the construction sector.
The market presents strong potential, since the shortage of buildings,
fundamentally in the housing area, is dramatic and far from resolved.
The need to increase productivity, reduce costs and increase the quality of
construction is defended, which justifies the greater intervention of industrialised
construction companies that produce prefabricated elements, thus following the
trend, at international level, towards greater industrialisation of building
construction technologies.
The construction site tends to become a place for the assembly of industrialised
products and prefabricated components, from where interventions are taken to
the factory, and the reduction of these interventions on site favours the working
conditions, the reduction of personnel, the co-ordination of all the activities that
take place there, and also the reduction of the quantity of waste.
Prefabrication companies should organise themselves in terms of obtaining work
and financial continuity, through the diversification and flexibility of their
production, with innovation and creativity, in competitive and quality ways.
As for the rehabilitation of buildings, the exterior vertical building envelopes play a
very important role, together with the roofs, in the protection of the interior space
used and in its life cycle, regarding the aggression of external agents, climatic and
others. Their conception, design and construction technology, understood in the
sense of holistic quality, must take into account fundamental vectors, such as:
hygrothermal and acoustic comfort, indoor air quality, the health of users, energy
saving, the use of renewable energy, the reduction of anomalies and
maintenance costs, and the increase of the life cycle of buildings
