Building the Customer Relationship by Experience Provisions on the Web : An Analysis of the Enablers in "Acce-town.com"
Though many companies have established e-shops on the Web recently, it is very difficult for them to make a profit. Under these circumstances, "Acce-town.com" that is e-shop run by DAI corporation has made good progress. In this study, I focus and analyze "customer relationship", "experience provision", "interactive communication" and "click and mortar" etc. as the enablers in "Acce-town.com".departmental bulletin pape
Utilization of the Internet in the Catalog Retailers: Case Study of "NISSEN"
Masses of companies attend to the Internet to reduce the cost and expand sales. Particularly the Catalog Retailers aggressively utilize the Internet. In this study, I survey the actual condition of mail-order business in Japan. Then I consider the utilization of the Internet in the catalog retailers through the case study of "NISSEN" that is the major catalog retailer in Japan.departmental bulletin pape

A Proposal for Fingertip Detecting Method Using the Circular Hough Transform
The research presented in this paper aims at recognizing human hand movement with the computer. We treat the motion that are carried out by two fingers, i. e. index finger and thumb. We have been proposing a model which can approximate the coordinates of the various joints of the hand through simply finding the location of the fingertips and the direction they are pointing to. The key of this method is how the fingertips are detected robustly. Our fingertip's shape was containing a circular arc. The Circular Hough transform is a very robust method to detect an arc shape from an edge-enhanced picture. This paper describes the methods to detect the coordinates of two fingers by using the circular Hough transform. More using this information, we describe how to detect the coordinates of the fingertips and how to detect the angle of fingertips.departmental bulletin pape
A Structural Outline for Expanding the B2C Market in Japan
Though the rate of electric commerce of B2B was 5%, B2C was only 0.55% in Japan as of the end of Dec, 2001. It is true that promoting the IT infrastructure and creating a good IT educational system are necessary conditions for expanding the B2C market, but I don't think solving these problems directly spurs an increase in B2C. In this study, I concretize the obstructive factors in expanding the B2C market and consider the convenience and fun of shopping as important factors for expanding the B2C market.departmental bulletin pape
Light and Shade in the History of Scanning Tunneling Microscopy--A Study on Factors Contributing to Success in Advanced Scientific Research--
This paper looks at the factors contributing to success in advanced scientific research with reference to the historic development of the scanning tunneling microscope (STM) with atomic resolution. Investigations are based on papers and lectures by G. Binnig and H. Rohrer, the Nobel winners who invented STM, and by R. D. Young, the precursor who devised "Topografiner," a type of scanning field-emission microscope similar to STM, but missed the epoch-making invention which he had almost attained. Factors are found to be "unprejudiced free thinking," "exploration into new concepts," "clear target," "willingness to try the unknown" and "unyielding spirit," "magnanimity enough to grant elbowroom for researchers to dream, to explore, and to make and correct mistakes," "good research manager(s)" and "superior technical support."departmental bulletin pape
A Study on Temperature Measurement Errors due to Inhomogeneity of Thermocouple Elements--Inhomogeneity of Base Metal Thermocouple--
The short range ordering (SRO) of the Type K thermocouple is known by various researcher's studies, but inhomogeneity of other base metal thermocouples has not been studied. We measured the variation of Seebeck coefficient and the resistance of five base metal thermocouples. The five base metal thermocouples were heat-treated at 350℃ 840Hr and 400℃ 452Hr. Seebeck coefficients of all thermocouples were changed from +1.3% to -1.1%. Variations of Seebeck coefficient and variations of the resistance of thermoelement are related very closely except for Type N thermocouple.departmental bulletin pape
