MOTIVATION AND ITS INFLUENCE ON TASK PERFORMANCE IN A WORKPLACE: A STUDY OF ACCESS BANK GHANA / LA MOTIVATION ET SON INFLUENCE SUR L'EXÉCUTION DES TÂCHES SUR UN LIEU DE TRAVAIL : UNE ÉTUDE D'ACCESS BANK GHANA
Motivation plays a crucial role in the growth and development of organizations. Employees perform better when they are motivated to carry out the assigned responsibilities. Against this backdrop, this study sought to examine the relationship between motivation and task performance. The first objective was to examine if there were any gender variations in task performance among Bank employees. The second goal of the study was to investigate how motivation affects task performance. The third goal of the study was to investigate how both internal and external factors affected task performance. This study utilized a quantitative approach and a purposive sampling technique to sample 103 participants. A structured questionnaire was used in collecting data from 103 respondents. The findings suggested that there were no gender differences concerning the level of task performance. Motivation had a positive influence on task performance. The study also found through a multiple regression that internal motivation had a more positive influence on task performance than external motivation. Based on the findings, the study recommended that the management of Access Bank should endeavour to redesign new policies which will ensure that primary intrinsic motivational factors are identified and implemented as that has the propensity to enhance the performance of tasks by employees. THE DEADLY ANGELS AND THEIR JUNGIAN REDEMPTION, A TALE OF A SOUTHERN MILITIA
Becker (1996) said that militias are right-wing populist movements that form from frustrations, in particular when the economy is poor. Outwardly, unrest fuels paramilitary forces, the unconscious incarnation of its hero-myths, and the accompanying symbols in the racial unconscious. Here, heroes are born out of necessity, specifically by some who rose above poverty. Using the Jungian model, Frye proposes the seasons as the phases where a hero follows the seasonal narratives from birth to tragedy, death and rebirth. Here, the Angels, a paramilitary force, reaches the pinnacle of their achievement, the Redemption of their identity via all four phases, fully vindicated in the memories of their survivors despite their pejorative origins. After furtive sessions with the survivors, the deepest unconscious embedded in Jungian archetype of the collective psyche was discovered. The undertones were deeply religious and arresting to discover that the militia provided for the needs of the townsfolk for immediate relief and basic needs such as food, shelter and clothing which explains the positive impression of those who have survived the phenomenon. QUESTIONING IF THE LITERARY NARRATIVE AND REAL-LIFE STORIES OVERLAP WITH TODAY'S REALITIES: THE EXAMPLE OF "ANNE WITH AN E" TV SERIAL
In this study, there are three key topics are explored and discussed. It is first and foremost vital to examine whether the series in question is appropriate for viewers who are older than eight years old. In the second evaluation, it is examined whether contemporary realities and literary narratives have any overlap. This implies that issues related to history, society, psychology, and modernity are approached from a fresh angle. Last but not least, it has to do with the potential social effects of adjusting historical tales to the present. This entails reassessing the past or historical narratives from the viewpoint of the present. However, the key inquiry is: How closely does a film's core meaning align with the meaning that is revealed after seeing it? What about a movie's relevance alters when it's watched again after some time? This study addresses the film-audience connection in two separate ways under the category of "meaning." The relationship between the meaning that viewers derive from the movie's content while watching it is the main topic of discussion. The second is the text's complementary meaning as revealed by its social, psychological, or historical elements. Article visualizations

COMPUTER SCIENCE AND PRIMARY EDUCATION TEACHERS’ PERCEPTIONS, IN USING DIGITAL GAMES AS LEARNING TOOLS. OBSTACLES AND FACTORS THAT LEAD TO THEIR EFFECTIVE USE
Over the last decade, in addition to their entertainment dimension, digital games, have been used as teaching and learning tools. International literature has shown several studies that evaluate the effectiveness of digital games in the educational process. Many researchers argue that digital games can be of assistance to student’s learning and solving problems, as well as develop social and cognitive skills (Gee 2003, Prensky 2007, Oblinger & Oblinger 2005, Watson et al. 2011). This research aimed to computer science teachers and primary education teacher’s perceptions, regarding the use of digital games, as a teaching and learning tool, the factors that make their use effective, not to mention the barriers to their use. One hundred twenty teachers participated (70 computer science teachers and 50 teachers), by completing a questionnaire of fifteen questions, on a Likert scale and two open-ended questions. Results demonstrated that both teachers and computer educators agree that the use of digital games is a "good" practice, which enhances and enriches the learning process, provides motivation, and is an effective learning tool. Their design should be addressed to students’ personal needs and be based on learning principles. However, it has been observed that computer educators are the ones who use digital games in their teaching, more often as opposed to teachers. The main obstacles that prevent teachers from using technology in their classrooms are the lack of infrastructure, motivation, training, as well as the time available. The elements that seem to be taken into consideration by a teacher, in order to capitalize on digital games in the educational process, are personal needs and students’ particularities, as well as preparation, feedback and the setting of limits by the teachers. Research findings could be utilized in both digital play use in education and in its development, as a learning tool. Article visualizations
MODELLING THE EFFECT OF WORKPLACE STRESS MANAGEMENT ON INSTITUTION’S PERFORMANCE IN RWANDA: A CASE EVIDENCE FROM KIBOGORA LEVEL II TEACHING HOSPITAL, RWANDA
The study titled Modelling the effect of workplace stress management on institution’s performance in Rwanda: A case evidence from Kibogora Level II Teaching Hospital, Rwanda was about assessing the contribution of workplace stress management on institution’s performance in the area under study. The study was guided with the objective of exploring the utilization of multinomial logistic regression (MLR) in modeling the effect of workplace stress management on an institution’s performance. In this regard, the MLR model was performed using a maximum likelihood estimation method on the data set collected to find the parameter estimates of the model describing the relationship between the independent and the dependent variables and determine the significance of the predictor variables that contribute significantly to the institution’s performance in the area under study. The study adopted both qualitative and quantitative approaches to collect data from 321 respondents. Data were collected using questionnaire and interview schedule techniques and analyzed using SPSS-23. In this analysis, the results revealed that on the total of twelve explanatory variables, the explanatory variables such as age, gender, the status of licensed or not and own avoidance of stress at the workplace of the workers were dropped from the training set of predictors variables that contribute significantly to the institution’s performance at Kibogora Level II Teaching Hospital, Rwanda. In the model selection that overall fits well the data, the obtained variables that contributed significantly to the dependent variable were Status of workers who faced the issue of having a stress at the workplace, education level of the workers to whom the study was conducted, working experience of the workers, the main applied stress preventive measures at Kibogora Level II Teaching Hospital and knowledge on the strategies to use for coping with the stress of workers working at Kibogora Level II Teaching Hospital. The parameters estimate of the selected model revealed that the explanatory variables that best predicted the probability of increasing the institution’s performance at Kibogora Level II Teaching Hospital once the stress management is controlled at the workplace were education level of the workers, working experience of the workers and main stress preventive measures applied by Kibogora Level II Teaching hospital. Finally, the study recommended that regarding stress preventive measures adopted in the area under study, the top management of Kibogora Level II Teaching Hospital in partnership with other funders should be ensure that all employees are trained on how to avoid occupational hazards and most importantly, the hospital need to provide recreational activities to the employees. On stress source identification, the study recommends that Kibogora Level II Teaching Hospital needs to increase incentives to employees for motivation while on duty and the hospital staff should as well be increased so as to reduce the challenge of work overloaded. SUSTAINABLE FIRM PERFORMANCE THROUGH PRODUCT DIFFERENTIATION STRATEGIES; THE HIDDEN TREASURE OF CUSTOMER LOYALTY
The study sort to establish the mediating effect of customer loyalty on the relationship between product differentiation strategies and the performance of selected edible oils manufacturing firms in Kenya. Using the Baron & Kenny (1986) four-step approach for conducting mediation analysis, the study hypothesized the relationship between product differentiation strategies and firm performance, product differentiation strategies and customer loyalty, customer loyalty and firm performance and finally the mediation relationship between product differentiation strategies, customer loyalty and firm performance. The study employed an explanatory research design and was guided by the discrete choice theory of competitive advantage and the customer loyalty business model. The target population was 535,840 of which 104 were top and middle-level employees from the sales and marketing departments of the three selected edible oils manufacturing firms and 535,736 were consumers of the products within the middle-class estates in Nairobi. A sample size of 504 respondents was used for the study. Structured questionnaires were used to collect primary data and a document analysis guide was used to collect secondary data which was then analysed using descriptive statistics, linear regression and correlation analysis. The results revealed that customer loyalty (R-square change = .028 had a p-value = .005) has a positive mediating effect on the relationship between product differentiation strategies and the performance of the selected edible oils manufacturing firms in Kenya. CAPACITY BUILDING AND ITS EFFECT ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE: A CASE OF ACCRA TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY, GHANA / LE RENFORCEMENT DES CAPACITÉS ET SES EFFETS SUR LA PERFORMANCE DES EMPLOYÉS : UN CAS DE UNIVERSITÉ TECHNIQUE D'ACCRA, GHANA
Every institution or organisation must now deal with the capacity building because the quality of human resources is helpful to any firm. Due to variables like the degree of external change, such as new markets or processes, the compliance of existing employees, and most importantly, the degree to which the organisation supports the idea of internal career development, the quantity and quality of training carried out greatly varies from organisation to organisation. Unlike some businesses, which start by recognising their training needs, then plan training activities logically, and then assess the results of training, most organisations satisfy their training needs in an ad hoc and random manner. Therefore, this study used Accra Technical University as a case study to examine the effects of capacity building on employee development in public sector firms. The goal of the study was to ascertain the function of staff capacity building, with a special focus on administrators who were arbitrarily chosen. The study evaluated Accra Technical University's training and development programme and examined whether employee performance has increased as a result of training. To gather primary data from university personnel, a questionnaire was created using structured questions. The findings suggested that employees were not properly informed about the organization's training and development programmes. The majority of employees believed that personal and organisational success could be achieved through training and development. The results showed that, in terms of the generally accepted planned and methodical structure of the training process, training techniques, methodologies, and activities were the best practises. The university should assist its workers by developing structured programmes for training and development of its employees, among other things, as well as ensuring that the procedures involved in training are properly followed. REGULATION OF SMALL ARMS AND LIGHT WEAPONS IN KENYA: THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NAIROBI PROTOCOL
Global reports show significant attempts that the UN and member states have attempted at combating illicit small arms and light weapons (SALW) and its related facets since 2001. There are several international instruments with coverage from global, continental, regional and national on this aspect. The focus of this study is on the national regulations which states that are signatory to the relevant regional conventions relating to SALW are progressing in terms of implementation through national regulations. The effectiveness of various regulation frameworks however, varies from state to state. This research lays emphasis on local implementation of the 2004 Nairobi protocol on prevention, control and reduction of SALW in the Great Lakes Region and the Horn of Africa, using Kenya as a case study. Through illustrations, it demonstrates the status of the implementation of the prevention, control and reduction efforts applied by Kenya as part of its individual effort to fight SALW in the region and surrounding countries. By doing these, the research looks at discourse analysis through practical facts that have historically been demonstrated by Kenya’s mainstream media investigative reports, globally sponsored national surveys by both non-state and state actors and of course the Kenya National Focal point on SALW. It hopes to inform policy of the effectiveness of the regulatory mechanisms applied locally toward achieving the key objective of the Nairobi Protocol. Article visualizations
