Morphological Identification and Evaluation of Phytochemical Content and Antioxidant Activity of Gembili Tuber (Dioscorea esculenta L.) in Malaysia
Gembili tuber (Dioscorea esculenta L.) is a tuberous plant known for its high nutritional value and richness in bioactive compounds. These bioactive compounds, including diosgenin, β-sitosterol, and saponins, offer various health benefits, such as antimicrobial, anticancer, and antioxidant properties, crucial in preventing degenerative diseases. This study aims to investigate the differences in phytochemical and antioxidant content of Gembili tubers from different locations. The research was conducted at the Phytochemical Laboratory, MARDI, in Selangor, Malaysia, where the total phenolic content (TPC) was analyzed using the Folin-Ciocalteu method, and the antioxidant capacity was assessed through the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) assay using a UV spectrophotometer (Eon Biotek) at 517 nm. The results indicated that the total phenolic content and antioxidant values of yam bean tubers from the Serdang location in Selangor were higher than those from the Port Dickson location in Negeri Sembilan, measuring 1.6940 mg GAE/100g and 0.366 mg/ml in the DPPH test, respectively. Consequently, yam tubers cultivated in Serdang, Selangor, demonstrate greater potential as a source of natural antioxidants beneficial for health than those grown in Port Dickson
The Effect of Organic PGR Application from Mung Bean Sprouts Extract on the Growth of Stem Cuttings of Honey Water Apple Plants (Syzygium aqueum) in Danau Balai Village
Honey water guava (Syzygium aqueum) is one of the newest high-quality commodities and is increasingly being cultivated by farmers in various regions. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of applying organic plant growth regulators (PGRs) derived from sprout extracts at different doses on the growth of water apple (Syzygium aqueum) plants. A completely randomized design (CRD) with a single treatment factor was employed. The results demonstrated that the 60 mL treatment of ZPT Organic Benefits Extract was the most effective in promoting plant growth, achieving an average height of 10.8 cm and five shoots at 4 weeks after planting (WAP), compared to the control treatment, which reached only 8 cm in height and two shoots. These findings indicate that the 60 mL dose of organic PGR extract from sprouts significantly enhanced growth and stimulated shoot development relative to the other treatments
The Effect of Kasgot Fertilizer Application on the Chemical Properties of Soil Planted with Cucumbers (Cucumis sativus L.)
Sustainable agriculture requires the prudent management of natural resources, including the judicious use of fertilizers and other inputs. One of the primary challenges faced by farmers is the decline in soil fertility resulting from the prolonged use of chemical fertilizers. This study aims to evaluate the effect of Kasgot fertilizer on soil chemical properties, specifically soil pH, organic carbon content, total nitrogen (N), available phosphorus (P), and available potassium (K), in cucumber cultivation. Soil sampling was conducted using a proportional sampling method, where sample points were selected based on soil availability and were representative of the cucumber cultivation area. The results indicated that, based on the analysis of phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) nutrient content, the treatment with 5 grams per planting hole was most effective in increasing phosphorus availability to 0.2907%, classified as high. Meanwhile, the treatments with 10 grams and 20 grams per planting hole were more effective in increasing soil potassium content to 0.0724% and 0.0708%, respectively, both of which were classified as moderate to high
Secondary Metabolite Content and Antioxidant Activity of Ethanol Extract of Tali Putri (Cuscuta australis) at Different Heights Places
Cuscuta australis (commonly known as Tali Putri) is a parasitic weed that extracts water, minerals, and nutrients from its host plants to sustain its life cycle. Among its shared hosts, Asystasia gangetica (Israel grass) is highly susceptible due to its soft stem structure, which facilitates haustorial penetration and efficient nutrient transfer. Although generally regarded as a harmful weed, C. australis has demonstrated pharmacological potential owing to its secondary metabolites and antioxidant properties, both of which are relevant in disease treatment. This study investigated the effect of altitude on the phytochemical profile, antioxidant activity, moisture content, and ash content of C. australis and its host plant. A survey method was applied across three altitudinal zones (lowland, midland, and highland) with seven replications per site. Laboratory analyses were performed at the Plant Physiology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Andalas University, and the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI) Laboratory. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) with the F-test, and significant differences (p < 0.05) were further evaluated using Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT). The results showed that C. australis grown at high altitude exhibited the highest antioxidant activity (173.35 µg/ml), moisture content (9.06%), and ash content (5.16%). Similarly, A. gangetica collected from highland sites demonstrated superior antioxidant activity (64.39 µg/ml), moisture content (8.82%), and ash content (7.07%). By contrast, altitude had no detectable effect on the phytochemical composition of either species, both of which consistently contained flavonoids, alkaloids, phenolics, terpenoids, and triterpenoids. These findings indicate that highland populations of C. australis and A. gangetica possess enhanced bioactive properties, suggesting that high-altitude habitats may provide the most suitable raw material sources for pharmaceutical applications
Optimizing Oil Palm (Elais guinensis L.) Carbon Management in Tidal Lands to Support Sustainable Plantations
Oil palm plantations in tidal areas face complex challenges in optimizing carbon management to achieve sustainable production. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of carbon stocks across various management systems of oil palm plantations in tidal zones and to develop optimization strategies for sustainable production. The research was conducted in Menten Village, Rambutan District, Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, employing a factorial Randomized Complete Block Design with factors including water management systems (conventional, semi-intensive, conservation, optimization) and plant age categories (3–5, 6–10, 11–15, 16–20, and 21–25 years). CO₂ emissions and sequestration were measured using the LI-COR LI-8100A system; biomass was assessed through allometric equations and destructive sampling methods, while soil and water parameters were analyzed using standard procedures. The results demonstrated that the optimized system incorporating smart drainage achieved the best performance, exhibiting the lowest CO₂ emissions (6.2 Mg C/ha/year), the highest carbon absorption (21.5 Mg C/ha/year), and a positive net carbon balance (+15.3 Mg C/ha/year) with an efficiency of 346.8%. This system also increased fresh fruit bunch (FFB) productivity from 18.5 tons/ha/year under conventional management to 26.4 tons/ha/year, with superior quality metrics (oil content: 27.2%, acid value: 1.4%, crude palm oil yield: 25.2%). Total carbon stock progressively increased from 23.7 Mg C/ha in young plants to 147.9 Mg C/ha in mature plants, with an optimal sequestration rate of 17.8 Mg C/ha/year. The implementation of smart drainage, combined with IoT technology and biochar application, effectively optimized edaphic conditions by increasing soil pH to 4.8, raising organic carbon content to 4.2%, reducing bulk density to 0.68 g/cm³, and controlling salinity at 1.2 dS/m. This study confirms that oil palm plantations on tidal lands can achieve sustainability through precision agriculture practices that integrate precision water management, biochar application, and real-time monitoring to optimize the balance between productivity and carbon conservation
The Seed Weight Patterns During Imbibition and Germination Morpho-physiology of Four Maize (Zea mays L.) Seed Varieties: Imbibition Pattern and Morpho-physiological of Maize (Zea mays L.) Seed Germination
Suboptimal environmental conditions cause low imbibition rate in maize plants, thus disrupting enzyme activation and food availability for the sprouts, and inhibiting the germination process. This study aims to provide a better understanding of the imbibition pattern and physiological characteristics of germination, hopefully obtaining useful information in the development of seed processing techniques and more efficient agricultural technology. The maize seeds used in this study were the seeds of four maize varieties. The imbibition pattern was obtained by weighing the seeds from 0 to 120 hours with a 6-hour time interval. The results showed that the four varieties showed a typical three-phase imbibition pattern with almost the same time. Overall, the highest seed growth and germination was found in Jantan F1 and Paramita, which have great potential for use in seed propagation, while Baruna variety showed low seed quality and needs further evaluation for improvement
ANALISIS PELATIHAN SUMBER DAYA MANUSIA PADA APARATUR SIPIL NEGARA DI KANTOR BADAN PENGELOLAAN KEUANGAN DAN ASET DAERAH KABUPATEN KUANTAN SINGINGI
Training has an important role to improve the quality of performance of competitive State Civil Apparatus to improve more qualified human resources. The purpose of this study was to determine Human Resource Training in State Civil Apparatus at the Office of the Asset and Regional Financial Management Agency of Kuantan Singingi Regency. This study is a qualitative study. The informants in this study were 6 people using purposive sampling. The formulation of the problem in this study is that HR training at the Office of the Regional Financial Management Agency has not been realized optimally. Researchers analyzed data from various sources obtained from the field using data collection methods by conducting interviews, observations, and documentation. So from the results of the analysis in the field, the author found the results of the study that Human Resource Training in State Civil Apparatus at the Office of the Asset and Regional Financial Management Agency of Kuantan Singingi Regency had been implemented well
ANALISIS KINERJA BIROKRASI APARATUR SIPIL NEGARA (ASN) DI KANTOR KOMISI PEMILIHAN UMUM KABUPATEN KUANTAN SINGINGI
This research was conducted at the General Election Commission Office of Kuantan Singingi Regency. The aim of this research is to determine the analysis of the bureaucratic performance of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) at the General Election Commission Office of Kuantan Singingi Regency. The formulation of the problem in this research is how to analyze the performance of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) bureaucracy at the General Election Commission Office of Kuantan Singingi Regency. The type of research used is qualitative research with descriptive research. The sampling technique uses the Purposive Sumpling method, which is a technique that determines the sample with certain considerations, the type of research used in this study is Qualitative Research. The research instrument for collecting data is an interview guide, using performance indicators (Performance Measurement), namely: a) Productivity, b) Service Quality, c) Responsiveness, d) Responsibility, e) Accountability. Based on observations made in the field, a conclusion was obtained regarding the performance of the State Civil Apparatus at the Kuantan Singingi Regency General Election Commission Office which was good.Optimal performance can be seen from ASN who carry out each job according to their main duties and functions in their respective fields. And also the high sense of responsibility of ASN in carrying out their duties, this can be seen from the timeliness in reporting performance results, whether reported every month, every six months or within a period of 1 yea

ANALISIS PARTISIPASI MASYARAKAT DALAM PEMBAYARAN PAJAK BUMI DAN BANGUNAN (PBB) DI DESA JAYA KOPAH KECAMATAN KUANTAN TENGAH KABUPATEN KUANTAN SINGINGI
This research was carried out in Jaya Kopah Village, Kuantan Tengah District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. The aim of this research is to find out how well the community participates in paying land and building taxes (PBB) in Jaya Kopah Village, Kuantan Tengah District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. The sampling technique for Jaya Kopah Village Apparatus elements was because the number was relatively small, namely 8 people, so the sample was determined using a saturated sampling method, that is, the entire population was sampled. For elements of society using the Random Sampling method, sampling from the population was carried out randomly without paying attention to the strata in the population, the number of samples taken using the Slovin formula was 43 people, the total number of respondents in this study was 51 respondents. Based on the results of a questionnaire distributed regarding Community Participation in Paying Land and Building Tax (PBB) in Jaya Kopah Village, Kuantan Tengah District, Kuantan Singingi Regency, which produced an average value of 3.03, meaning the results of this research are in the Fairly Good interval. This is because the 4 indicators used in this research, namely Knowledge and Skills, Community Work, Community Education, and Belief in Certain Cultures, are all quite good
