INVESTIGATING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LEADERSHIP STYLES AND TURNOVER INTENTION IN BPO SECTORS IN DIGOS CITY, PHILIPPINES

    Get PDF
The Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry has consistently witnessed tremendous growth, but it has a chronic problem of high employee turnover, which is both expensive and recurring. This quantitative research investigates the relationship of leadership styles, such as transformational, transactional, autocratic, and laissez-faire leadership, on turnover intention of one hundred seventy-nine (179) rank-and-file employees from BPO sectors in Digos City, Philippines. The researchers used the 5-point Likert scale to measure the respondents' rate of agreement or disagreement with each statement of the two variables. Statistical techniques such as mean and Pearson's r were also used to measure the correlation between the variables. The examined data revealed a high descriptive level of overall leadership styles and a very low descriptive level of turnover intention among the participants. It also revealed a weak and statistically non-significant correlation between the two variables (r = 0.061, p = 0.415). The results suggested that while leadership styles are visibly practiced within these organizations, they do not appear to be the primary determinant of employees' decisions to stay or leave in the BPO sectors in Digos City.JEL: M12 – Personnel Management; Executive Compensation; Executive Pay; J63 – Turnover; Vacancies; Layoffs; J24 – Human Capital; Skills; Occupational Choice; Labor Productivity; M54 – Labor Management; C12 – Hypothesis Testin

HOMOSEXUALITY PRACTICE IN BUKAVU AGAINST GOD’S WILL - A STUDY OF ROMANS 1: 24-28

    Get PDF
This research aims at identifying different types of homosexuality, its causes and ill-omened consequences in Romans 1:24–28 and, especially in Bukavu, our town. It also aims to demonstrate that the Lord God hates homosexuality according to Romans 1:24–28. In an attempt to meet these objectives, the following methods were employed: The historico-grammatical method was used to analyse the text verse-by-verse. This literary and grammatical analysis was done in order to determine the author’s attitude towards homosexuality. A comparative method was employed to explain a difficult word with parallel biblical references. In other words, to facilitate the interpretation of tough expressions, the Holy Scripture was compared to the Holy Scripture. Thanks to the documentary method, books and pictures related to this topic were respectively collected as scientific sources and by way of illustration. The research findings reveal that lesbians and sodomites are two types of homosexuals. These are severely reprimanded by God’s word for sinful acts or desires of their hearts, shameful lusts and unwillingness to retain the knowledge of God (Romans 1:24-28). Apart from those biblical causes, in Bukavu town, same-sex attractions are supported by non-profit organizations such as Civil Society, Rainbow Sunrise Mapambazuko and Synergia-Initiatives. As the inevitable result, homosexuality practice makes them to degrade their bodies with one another, to lie, to be linked to idolatry. Therefore, according to the above God’s Word, they deserve death. Article visualizations

This study aimed to assess the effect of Serious Game Educational on the acquisition of written language skills in German in a non-formal setting. A total of 23 students from different state universities, aged between 19 and 23, participated in an Educational Serious Game session through a game called "Deutsche Straße" knowing that all students had no experience in the German language. The students were divided into groups of 4 players for each game session, which lasted between 30 minutes and an hour. A German Word Play Learning Assessment Questionnaire was administered prior to the intervention (t0) and immediately after each session (t1). This questionnaire is in the form of a multiple-choice question with 107 items which is called "Deutsh Straße Quiz". These items represent the translation of different German words from the game provided by an expert in German language translation. A second satisfaction questionnaire that measures the feeling of competence (Dumont et al., 2000). The results showed an average relative learning gain of more than 40% for the majority of students. In addition, there is a sufficient sense of competence following the game. These results suggest that the use of Serious Game Educational in academia in a formal educational setting can be an effective way for students to read and comprehend the German language. Article visualizations

This article aims to examine the factors that influence foreign direct investment (FDI) and its effects on Sierra Leone's economic expansion. Understanding the elements that draw foreign direct investment (FDI) and its overall effects on the recipient country's economy is crucial as FDI has long been acknowledged as a driver for economic development in developing nations. This study used a mixed-methods approach to examine the factors influencing foreign direct investment (FDI) in Sierra Leone by analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data. Interviews with important stakeholders, including government officials, foreign investors, and industry experts, are used to analyze factors such as political stability, institutional quality, market size, natural resources, and infrastructure. Secondary data are statistically analyzed to determine the importance of these determinants. In addition, the study evaluates how FDI affects Sierra Leone's economic expansion. Analyzing macroeconomic data like GDP growth, employment rates, trade patterns, and technology transfer are necessary for this research. The research offers a thorough understanding of the direct and indirect effects of FDI on the nation's economy by utilizing both descriptive and econometric methodologies. The results of this study have added to the body of information already available on foreign direct investment (FDI) and its effects on economic growth in developing nations, with a particular emphasis on Sierra Leone. Policymakers, government organizations, and investors will be able to create focused strategies to draw in and maximize the advantages of FDI for sustainable economic development with the help of the results, which offers insightful information. JEL: F21, F23, O55, O11, C83, C18, P48  Article visualizations
