EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED: AN APPROACH TO QUALITATIVE NETWORK RESEARCH. SOCIOLOGICAL REMARKS ON PERSPECTIVES, COMPLEXITIES, AND DIFFICULTIES
Social Νetwork Αnalysis (SNA) is an important methodological approach but also a valuable instrument for research in social sciences and social issues, including Diversity, Social Capital, and the Trust Crisis. More precisely, a network consists of sets of nodes, ties, and sometimes attributes. Nodes refer to elements of the researcher's project and ties are based on the researcher's interests. In a network, the vital components are the connections and patterns. In the past, the scientific community merely associated social network analysis (SNA) with the quantitative methodological approach. However, this approach has begun to be revised in recent years because the quantitative approach can only solve specific cases that arise in society. On the contrary, qualitative SNA can generate and examine data on numerous social issues. The qualitative SNA is an in-depth approach focusing on the social subject and its connections with other social subjects, institutions, or organizations. This study highlights the importance of a qualitative SNA and offers a distinctive approach to qualitative SNA in the research field. Article visualizations
STABILITY OF MONEY DEMAND IN SIERRA LEONE USING AUTOREGRESSIVE DISTRIBUTED LAG (ARDL) APPROACH 1980 – 2018
This work seeks to investigate whether money demand is stable in Sierra Leone. The study uses annual data for the period 1980 to 2018. A standard money demand is defined and estimated using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach. This technique permits error correction modeling to examine the short and long-run relationship between money demand and its determinants. The determinants of money demand (MD) are Real Gross Domestic Product GDP(Y) Real Exchange Rate (RER), Real Interest rate (RIR), GDP Deflator used as a proxy for inflation rate were empirically examined to determine their relative statistical significance as they affect money demand. In advance of adopting the ARDL Approach, the time series properties of the variables in the model were examined using the ADF and PP tests. All variable was found to be I(1) - stationary at the first difference, therefore the use of ADRL Approach is suitable and ideal. The model used in this study has passed all of the diagnostic tests – specification, serial correlation, heteroscedasticity, and structural stability. Hence the estimated model cannot be spurious. Therefore, these results are not misleading, rather they are reliable. The test of stability was done using CUSUM and CUSUMSQ plots, and both suggest that there exists a stable relationship between real broad money demand in Sierra Leone and its determinants. BUSINESS CYCLE, MACROECONOMIC INDICATORS AND ECONOMIC GROWTH. THE SIERRA LEONE EXPERIENCE
The study investigates the impact of business cycle fluctuation on economic growth in Sierra Leone using the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model bound testing framework with annual time series data for the period 1992 to 2022. The result from the unit root shows that the variables are mixed variables of I (0) and I (1) variable series, while the bound test testifies that there is an existence of cointegration in the long run. The long-run result reveals that domestic credit to the private sector, inflation, lending interest rate, and broad money supply are the main determinants of the business cycle fluctuation on the economic growth in Sierra Leone. The result shows that broad money supply portrays a positive effect on the business cycle economic growth and statistically it is not significant at the 0.05 level of significance. It implies that for every 1% increase in the broad money supply, the business environment will be improved by 0.220 in the long run. This result implies that an increase in money supply is part of an expansionary monetary policy that tends to boost the industrial sector by expanding the investment which tends to create employment and improve the business cycle and economic growth in Sierra Leone. Policymakers are therefore encouraged to further enhance the power of appropriate monetary authorities in introducing both monetary and credit policies that will serve to increase the broad money supply. POLICE PUBLIC TRUST IN RELATION TO PEACEFUL BEHAVIOR, FEAR OF CRIME, AND CONTEXTUAL VICTIMIZATION PERCEPTION OF COMMUNITY LEADERS
This study aimed to develop the best-fit model of police public trust in the context of community leaders in Region IX. This study used a quantitative research design, employing Pearson correlation, reliability analysis using SPSS, and structural equation modeling (SEM) to evaluate the best-fit model for police public trust. A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect data from 435 community leaders in Region IX who participated in the study. Findings revealed that peaceful behavior and fear of crime obtained a high level, while contextual victimization perception posted a moderate level, and police public trust acquired a high level. Results also revealed that there were significant relationships between peaceful behavior and police public trust, but fear of crime and contextual victimization perception towards police public trust were discovered to be not associated. Further, Model 3 best fits the public trust of the police in the Davao Region. The regression analysis indicates a strong and increasing positive relationship between exogenous and peaceful behavior, while fear of crime can lead to less peaceful behavior and the influence of victimization perception decreases over time. Also, the covariance analysis shows a strong positive relationship between fear of crime and victimization perception, a weaker positive link between peaceful behavior and victimization perception, and a nearly significant but weak connection between peaceful behavior and fear of crime. UNDERSTANDING CONSUMERS’ ENGAGEMENT AND ADOPTION OF SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING IN FASHION INDUSTRY IN SAUDI ARABIA: INSIGHTS THROUGH THE LENS OF THE THEORY OF PLANNED BEHAVIOR
This study explores the adoption of social media marketing activities by the fashion industry, examining context through The Theory of Planned Behavior. As social media continues to dominate as a pivotal marketing arena, understanding consumers’ engagement across various platforms becomes imperative for marketers and researchers alike. This research aimed to ascertain if the Theory of Planned Behavior could effectively elucidate as well as predict consumers’ engagement with social media marketing activities beyond a single platform. Conducting a non-probability convenience sampling method, the study involved 656 participants above 18 years old residing in Saudi Arabia. An online survey gathered data, subsequently analyzed through regression analyses. Results revealed that attitude emerged as the most influential factor in predicting behavioral intent to be involved with social media marketing activities, tracked closely by subjective norms. Intriguingly, perceived behavioral control did not significantly predict this behavioral intent. Furthermore, the intention to engage demonstrated a strong association with actual engagement. The implications suggest a strategic focus for social media marketers: influencing attitudes and subjective norms to heighten engagement across diverse social media platforms. Additionally, the study indicates a shift towards the Theory of Reasoned Action as a more appropriate predictive model for engagement, excluding perceived behavioral control. These insights offer valuable guidance for businesses seeking to optimize their social media, and marketing strategies across various platforms within the Fashioned industry. Article visualizations
The aim of the study was to examine the effect of play-based learning and emotion regulation strategies on affective engagement in Ivorian students during the primary-secondary post-transition period. 40 students from disadvantaged backgrounds who had participated in a school transition support activity were tested twice (before and after the intervention) using the affective engagement scale of Archambault et al. (2009). The strategies they prefer to use to regulate their emotions in various school activities were listed and classified as functional or dysfunctional according to their adaptive functionality. The results obtained using the stata 16 indicate that participation in play-based learning activities creates an increase in affective engagement in subjects using functional strategies and slows down affective disengagement in students using dysfunctional emotion regulation strategies. This information could be used by practitioners to prevent school dropout in disadvantaged areas. Article visualizations
