RISK MANAGEMENT AND PROFITABILITY OF QUOTED BANKS IN NIGERIA
The role of risk management in the performance of banks cannot be over-emphasized. This study, therefore, examines the effect of risk management on bank profitability in Nigeria by employing correlation analysis, pooled ordinary least square estimate, and fixed and random effect estimations between 2007 and 2020. Secondary data on return on asset (dependent variable), Liquidity risk, Credit Risk, Operational Risk, Market Risk, Capital Risk and Bank size are sourced from annual audited accounts of six deposit money banks listed on NSE. The result reveals that return on asset is negatively impacted by liquidity risk, capital risk and bank size while it significantly and positively impacted marketing risk but insignificantly and positively related to operational risk and credit risk. The study concludes that there is a slight tendency for liquidity risk and capital risk to reduce the return on asset. In Nigeria, credit risk continues to be the biggest threat to commercial banks, making precise measurement and credit risk management absolutely essential. Therefore, it is recommended that managements of listed commercial banks should support sound operational and credit risk management. This is paramount in order to engender a positive risk culture in line with best global practices that would prevent financial crisis and improve commercial banks' performance in Nigeria, among other countries.JEL: G21, G32 Article visualizations

Public health is one of the priorities of economic, social and environmental development policies in Côte d'Ivoire. However, health care access for populations in general and in particular for farmers in the Gontougo region remains, despite the availability of health facilities. This situation is due to a number of factors in said Region. The objective of this study is to identify the determinants of health care access for farmers in the Gontougo region. The data collection is based on consultation of general works related to the theme and specific works related to aspects of geographical distribution, economic, social and environmental aspects. A questionnaire was administered to heads of household and the interview guide was used for health center managers in Gontougo. This study shows that the attendance rate in this area is 26.68% and the rate of use of health services is 24%. And the determinants of this low attendance of modern health centers for farmers in the Gontougo region are linked to certain socio-demographic, economic, environmental and cultural factors. The distance, the size of the household, the reception of health workers, the sanitary environment, the unsanitary nature of the sanitary structures, the annual income, the cost of transport, the proximity of the place of residence and the use of traditional medicine have an impact on farmers' access to modern health centres. CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION: A SERIOUS THREAT TO GLOBAL SECURITY
Climate change and environmental degradation have been considered global issues apart from being graded as emerging issues. Climate change is a significant trend because of the adverse conditions witnessed already, and the implications likely to result when the situation is not addressed. The main causes of climate change and environmental degradation are human activities such as burning fossils, deforestation, and human settlement. The decline of the environment has led to national and international security risks as it is linked to food shortages, climate change calamities such as floods or famine, drought, loss of lives, soil erosion, and crop failure due to limited water resources. Countries have had to come together to find lasting solutions to climate change and the decline of the environment as it has raised concern across the world. Besides, there have been solutions that have been agreed by researchers that would minimize the risks of climate change and the decline of the environment, such as afforestation, avoiding the use of plastics, and recycling of waste products. Therefore, environmentally friendly activities have been encouraged in countries across the globe. Article visualizations
EFFECT OF CREDIT RISK MANAGEMENT ON THE FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE OF BANKING SECTOR OF BANGLADESH: A STUDY ON GENERATION-BASED SELECTED LISTED COMMERCIAL BANKS
The financial sector of the country is mostly comprised of banking institutions; those are leading the economy with great exposure with the contribution to the development process. However, the banking sector of Bangladesh is disturbed by the large-scale amount of non-performing loans while has become an essential part of the finance of the industries. As part of the measurement of credit risk and macro factors average lending rate, inflation, NPL size, capital adequacy ratio, liquidity ratio have been selected to test the influence on the financial performance found through the return on asset of the selected banks. To conduct the study 9 banks of three generations have been selected for the period of 2016 to 2022. Robust least square method of regression and error correction term have been run to oversee the real impact on financial performance while endogenity and random walk in the values are being considered to overcome through a dynamic regression model. NPL has a negative impact on the performance and average lending rate, inflation, liquidity ratio and capital adequacy ratio bring a positive impact on the financial performance of the banks. Breusch-Pagan LM test confirms that cross-sectional dependency exists and VAR serial correlation test finds autocorrelation in the data set. The policy implication of this study suggests that the high NPL ratio must be reduced and CAR and LR must be improved to get the desired results of the performance. Strong fiscal and banking regulation should implement so that governance can be ensured to create responsibility and financial strength.JEL: E4, D81, E33, E44 Article visualizations

UNRAVELING CAREER DEVELOPMENT PRACTICES AND EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT IN SOUTH AFRICAN LOGISTICS COMPANIES
This study delves into the dynamics of career development practices and employee engagement within logistics companies in Durban City, South Africa. Employing a descriptive-correlational research design, the investigation sought answers to key questions regarding the extent of career development practices, the levels of employee engagement, and the relationship between these two critical aspects. The study focused on a sample of 215 employees from five logistics companies in Durban City, South Africa, employing a stratified random sampling approach tailored to the unique characteristics of each company. Primary data collection was conducted through a structured questionnaire, validated for content relevance and reliability, ensuring the instrument's consistency. Ethical principles, including informed consent, anonymity, voluntarism, and confidentiality, were rigorously upheld throughout the study. Data analysis utilized weighted mean and Pearson correlation as statistical tools. The main findings reveal a significant gap in the implementation of career development practices, particularly in essential areas such as career planning, succession planning, and career training. These deficiencies, reflected in low average weighted means, call for strategic interventions to address critical aspects of employee growth and development. Additionally, the study identifies suboptimal levels of cognitive, behavioral, and emotional engagement among employees in logistics companies, emphasizing the need for comprehensive enhancement. A noteworthy discovery is the strong positive correlation between career development practices and employee engagement, highlighted by a robust Pearson Correlation of .887. This statistically significant relationship underscores the interconnectedness of these factors, suggesting that addressing identified gaps in career development practices could catalyze improvements in overall employee engagement within logistics companies. In conclusion, these findings collectively advocate for the enhancement of career development practices as a catalyst for improving employee engagement, fostering a more dynamic and productive workforce. The study's recommendations include the implementation of comprehensive career development programs, prioritization of engagement initiatives, and the integration of technological solutions for career training. These strategies, tailored to the evolving business landscape, hold the potential to contribute to the overall success and sustainability of logistics companies in South Africa. FACTORS THAT DISCOURAGE HIGHLY EDUCATED WOMEN FROM BEING ENTREPRENEURS
Men have traditionally dominated the entrepreneurial arena because women's expected roles have traditionally been focused on marriage and the household. Despite accounting for more than half of the population, the majority of women are excluded from the formal business environment. Their contribution to the business is primarily concentrated in the areas of crafts, hawking, personal services, and retail. However, the entrepreneurial landscape has shifted, with women becoming the fastest-growing group of entrepreneurs, although anecdotal evidence suggests that highly educated women's participation in business is low. The goal of this study was to find out, if any, factors that discourage highly educated women from being entrepreneurs. The study was situated in the interpretivist paradigm, with twenty carefully chosen highly educated Zimbabwean women responding to emailed semi-structured questionnaires that were thematically analysed. The study found out that the factors that discourage highly educated women from being entrepreneurs included high societal expectations of educated women, negative attitudes towards entrepreneurship, male chauvinism, salaried job security and risk aversion. This study focused on this often-overlooked group of women who, if properly groomed, can make a significant contribution to society. The implication of the study was that women with high academic qualifications needed to develop positive mind sets towards entrepreneurship and serve as role models for prospective women entrepreneurs.
