VALIDITY OF CONTEXTUAL TEACHING AND LEARNING (CTL) COMIC LEARNING MEDIA
The lack of student interest in learning mathematics is caused by the teaching materials used not being able to make students active so that student scores have not reached the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM). School teaching materials contain many questions with almost the same level of difficulty and solution methods so that students get a little bored of doing them. This research aims to develop mathematics learning media in the form of comics with Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) nuances to improve the mathematics learning outcomes of class VII students at SMP N 20 Jambi City. In this development it is expected to obtain valid mathematics learning media results. This type of research is development research that produces a product in the form of learning comics. The development of this comic uses the ADDIE model which consists of 5 stages, namely the Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation stages. The research subjects were class VII students of SMP N 20 Jambi City. Learning device validation was carried out by mathematics education experts and Indonesian language education experts. The overall validation results for comic media are very valid with a success rate of 85.52%. With this it can be concluded that the development of comic media with Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) nuances can be used as teaching material
TPACK and Learning Strategies in Genetics: A Pedagogical Study
Genetics is a part of biological science that contains topics such as genetic structure, protein synthesis, cell division, and inheritance of traits. Genetics is one of the most commonly found misconceptions and difficulties in learning this material due to its complex, abstract and rapid development. To overcome these problems, it is necessary to analyse TPACK and analyse various learning strategies used in teaching genetics so that it can be taken into consideration for teachers in teaching genetics in the classroom. This research uses descriptive qualitative method by collecting relevant research in the form of national and international articles available on various websites. From the results of the research, it was found that teachers have applied a variety of models, methods, and media in learning genetics. The success in this learning process certainly depends on the teacher\u27s TPACK analysis skills so that the teacher not only pays attention to the content but also can adjust it to the needs of students
Ethnomathematics Study: Geometrical Concept in Kudus Market Snacks
Most students consider mathematics difficult, because it is abstract. To respond to this, teachers can use ethnomathematics in learning mathematics so that mathematics is easy to understand. One of the ethnomathematics objects that can be used is market snacks. Market snacks are traditional foods that are often sold in crowded places such as markets. This study aims to analyze the geometrical concepts that exist in various forms of market snacks in Kudus. This research uses a type of qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. Data collection used semi-structural interviews with 3 market snack sellers, literature studies, and documentation. The results of the study found that there are geometric concepts in market snacks. Triangular, rectangular, and circular shapes are found, while for spatial shapes, rectangular pyramids, blocks, spheres, triangular prisms, and tubes are found. The research results can be used as an alternative source of learning mathematics, especially in geometry material
The Influence of Bullying Experiences on Mathematics Curiosity in Prospective Mathematics Teachers
In the current era, bullying is increasingly happening, especially to students. Bullying is an act of hurting other people that can cause mental and psychological trauma. In this case, students need to minimize bullying in order to instill curiosity when learning mathematics. Mathematical curiosity in mathematics learning is a positive attitude that influences the success of achieving mathematics learning goals. This research aims to determine the effect of bullying experiences on students\u27 mathematical curiosity. This research includes correlational research, collecting data through questionnaires to measure variables of bullying experiences and mathematics curiosity. The research sample was taken using cluster random sampling techniques and obtained two classes of students majoring in mathematics totaling 49students. Data analysis in this study used a simple Linear Regression Test. The results of the research show that there is a negative and significant relationship between bullying experiences and mathematical curiosity in prospective mathematics teachers. Curiosity towards mathematics is one of the factors that prevents prospective mathematics teachers from experiencing bullying
Identification of Dominant Factors Affecting Study Time and Waiting Time of Mathematics Undergraduate Using the Least Absolute Shrinkage And Selection Operator (LASSO)
Higher education is a level of education that is able to produce and prepare graduates so that college graduates are able to compete and are ready to face the world of work. The aim of this research is to determine the dominant factors that influence the study period and waiting time for undergraduates in Department of Mathmatics FST UIN Sumatera Utara Medan until they get their first job in less than 9 months. The Least Absolute Shrinkage And Selection Operator (LASSO) method was used in this research, where this method is expected to be able to provide high accuracy results in terms of determining the most dominant factors. From the results of calculations using the LASSO method, the three most dominant factors that greatly influence the study period and waiting time for undergraduates are working status (X3), organizational participation (X5), grade point average (X2), final assignment position (X2). By producing this most dominant factor, it is hoped that mathematics study programs will care more about their students by making major and minor improvements to future accreditatio
Phyllanthus acidus (L.) Skeels (Pemanfaatan dan Bioaktivitasnya
Phyllanthus acidus (Phyllataceae) is an underutilized fruits tree (UFT) which has the potential to be developed both as food and traditional medicine. This study aims to explain botany, benefits and bioactivity of P. acidus. The research method is using online library research on Google Scholar using the keywords P. acidus, bioactivity and uses of P. acidus. Local Indonesian people have long been cultivating P. acidus in their yards which are used as food, vegetables and traditional medicine, but on the other hand they contain toxic compounds known as Dichapetalins. The fruits of P. acidus has sour taste, not broken, juicy, 1 cm in diameter, 6-8 lobes, angular, enlarged fruit, hard endocarp. The P. acidus fruit is traditionally used to treat various diseases such as inflammation, rheumatism, bronchitis, asthma, respiratory disorders, liver disease, gastric disorders and diabetes. The use of P. acidus as a traditional medicine is related to its bioactivity as an antioxidant, anti-diabetes mellitus, anti-microbial, hepatoprotective, analgesic, anti-cancer, and diuretic. The toxic dichapetalins cause adverse health effects in higher doses so their use needs to be strictly controlled.Phyllanthus acidus (Phyllataceae) is an underutilized fruits tree (UFT) which has the potential to be developed both as food and traditional medicine.
