This can be seen throughout the writing process, with much of the creative writing typewritten, frequent copy-and-pasting of sections, and small adjustments. The reflection aspect is handwritten, a representation of the analytical process that comes before a fully developed paper is formed. Writing is messy. Implementing Continuous Glucose Monitoring: A Quality Improvement Project
Get PDFSignificance and Background: Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices are beneficial for assessing blood glucose measurements throughout the day by simply waving a smartphone over the sensor that’s attached to the back of a patient’s arm. Patients with T2DM who check blood glucose measurements via finger-sticks, have to undergo numerous daily finger-sticks. Over time, this action can grow very cumbersome while CGM offers real-time blood glucose measurements without having to pierce the skin repeatedly. CGM use in patients with T2DM may help to improve overall blood glucose measurements.
Purpose: To trial CGM in patients with T2DM and monitor blood glucose measurements over a two-week period and determine if its use can improve blood glucose control.
Methods: The project implementation and evaluation were guided by the PDSA framework. Plan- Initiate CGM trial in patients with T2DM who are interested in closer monitoring of blood glucose measurements and return for a two-week follow-up. Do- CGM trial was presented to 48 patients with T2DM and 23 patients agreed to use it. Each patient returned for their two-week follow-up appointment. Study- Data on pre and post blood glucose measurements was collected. Act- Present to stakeholders and plan for next PSDA cycle.
Outcome: Over a 12-week period, there were 23 patients with T2DM who agreed to trial CGM out of 48 patients who were seen by the project mentor (48%). The average blood glucose pre CGM trial was 196 mg/dL and the average blood glucose measurement post CGM trial was 134 mg/dL. Thirty percent of patients who trialed CGM then went on to obtain a prescription to continue the use of CGM. There was an overall downtrend of blood glucose values after the use of CGM in patients with T2DM.
Discussion: Despite low attendance rate of CGM trial in a primary care clinic, there were downward trends in overall blood glucose measurements. The CGM sensor use over a two-week period in patients with T2DM had a positive impact on overall blood glucose control

Get PDFI lived a great childhood, and I mean really great. I had a seemingly stable home life and the world was full of colors and endless possibilities. Then suddenly, on my twentieth birthday, I found myself locked in a psych ward not wanting to be alive. Imagine growing up in a world full of colors. Everything is bright and happy and you live in a house full of love, safety, and security. Then, once you hit early adulthood, the world goes gray.
Sometimes, you cannot always describe why you feel a certain way or why things are the way that they are. However, for the purpose of this essay, I am going to be researching Developmental Trauma in particular.
Developmental trauma stems from invisible childhood experiences which includes but is not limited to mental, emotional or physical abuse and manipulation (Global Teletherapy). Anyone can be impacted by developmental trauma even if they had a seemingly happy, healthy and loving childhood. As a child, they do not always realize that what you are experiencing is abuse and will impact you later on in life. I mean, how could you? For most people, it is all they have ever known. Developmental trauma is not often talked about and is something that is commonly swept under the rug. Why would Johnny, now hitting young adulthood, struggle with serious mental health issues when he had the “perfect” childhood? Was it actually “perfect”? In this paper, I will include research on what long lasting effects developmental trauma has on a person. I will also discuss research that involves early preventative measures that can be done in order to put an early stop to this abuse and protect our future young adults.
My research is partly motivated by experiences I have endured throughout my life, some of which I share in this essay. Although my experiences are unique to me, research shows that my experiences are widely shared health challenges that are fortunately, rectifiable with proper support and treatment. However, this cannot happen unless there is much more social awareness
Making History a Living Memory: The Power of Play and Role Immersion in Enhancing Education

This paper will examine how Reacting to the Past games alter the general disposition of a classroom, enacting a shift from quiet passivity to active and enthusiastic learning. Drawing from the work of Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky, this paper will consider the ways in which social interactions, assimilation, and accommodation compliment each other in order to enhance learning (Brame 1-2). An explanation as to why kindergarten teaches us so much – it emphasizes an experience driven by play – and how the same tactic is used by Reacting to the Past is also elucidated. Integrating external research alongside my own experience with Reacting to the Past and that of my peers and students from other universities and colleges, this paper will reveal the impact of role-immersion games on students and their applications in disciplines other than history
Implementation of a Human Trafficking Screening Tool in an Immigrant Services Organization

Human trafficking (HT) is a public health problem that advances the spread of disease and mental health issues and affects vulnerable populations including immigrants. HT screening tools are more reliable than clinical judgment in identifying HT victims, as even victims themselves are sometimes unaware of their own victimhood. To reduce the instances of victims being missed, HT screening tools have been validated to identify victims without the influence of personal bias.
Project Goals
1. Choose and implement a HT education module for staff.
2. Implement the AHTST for all new arrivals and from the months of November 2023 through January 2024.
3. Develop an action plan to implement when potential HT victims are identified.
Methods
SOAR online HT modules and Safe Horizon live training were selected to educate administering staff. The Adult Human Trafficking Screening Tool (AHTST) was selected and was readily available in both English and Spanish. The AHTST was incorporated into the organization’s electronic screening software to administer to all ‘new arrivals’ clients. Safety plans were created by social work in case of identifying an HT victim. The number of clients seen, number of clients given the screening, number of clients who refused it, and number of HT victims identified were reported by the manager of clinical social work (MCSW) to the DNP student biweekly via email over a 12-week period.
Results
Of the 90 new arrival clients, 61 individuals (68%) were screened by the AHTST. Of these individuals, 27 (44%) screened positive for HT. Upon further evaluation, no individuals reported being actively trafficked. The individuals who screened positive were found to be victims of domestic violence or have had a history of HT. These individuals were referred to the appropriate resources and in some instances were eligible to apply for asylum status in the United States. Individuals who were not screened either refused screening or were in a situation deemed emergent by social workers and did not warrant a comprehensive screening process at the time.
Conclusion
The AHTST was an effective way for social workers to have conversations about HT and trauma with clients during their limited time together. Though no current HT victims were identified, the screening tool was effective in identifying potential victims. 44% of individuals screened reported a history of HT outside of the U.S. or reported being victims of domestic violence during the screening process. The participating organization opted to continue uninterrupted use of the screening tool following the project implementation. Useful changes that could be made to the process would include the implementation of domestic violence specific education and an improved follow-up process for individuals who were missed during their initial visit due to an emergent situation

Whilst green firms’ performance has been formally studied in terms of returns and pricing (Bolton and Kacperczyk, 2022; Pástor et al., 2022), far less is known about their volatility. We analyze the volatility of green and brown firms from 2012 to 2021, through the multiple lens of GARCH, machine learning, and historical volatility. The unconditional volatilities of brown and green firms are similar. The forecasting of volatility, however, differs sharply between green and brown firms: it is much harder to forecast green firms’ volatility
Optimizing Partnership Impact: Prioritizing High-Quality Social-Emotional Learning In A Sports Enrichment Out-Of-School Time Program
Get PDFResearch demonstrates that out-of school time (OST) programs featuring physical activity positively impact students\u27 social-emotional learning (SEL) competencies, including self-regulation and collaboration skills. However, financial barriers prevent low-income students access to OST and sports opportunities. Grant-funded OST partnerships seeking to improve student well-being, emotional safety, and connection need ways to measure their value. A systems view indicates that OSTs play an interactive role within a school\u27s complex system. Guided by the Improvement Science Framework, this Dissertation-in-Practice aimed to strengthen the SEL quality of 2-4-1 TOP Self Sports, a physical literacy-informed sports enrichment OST program serving primarily elementary school students. Using an action research methodology and a mixed-methods sequential explanatory design, the study used the Forum for Youth Investment\u27s SEL PQA, a research-validated program evaluation tool measuring the quality of OST\u27s SEL practices and opportunities. The researcher collaborated with the OST, 2- 4-1 CARE, to design and implement a job-embedded curriculum-based SEL intervention at two urban-based magnet schools. The researcher analyzed pre- and post-intervention scores and transcripts from semi-structured focus groups with 2-4-1 instructors to determine the extent of the intervention\u27s impact. Post-intervention data indicate high-quality SEL in 2-4-1 TOP Self improvement in three of the four domains and two of the three focus areas. 2-4-1 instructors indicated the SEL intervention increased their intentionality to promote self-awareness and selfregulation skills. They observed student SEL growth during and beyond the sports enrichment time, suggesting the potential for 2-4-1 TOP Self to improve school climat
The Impact of Renewable Energy Adoption on State-Level Housing Market Prices
Get PDFRenewable energy continues to gain popularity amongst businesses and residents due to the growing concerns on climate change, government regulations and the overall need for a more sustainable energy system. Renewable energy has surged in popularity due to declining costs, and the growing awareness of the need for renewable energy to combat ongoing climate issues. The transition to renewable energy sources such as solar and geothermal power is expected to have a significant impact on various aspects of the economy including the housing market. This research aims to explore the relationship between renewable energy adoption and housing prices in the United States using state-level data. This research utilizes state level data on political party, temperature, unemployment rate, disposable income, labor force, population, state-level renewable energy tax credits, etc. The methodology includes panel data models, regression analysis and instrumental variable (IV) analysis. Using fixed effects (FE) panel estimation, the research findings indicate a positive correlation between housing prices and renewable solar. However, there is a negative correlation between housing prices and renewable geothermal energy. The instrumental variable estimation suggests a positive casual effect for log of housing price for renewable solar energy and a negative casual effect for renewable geothermal energy, when instrumented by state-level solar tax credits. The exploration of the inverse relationship between housing prices and renewable geothermal energy, illuminated through instrumental variable estimation, highlights the pivotal role of policy incentives, such as state-level renewable energy tax credit, in shaping the adoption and impact of distinct renewable energy sources within the housing market

Get PDFThis research will examine how the Jump Diffusion Model 1 (JDM) accurately outperforms Geometric Brownian Motion2 (GBM) when forecasting the Japanese Yen carry trade daily returns for the BRICs\u27 and three bellwether currency pairs GBP/JPY, EUR/JPY, and PLN/JPY from January 2, 2012, to September 30, 2023. An added innovation within this research is the inclusion of the interest rate return in arriving at the daily cumulative carry trade returns. This is a distinctive and unique feature that offers a different perspective, since many journal articles do not discuss or address the interest earned (long position) component of the FX Carry trade. The focus of this paper will be on the uncovered interest rate parity. Board Gender Diversity and Its Impact on Financial Performance and Risk-Taking: A Study of Listed North American Companies
Get PDFIn today\u27s globalized world, gender diversity is increasingly recognized as vital for companies, yet women remain underrepresented in leadership positions. The lack of representation of women in leadership roles and their possible impact on business performance have led to a greater awareness of gender diversity on corporate boards in recent years. However, men dominate in some fields and the representation of women in decision-making levels is very low and it is unclear whether gender diversity brings any benefits to the company in terms of financial performance and risktaking. Therefore, the study examines the impact of gender diversity on financial performance and risk-taking among 1,874 North American listed firms, panel data regression is utilized using the Pooled OLS model. The paper also introduces two macro-economic variables, namely; GDP Per Capita Growth and Inflation Rate as control variables in addition to Firm Size and Asset Turnover. Our findings reveal that gender diversity on corporate boards has a positive and significant effect on Return on Assets (ROA). However, the impact on Tobin’s Q, representing corporate value (market value of a company divided by its assets\u27 replacement cost.), is positive but statistically insignificant. Moreover, gender diversity has a negative and insignificant influence on the risktaking behavior of the listed North American firms. This research contributes to the ongoing dialogue on gender diversity’s impact on corporate performance and risk-taking. As companies navigate an evolving landscape, understanding the dynamics of gender representation remains critical for sustainable growth and resilience. Meanwhile, based on the findings of the study, practical implications are also provided in the present study
