AN ANALYTICAL DISCUSSION ON METHODOLOGICAL RELEVANCE OF DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE COMMITTEE’S EVALUATION CRITERIA
Monitoring and evaluation are modern approaches used to study project logic and these help in solving project problems. Taking a few muscles and bones from social research these studies are growing in the fields. Monitoring and evaluation studies take key methods and tools from social research, particularly operational research. Therefore, these are deemed identical to social research but monitoring and evaluation are not social research. These are deserted children of social research who are growing independently in the fields based on needs. This discussion paper doesn’t explore the history of evaluation but explains the conceptual trajectory of evaluation starting from its mandate to the practice. Development or humanitarian sector is not running based on the theory of demand and supply. The development sector is based on the logic of need and fulfillment. Therefore, evaluation in the development sector is also grounded in need. While explaining the conceptual roots and practices of evaluation in the development sector. Commonly used OECD/DAC evaluation criteria are taken for discussion. Hence the evaluation is an abductive approach of study that focuses on project logic and helps in solving project problems or measuring project results. Therefore, an abductive approach to examination is used in this paper. Coming with the deductive approach, the review starts with theory and ends at practice, and following the inductive approach review starts with practice to help generalizing concepts. Both approaches have limitations when applied to examine evaluation practices and mandate. Because the practices and mandate are already existing in the vacuum of evaluation. Therefore, this specific analysis is an attempt to cognize the linkages between existing evaluation theory and practice. Vivid cognition in building trajectory between evaluation ideology and practice. Leads to recognize the scope of evaluation that ultimately contributes to sophisticated evaluation practices. The journey of this analysis embarks with fundamental questions, why the OECD/DAC criteria are being used for evaluations in the development sector, and considered useful? What are the logical links among evaluation mandate, evaluation approach, evaluation frame “OECD/DAC criteria”, and evaluation methods? Article visualizations
CRAVING LOYALTY: EXAMINING THE INFLUENCE OF LOYALTY PROGRAMS ON CUSTOMER RETENTION IN SOUTH AFRICA’S FAST-FOOD LANDSCAPE
This study investigates the dynamics of customer loyalty within South African fast-food restaurants, focusing on the influence of loyalty programs on customer retention. The background highlights the rapid growth of the South African fast-food industry and the need for a nuanced understanding of customer behavior in this context. Employing a quantitative methods approach employed a cross-sectional design; the methodology includes a comprehensive situational analysis and addresses three research questions: customer motivations for loyalty program participation, factors beyond loyalty programs affecting retention, and the impact of existing loyalty programs on retention. Findings reveal that emotional connections, trustworthiness, and perceived value are key motivators for program participation. Beyond loyalty initiatives, service quality, menu variety, and overall customer experience significantly impact retention. Loyalty program metrics, including participation rates and reward perceived value, play a crucial role in customer loyalty. The study concludes that businesses should tailor loyalty programs to local preferences, adopt a holistic approach to customer retention, and optimize program metrics. The practical implications emphasize the need for clear communication and cultural sensitivity. This research contributes to the academic literature by addressing gaps specific to the South African context and provides actionable insights for businesses aiming to enhance customer loyalty in this dynamic and competitive market.
The current study relates the results of two pieces of research on parental follow-up so as to find out the effect on student performance on one hand, and to examine how the practices of parental follow-up tend to change as students’ progress from primary school to secondary school, on the other. Mixing techniques of both quantitative and qualitative research, the study discovers that practices of parental follow-up tend to diminish as students’ progress in their academic path, and also in function of the socio-economic situations of their parents. While examining the practices of parental-follow-up, this research discovered the kinds of interventions that yield positive effect on student performance, and identified resilience as a strong determinant of performance with students who succeed in school without proper parental follow-up. REASON AND FEELING: THE CHALLENGING JOURNEY OF PAULIN HOUNTONDJI
« Hountondji ? He is a white man » (Combats pour le sens. Un itinéraire africain, 1997 :172). So was he described by the great Rwandese philosopher Alexis Kagame. Many other African scholars, though they do not express it, would agree with Kagame. But who is really Hountondji? What has been so far his main intellectual focus? Has his commitment to the defense of reason as universality been relevant to Africa and to the world at large? As an African, has he ever made any place for feeling and for Africa in his thought? Those are the questions which have been examined in this reflection. The analytical and deductive method we have used in this paper has led us to two main results. Firstly, though Hountondji is one of the most outstanding African philosophers, there is a lot of feeling in his life and in his thought. Secondly, far from being a Eurocentric thinker, Hountondji is really concerned and engaged with the well-being of the African continent.« Hountondji ? Article visualizations

PLASTIC WASTE RECYCLING AND ITS IMPLICATIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN MBARE, HARARE, ZIMBABWE
This study examines the alternatives for recycling of plastic waste and gives a general overview of the main environmental issues related to plastic disposal. It gives a rundown of the amounts and sorts of plastics in the waste stream and furthermore the primary impacts of recycling on the plastic material itself, the environment and also the national economy. The two main types of recycling are mechanical and chemical recycling. The research also compares the methods of recycling which are already in use and selecting the best in a bid to save the environment from pollution. The study also seeks to discover the challenges and benefits associated with plastic waste recycling. Questionnaires, interviews and observations were used to conduct the study. Data was analysed through hand tallying in the form of tables, graphs and pie charts. From the main findings, there is a lot of plastic waste in Mbare (Harare) because of the shortage of bins and an ineffective waste collection system. However, the plastic waste collection system should be complimented by the Harare city council which should register waste collectors and recyclers for incentives by signing agreement contract terms with them. Mbare has become the most ideal urban area to develop a waste collection centre as plastic waste has become a major problem. Article visualizations

CO-INTEGRATION ANALYSIS OF REMITTANCES, EXPORTS, AND GDP IN BANGLADESH: IMPLICATIONS FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND UNEMPLOYMENT REDUCTION
Remittances and exports are significant sources of foreign exchange earnings for developing nations. This study explores the relationship between remittances, exports, and economic development in Bangladesh. Using the Johansen co-integration approach, the study finds evidence of co-integration among the variables. The results also show that remittances have a significant positive effect on the gross domestic product (GDP) of Bangladesh, while exports do not have a direct impact on GDP. Furthermore, the Granger causality test reveals that there is no significant and positive relationship between remittances and exports. The study suggests that remittances play a vital role in the economic development of Bangladesh by creating employment opportunities, increasing the level of reserves amount, making payments on imports, balancing the balance of payments, and developing other socio-economic aspects. This is especially important in a country where unemployment is a significant issue, and every day the rate of unemployment is increasing. Therefore, policymakers should take into consideration the potential risks and benefits of migration and remittances and adopt appropriate policies to mitigate any negative impacts. Overall, this study contributes to the literature on the impact of remittances and exports on economic development and provides important policy implications for reducing unemployment in Bangladesh.
