Unveiling the Unseen Impact: COVID-19\u27s Toll on Mental Health Among Undergraduate Students in the United States
Get PDFThe COVID-19 pandemic has had a multifaceted impact on the mental health of college students in the United States. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between having a loved one affected by COVID-19 and depression severity among college students. This was a secondary data analysis of the Pioneer Study Health and Wellbeing Survey. Data included d 258 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the College of Health Professions at Sacred Heart University. Descriptive and inferential analyses were conducted. The results of the Chi-square analysis revealed a marginally significant relationship between having a loved one affected by COVID-19 and experiencing greater severity of depression. These findings suggest a potential surge in mental health challenges among college students during this period. Future research is warranted to evaluate the necessity for mental health counseling, wellness programs, and campus resources aimed at helping students in coping with stressors related to COVID-19

If the effects from PTSD were caused through traumatic events and can be cured through interactive therapies and treatments that involve mental and physical strengthening even without the help of pharmaceutical drugs, other physical ailments can be influenced by these treatments as well
The Impact of Velocity Based Training on Lower Body Muscular Power in Division 1 Men\u27s Lacrosse Players
Get PDFThe purpose of this study was to compare the results of a maximal jump assessment across a ten-week period of lower extremity power-focused resistance training. The aim of the study was to evaluate an undulating velocity-based training (VBT) program for the barbell back squat compound movement and how it would affect maximal counter-movement jump (CMJ) height. VBT equipment was used to track variables such as mean velocity, mean power, and peak power for the barbell back squat movement for one set per week of the program. The main findings inferred that the results of the VBT program had a positive affect on the lower extremity power production capabilities in the form of increased jump height measurements. Results displayed that the undulating program was also viewed as suitable for athletes training in-season
