Effectiveness of health technology electronic prescribing: A protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis Study
INTRODUCTION: There is increasing evidence that electronic prescribing (ePrescribing) can improve the quality and safety of healthcare services. However, it has also become clear that this implementation is not straightforward and may create unintended or undesired consequences once in use. In this context, the systematic review can provide us with a general overview of the results of the studies and can help us find the truth. This review will aim to identify, appraise and synthesise clinical trial studies on ePrescribing in hospital settings.METHODS AND ANALYSIS: Data sources will include the following databases: pubmed, scopus and cochrane library. In addition, other sources will be searched for ongoing studies (ClinicalTrials.gov) and grey literature. Studies will be independently screened for eligibility by 2 reviewers and data extraction is done by 2 people. Articles are evaluated on the basis of the quality criteria of JADAD. The data is analyzed by the STATA software.DISSEMINATION: The results of the study will be published in a peer-reviewed journal and presented at relevant conferences. Policy makers and healthcare decision-makers can use these results
Personal Electronic Health Record for Patients with Diabetes; Health Technology Assessment Protocol
Introduction: In recent decades, diabetes has contributed significantly to the burden of disease in developed and developing countries, due to the considerable prevalence and involvement of various age groups in the communities.Today, a variety of ways to manage and control the disease are used, one of which is the use of personal electronic health records. Recently there has been a remarkable upsurge in activity surrounding the adoption of personal electronic health records systems for patients and consumers. personal electronic health records systems are more than just static repositories for patient data; they combine data, knowledge, and software tools, which help patients to become active participants in their own care.The present study was conducted with the goal of Health Technology Assessment the impact of personal electronic health records in Patients with Diabetes.Methods: Writing is based on PRISMA standards. This was a Health Technology Assessment study. It aimed to evaluate the technology of personal electronic health record . The scoping review was conducted to evaluate 8 dimensions (Health Problem and Current Use of the Technology, Description and technical characteristics of technology, Safety, Costs and economic evaluation, Ethical analysis, Organisational aspects, Patients and Social aspects, Legal aspects) of Personal electronic health record . This study was based on answering questions which were developed based on Health Diagnostics Technology Assessment Documents Framework and HTA Core Model 3.0 . A systematic review was conducted to evaluate the Clinical Effectiveness dimension of personal electronic health record in controlling diabetes. In order to gather evidences, Ovid databases, Cochrane Library, PubMed, CRD, Trip database and EMBASE, and Randomized Controlled Trial Registries, such as the Clinical Trial and Trial Registry, were searched using specific keywords and strategies. .Articles are evaluated on the basis of the quality criteria of JADAD.The data is analyzed by the STATA software.Dissemination:The results of the study will be published in a peer-reviewed journal and presented at relevant conferences.Policy makers and healthcare decision-makers can use these results
Prevalence, causes, and complications of acute kidney transplant rejection: survey in a single center
Backgrounds: Kidney transplantation has become a preferred surgical approach for several renal disorders. To acquire required information in basis of acute transplant rejection and its complications, it is important to determine rejection prevalence and its potential causes.Methods: In present retrospective study, during a 37-year survey, 2250 patients received conventional kidney transplantation. The patients who had suffered graft loss, death, and nephrectomy of transplanted kidney during the first month after transplantation enrolled the study and all required data recorded in designed questionnaire. Results: Of 2557 patients underwent kidney transplantation, 86 (3.36%) patients were suffered acute graft loss during the first month after transplantation, that 43 (50%) were males and 43 (50%) were females. Mean age of the patients with acute graft loss was 40.09±14.09. The most common underlying cause for acute graft loss in our study were as follows: acute rejection of transplanted kidney (34.9%), renal vein thrombosis (17.5%), heart infarction (13.9%), idiopathic (6.9%). Of 86 patients, thirty-three patients underwent nephrectomy subsequent to rejection, however, fifty-three patients well responded to medical treatment. In our study the amount of acute nephrectomy during the first month after transplantation was 38.4% (33 patients) which constituted 1.2% of the total graft losses.Conclusion: Renal vein thrombosis is the most common underlying reason for graft loss in kidney transplantation patients, and 1st week of the transplantation is the most probable postoperative time for graft rejection
Value Engineering in Health Care: Part I. Basics and Methods
Nowadays, value engineering (VE) has been regarded as a strategic means to reduce the organizational costs in terms of purchases and value chain. Health care costs are increasingly growing, and the quality and effectiveness of healthcare services become more and more important. Healthcare providers such as hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and medical equipment manufacturers can benefit from value engineering as a technique to present the highest quality while maintaining the patient volumes and affording the costs of success assurance.
The present article is the output of a project about applying value engineering in health care. Since VE has been less studied in services and particularly in health care, the authors decided to present their work in two parts. The first section of this paper addresses the introduction, application and implication of value engineering in healthcare and the second chapter, in the form of a scoping review, presents savings made by value engineering in various healthcare departments.

The patient is a 34-year-old patient with abdominal pain, gross hematuria with anxiety and worries about it from 5 months ago. The physician requested renal computed tomography (CT) without and then with contrast for rule out of renal stone. However, he found multiple lesions in kidneys. The laboratory tests were normal except hematuria. He was a candidate for surgery. The pathologist reported clear red cell renal cell carcinoma. He was referred to a radiologist for staging. Von Hippel – Lindau (VHL) disease is an inherited and rare disease that is characterized by a variety of benign and malignant lesions (1). It preval ence is 1 in 31,000 -53,000 (2,3). Previous studies shown 59 – 63% of patients have renal cysts and 24 - 45 % renal cell carcinoma (4), and in 75 % of cases ,the lesions are bilateral (4, 5). Involvement of pancreas includes simple cysts (50 – 91%), serous m icrocystic adenomas (12%) and adenocarcinoma (7%) (2, 4)
Epidemiological Survey of Multiple Sclerosis in East-Azerbaijan Province, Iran, 2014
Abstract:Introduction and background: MS as a chronic CNS disease is very prevalent in all around the world. Its epidemiology is different region by region and most of geographical and environmental factors may play a role in its incidence. To analyze demographic characteristics of the disease we designed this study.Methods and Materials: This Survey has been conducted in East-Azerbaijan province, North-West of Iran. Prevalence of the disease has been measured using data of Committee for diagnosis and Treatment of Multiple Sclerosis in 2014. Age, gender and type of the disease also been investigated in this research. Independent T Test, Chi square, Pearson and Fisher exact test used to analyze data.Results: We had 2774 MS patients in 2014. 726 were male (26%) and 2003 were female (73%). Mean age of males was 38±9 and mean age of females was 37.09±9. Mean age in male patients was more than in females significantly (P=0.001). We measured 73.26 prevalence per 100000 populations in East-Azerbaijan.Conclusion: Prevalence of the disease showed significant increase in 5 years compared to previous studies. Because of disease's disabilatating entity more interventional investigations are recommended to perform in preventing disease incidence or improving quality of life of sufferers and increasing their life expectancy.
Evaluation and Correlation of the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment and Rapid Office Strain Assessment Methods for Predicting the Risk of Musculoskeletal Disorders
Background: During the last two decades, the scale of computer use has been surprisingly increased. In 2000, 80% of workers stated that they use computer in their daily activities. The tendency to use computer is accompanied with healthy risk and the incidence of musculoskeletal disorders between 10 to 60 percent of computer users. Aims to study, risk assessment by RULA and ROSA methods, surveying the correlation of these methods, and evaluating the prediction ability of these methods in the incidence of musculoskeletal disorders among office workers.Methods: This analytic-descriptive study performed at Behbahan University of Medical Sciences and Imam Khomeini port office in 2016. The sample consists of 236 office workers through simple random sampling method. Body map questionnaire as well as RULA and ROSA checklists were used for data collection. Data analysis was carried out by SPSS software, version 22, and statistical tests including one way ANOVA, Pearson, and Chi-square.Results: The results demonstrated that most of the musculoskeletal disorders are related to trunk, neck and back regions by 40.4%, 39.7%, and 35.4% respectively. The furthest risk distribution in ROSA method is at warning level (67.2%) and at high and very high levels in RULA method (62%). Pearson Test showed a positive significant correlation between these methods (P<0.05). Chi-square Test revealed a significant correlation between musculoskeletal disorders in upper and lower limb with RULA method (P<0.05), but there was no significant relationship with ROSA method (p>0.05). One way ANOVA statistical test divulged a significant relationship between risk of musculoskeletal disorders and gender (P<0.05), but did not find a significant relationship with job experience and education (p>0.05).Conclusion: Due of the weak correlation between RULA and ROSA, it can't be surely stated that one may be used as an alternative to the other; however, RULA is better than ROSA to predict the risk of musculoskeletal disorders

The Prevalence of Iron Deficiency Anemia among High School Students in Iran: A Systematic Review
Introduction: Iron is one of the most important elements forming the body and an essential metal for many biological processes in mammals. According to studies, anemia can cause numerous side effects in the body. Because of the effectiveness of iron in myelinated nerves, this illness can cause hearing loss and vision problems as well, and in students, it can even cause academic failure and learning problems and intensify behavioral disorders. Therefore, to collect the statistics of the prevalence of the disorder in order to inform parents, the present study was conducted to assess the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia in high school students in Iran using meta-analysis method.Method: This study was continued in review form using the key words anemia, iron deficiency anemia, and anemia prevalence with a review of the articles in Pubmed, Iranmedex databases and Scientific Information Database of SID in related topics with 89 articles. Time domain for searching articles and related books and was mainly from 1991 onwards.Results: Studies on the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia in high school students show different results. Recent statistics based on published articles at home and abroad show the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia equal to 10.6%, (with a 95% confidence interval: 9.7 to 11.5) until 2014.Conclusion: The disease can cause hearing and vision disorders in adolescents. Moreover, it can cause academic failure and learning problems and intensify behavioral disorders in students. Given that children's health is an indicator of health planning of family for them, attention to the factors preventing iron deficiency anemia and its treatment is essential for students. Following this study, it is suggested that by correcting diet as the first step of prevention of catching this diseases, we take a step towards preventing it
Effect of Sumac (Rhus coriaria) Extract on Blood Lipid Profile in White Wistar Rat
Background: Hyperlipidemia is one of the chronic diseases whose current solutions are the proper diet and chemical drugs. Evaluation of accessible medicinal plant recourses has an important role to prevent and treat the hyperlipidemia. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of sumac (Rhus coriaria) extract on blood lipid profile in white Wistar rat.Methods: This laboratory animal experiment was conducted on 21 white Wistar rats during four weeks. The research units divided into three groups separately were fed by normal diet, fatty diet without sumac extract and fatty diet with sumac extract. The samples were excluded after appearing sick-like behaviors. Finally, data were analyzed in SPSS ver. 16 software using ANOVA and LSD tests.Results: The mean weight of rats was 310±26 gram. The mean blood cholesterol had significant difference in fatty diet with sumac group in compared with control group from the second week to the end of study (P<0.001), also the mean triglyceride was increased significantly during the study in fatty diet with sumac extract group (P=0.47). The mean HDL and LDL had no significant change during the study (P>0.05).Conclusion: According to the findings of this study, the use of sumac with fatty diet can be effective to reduce blood cholesterol in prevention and treatment of hyperlipidemia
