Seismic Responses of Circular Steel Tube Column Structures Considering Local Buckling
This paper presents the results of seismic response analysis of circular steel tube column structures considering local buckling by using a new analytical model reported in reference 10) . These results are compared with the results of response analysis using the generalized plastic hinge method, and show the necessity of considering local buckling in order to predict the gradually deteriorating behavior under seismic loading.departmental bulletin pape

Architectural Locality of Community Centers--A comparison study of neighborhood community centers in central areas and suburbs
Investigations on neighborhood community centers in the central area or the suburbs of Nagasaki-city revealed the following points.
1. In ownership style, activity situation, clearance scale and spatial structure, a geographical area difference was found in the architecture of neighborhood community centers.
2. The area of the community center in old residential districts increases in proportion to the number of households in that neighborhood community, particularly in neighborhoods doing a traditional entertainment. An area of community centers in new residential areas is fixed uniformly.
3. As for the community center use, everyday use is lower in the central area than in the suburbs, but it is concentrated in festival periods. Community centers in the central area are used mainly as storage space for festival tools, while community centers in the suburbs are constituted around a meeting room.departmental bulletin pape
A Fundamental Study on the Semi-outdoor Space of a House
This study was conducted on the basis of a dwelling house fact-finding survey in Nagasaki with special attention to the things which constitute semi-outdoor space of a house. The results are reported here as follows:
1) As to the things which constitute semi-outdoor space and assumed to be important, there were the veranda, window handrail, and porch by the dwelling house outside the circumference. There were also a garden tree, a flower bed, drying clothes in the garden site, and there were blocks, posts, and fencing on the border line of lot.
2) In the spatial structure of the dwelling house outside circumference, the veranda increased it in a southern aspect, and there was much window handrail to rooms to the north. There were many garden plants /bonsai near a room to the north. In this way, semi-outdoor space received influence by being open to the south or north greatly.
3) The difference between a house of modern times with veranda and a traditional house with window handrail is reflected in the semi-outdoor space and constitutes the estatescape.departmental bulletin pape
Diversification Strategy of Small Businesses: Case Study of "Mameta"
Diversification is an effective strategy to survive in a changing situation while making use of the existing corporate resources. But it is very hard to implement the diversification strategy for small businesses that do not have enough resources. Also it is true that there are many cases in which companies can not achieve profits by implementing diversification. In this study, I consider the diversification strategy of small businesses based on the analysis of a case study of "Mameta".departmental bulletin pape

Theory of the Scissors Mode in a Trapped Bose-Einstein Condensate at Finite Temperatures
We present the theory of the scissors mode of a trapped Bose-Einstein condensate which includes the dynamics of thermal quasiparticles. A general expression of the mode frequency and the damping rate is obtained for trapped Bose gases at finite temperatures.departmental bulletin pape
