BETWEEN LIVELIHOOD AND HERITAGE: THE FUTURE OF FLOATING MARKETS IN THE MEKONG DELTA
Floating markets in the Mekong Delta represent a unique socio-economic and cultural form rooted in aquatic livelihoods and long-standing community traditions. However, these spaces are increasingly challenged by shifting economic structures, environmental degradation, and the expansion of tourism. This study explores the contemporary transformation of five key floating markets between 2018 and 2024, focusing on the tensions between preserving cultural heritage and sustaining local livelihoods. Drawing on interdisciplinary frameworks and combining qualitative research with descriptive quantitative data, the article examines how floating markets are reconfiguring as part of broader socio-ecological changes. It identifies significant challenges, such as the erosion of trade functions, climate-related impacts, and fragmented governance. In response, the paper proposes six strategic pathways for conservation and sustainable development, positioning floating markets not only as symbolic heritage sites but as dynamic community systems central to the future of the Mekong Delta. OFF-PLAN PROPERTY SALES: A COMPARISON STUDY OF VIETNAM’S AND DUBAI (UAE)’S LEGAL FRAMEWORK
Off-plan property sales offer various attractive forms of property transactions, which have grown rapidly in popularity worldwide. In this context, in Dubai, the second largest emirate of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Vietnam, the off-plan property market has also been developing and attracting not only local investors but foreigners all around the world. However, due to its nature, which is available for purchase before it has been constructed, off-plan property sales lead to many potential risks involved to both sellers and buyers. Therefore, to protect the interests of the parties as well as stabilize the real estate market, it is necessary for each country or region to develop a legal framework governing this transaction. Within the scope of the article, the author focuses on analyzing regulations on off-plan property sales in Vietnam and the Emirate of Dubai governing requirements to engage in off-plan property sales, rights and obligations of the developer and buyer, and payment in off-plan property sales; comparing and contrasting those of these two legal systems to show similarities and differences, thereby suggesting some recommendations for Vietnam in improving the legal framework for off-plan property sales. CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT ADOPTION AS A DRIVER OF LOYALTY: A STUDY OF SMALL-SCALE BUSINESSES IN ONITSHA, NIGERIA
In today’s increasingly competitive business environment, cultivating strong relationships with customers has become vital for the sustainability and growth of small-scale enterprises. Customer Relationship Management (CRM) strategies offer businesses the tools to enhance customer satisfaction, build loyalty, and remain resilient in dynamic market conditions. Particularly for small-scale businesses in developing urban centers, CRM plays a crucial role in improving service delivery and fostering repeat patronage. However, the extent to which these businesses understand, adopt, and integrate CRM practices varies significantly and is often influenced by contextual factors such as technological readiness, organizational structure, and resource availability. This study examined the perceived extent of CRM strategy adoption and its relationship with customer loyalty among small-scale retail businesses in Onitsha, Nigeria. It explored CRM practices in terms of customer orientation, CRM technology, knowledge management, and CRM organization, as well as customer loyalty through behavioral and attitudinal dimensions. Using a descriptive-correlational design, data were gathered from 240 business owners or managers and 240 customers selected through purposive sampling. Findings revealed that while small-scale businesses focus on relationship-building and personalized service, they inconsistently utilize customer feedback. CRM technology adoption is minimal, and although businesses use customer information to enhance service, structured knowledge management systems are lacking. Internal prioritization of CRM is evident, yet formal CRM structures remain underdeveloped. Customers exhibit repeat buying behavior, indicating moderate behavioral loyalty, but their emotional connection to businesses remains limited. A strong to moderate positive correlation was found between CRM adoption and customer loyalty, underscoring CRM's role in customer retention. However, challenges such as limited technical skills, high software costs, and infrastructural barriers hinder CRM implementation. The study concludes by recommending increased support through training, subsidies, and system development to enhance CRM adoption and sustain customer loyalty.JEL: M31, M15, L81, O33 Article visualizations
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUSNESS AND GREEN CONSUMER BEHAVIOUR IN MALAYSIA’S PETROLEUM INDUSTRY: UNPACKING THE ATTITUDE–BEHAVIOUR GAP AND THE ROLE OF PERCEIVED VALUE
This study examines the relationship between environmental consciousness (constituents of environmental awareness, environmental concern, and environmental attitude), perceived value, and purchasing behaviour for green personal care products among employees working in the petroleum industry in Malaysia. This study adopted a quantitative research design, and 94 respondents provided the data through structured questionnaires that were administered to executive-level employees in three major petroleum companies in Malaysia. The findings showed definite relationships exist between purchasing behaviour and environmental awareness, concern, and attitude. However, the proposed mediating role of value was not substantiated. This finding suggests that while employees with an environmentally conscious inclination do purchase green personal care products, the perceived value does not at all impact or qualitatively explain this behaviour. In terms of sustainability, environmentally friendly inks, recyclable papers, and energy-efficient production techniques stand out. The study analyzes the current situation in Turkey through open-access policies, the contributions of national platforms (DergiPark, ULAKBİM), and domestic digital publishing initiatives. In addition, a SWOT analysis is used to evaluate the sector’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The findings indicate that the future of publishing will be shaped at the intersection of hybrid models, AI-assisted content management, and sustainability principles. Article visualizations

This article provides an in-depth examination of crisis management within the tourism industry, emphasizing the critical processes of preparedness, response, and recovery that are essential when facing a wide range of unexpected crises, including natural disasters, health emergencies such as pandemics, and socio-political instability. Recognizing the tourism sector’s inherent vulnerability due to its dependence on safe, accessible, and stable environments, the study explores how destinations, tourism enterprises, and governmental bodies develop and implement comprehensive strategies to mitigate risks and reduce the negative impacts on travelers and local economies. The article systematically reviews the key components of effective crisis management: risk assessment techniques that identify potential threats and vulnerabilities; crisis communication practices that ensure timely, transparent, and accurate information dissemination to stakeholders; and contingency planning that prepares organizations and destinations for swift operational responses. Furthermore, it delves into post-crisis recovery efforts aimed at restoring confidence, rebuilding infrastructure, and promoting sustainable development to foster long-term resilience. Through a thorough literature review complemented by an analysis of diverse case studies—from the global COVID-19 pandemic and devastating natural disasters to political upheavals—this work identifies best practices and common challenges in the implementation of crisis management within the tourism context. It underscores the importance of coordinated collaboration among public authorities, private sector actors, and local communities to enhance adaptive capacity and responsiveness. The article concludes with practical recommendations for policymakers, tourism managers, and emergency planners to improve crisis preparedness and resilience. These include adopting innovative technologies, strengthening stakeholder partnerships, and integrating sustainability principles into recovery frameworks. Ultimately, this study aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of tourism crisis management and support the development of robust, flexible strategies that can safeguard the industry against future disruptions.
