The Utilization of Sawdust and Various Decomposers as Raw Materials for Organic Fertilizer Production
Sawdust is an abundant material in rural areas of Lima Puluh Kota Regency, making its utilization an effective way to prevent it from being wasted. Sawdust also has great potential to enrich soil with essential elements needed by plants. The process of making organic fertilizer typically involves the addition of microorganisms to accelerate the decomposition of organic materials. One of the challenges in producing and developing organic fertilizer is selecting the right decomposer to ensure that the composting process does not take too long and can be quickly applied and utilized by farmers. This study aims to identify the best decomposer capable of breaking down and accelerating the composting process of sawdust waste. The study used a Completely Randomized Design with the following treatments: sawdust:chicken manure (2:1) + bioactivator, sawdust:chicken manure (2:1) + bio tanduria, sawdust:chicken manure (2:1) + m21 dan sawdust:chicken manure (2:1) + Trichoderma sp. Observation parameters: compost maturation time (days), texture, color, moisture and temperature. From all observations of sawdust compost, treatment A2 (sawdust:chicken manure (2:1) + bio tanduria) showed the best results, and the composting time was also relatively short
Analysis and Identification of Weeds in 3-Month-Old Acacia crassicarpa Stands at PT. Arara Abadi Rasau Kuning District
Acacia crassicarpa is a cultivated species in the Industrial Plantation Forest at PT. Arara Abadi, particularly in the Rasau Kuning District. One of the limiting factors for the growth of Acacia crassicarpa stands is weed infestations. At three months of age, weed infestations increased and became uniform across the Acacia crassicarpa stand area. To ensure that weed control measures yield effective and efficient results, it is essential to base these measures on information regarding the types and composition of weeds in the Acacia crassicarpa area. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze and identify the types of weeds found beneath the Acacia crassicarpa, which is three months old. This research method employs purposive sampling to select locations with dense weed populations for use as study plots. The analysis and identification of the weeds revealed nine species, including Goletrak (Borreria alata), which was the most prevalent, with 50 individuals recorded. Other species identified include Bundung (Cyperus odoratus), Wild Acacia, Ruas-ruas, Ramiding (Stenochlaena palustris), Sword Fern (Nephrolepis biserrata), Alang-alang (Imperata cylindrica), and Meniran (Phyllanthus urinaria). The range of the KR values was between 0.5% and 25.3%, while the FR values ranged from 2.4% to 14.6%. The BKR values varied from 0.3% to 18.8%, and the INV values ranged from 3.5% to 56.0%. The highest SDR value for Borreria alata was 18.7%, indicating significant dominance within the weed community. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H') was calculated at 1.96, categorizing it as a moderate level of diversity. Simpson's dominance index (D) was measured at 0.15, suggesting a stable level of weed dominance. Additionally, the Margalef species richness analysis (R1) results yielded a value of 1.51, indicating a low level of species richness among the weeds
Response of Total Number of Tillers, Plant Height, and Dry Straw Weight of Jangguik rice Genotypes (Oryza sativa) With Gamma Ray Irradiation Treatment
The limited number of tillers and the height of the plant stem result in a lighter straw weight per clump, which diminishes farmers' interest in cultivating the Jangguik rice genotype. Jangguik rice may face extinction in a few years if this trend continues. This study aimed to determine the response of the total number of tillers, plant height, and dry straw weight of Jangguik rice genotypes to gamma-ray irradiation treatment. Field research was conducted in Koto Kari Village, Kuantan Tengah District, Kuantan Senggigi Regency, located at coordinates 0 0 00-1 0 00 LS 101 0 02 – 101 0 55 BT with a temperature range of 23.0 – 33.0 °C, air humidity of 60 – 98%, and an altitude of 300 meters above sea level. Gamma irradiation services were conducted on Babarsari St. at the Deputy for Research and Innovation Infrastructure, Yogyakarta Radiation Laboratory, Depok Sleman, Yogyakarta. The research was conducted over seven months, from June to December 2024. This experiment employed a one-factor Randomized Block Design (RAK) experimental method. It consisted of three treatments, each repeated five times, resulting in 15 experimental plots. The treatments included doses of 0 Gy, 100 Gy, and 200 Gy. The study's results were statistically analyzed using an ANOVA table; if the calculated F-value exceeded the F-table value at the 5% significance level, further analysis was conducted using the Honest Significant Difference (HSD) test. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that gamma-ray irradiation treatment significantly affected plant height, which measured 110.66 cm but did not influence the total number of tillers or the dry weight of straw
Increasing Growth and Production of Pagoda Mustard (Brassica narinosa) by Giving Coconut Shell Biochar and Jakaba LOF : Mela Anggraini*, Hilwa Walida, Kamsia Dorliana Sitanggang, Badrul Ainy Dalimunthe
Pagoda mustard greens (Brassica narinosa) are mustard greens characterized by their unique leaf shape, which resembles a pagoda with a crunchy texture and a slightly sweet flavor. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of combining coconut shell biochar and Jakaba in enhancing soil fertility, nutrient availability, and the growth and yield of pagoda mustard greens. This study used a factorial randomized block design (RBD). The first factor is the addition of Biochar planting media with 4 levels, namely: 0 g/polybag (Control), 100 g/polybag, 250 g/polybag, 500 g/polybag. The second factor is LOF Jakaba with 4 levels, namely: 0 ml/polybag, 50 ml/polybag, 100 ml/polybag, 200 ml/polybag. and used Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) analysis. The results showed that the provision of coconut shell biochar and Jakaba significantly affected plant height, fresh weight, and dry root weight of pagoda mustard greens, with the P3A3 treatment showing the best results. In contrast, the number of leaves did not show any significant difference between treatments, which was likely influenced by other factors such as environmental conditions and plant genetics. Using biochar and Jakaba can increase plant growth and development by improving nutrient availability, soil aeration, and the activity of microorganisms that support nutrient absorption
Study of Types and Doses of Fish Waste LOF on the Growth and Yield of Soybean Plants (Glycine max (L) Merrill)
Soybean is a promising crop that requires further development due to its significant market potential both locally and for export. Soybean cultivation is not widespread in South Sumatra, and production levels remain low. One strategy to enhance production is to utilize fish waste to create liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) by optimizing the type and dosage of fish waste used. This research aims to identify and determine the most suitable type and dosage of fish waste LOF for promoting the growth and yield of soybean plants. This study was conducted on a farmer's land on Jl Sukarela KM 7, Sukarami District, Palembang City. A field experiment method was employed, utilizing a split-plot design. The first factor (main plot) consisted of the type of fish waste LOF, which included a control group, LOF from marine fish waste, and LOF from river fish waste. The second factor (sub-plot) is yet to be detailed. The dosage of LOF fish waste was 10.0 ml/L, 200 ml/L, 300 ml/L, and 400 ml/L. The observed variables included plant height (cm), flowering age (days after planting), number of productive branches, number of pods per plant, number of filled pods, seed weight per plant (g), weight of 100 seeds (g), and seed weight per plot (g). The study results were obtained by tabulating the combinations of different types of liquid organic fertilizers derived from marine fish waste. The dosage of 300 ml/L yielded the highest soybean production, which was 451.00 g/plot, equivalent to 1.80 tons/ha
The Effect of Tomato LOF and Planting Media on Cherry Tomato Production (Solanum lycopersicum var. cerasiforme) DFT Aquaponic System
Shallots are a high-value commodity due to their nutritional content and benefits for heart health, cancer prevention, and immune system support. This study aims to determine the effects of the interaction between Tomato LOF and planting media on the growth and production of cherry tomatoes. The research was conducted at Dokagu UIR Housing Block D No. 2, Air Dingin Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City, over four months, from August to November 2024. The design employed in this study was a Factorial Completely Randomized Design. The Tomato LOF consisted of four treatment levels: 0, 5, 10, and 15 ml per 15 liters of water. The planting media (M) also consisted of four treatment levels: Rockwool, raw rice husks, cocopeat, and rice husk charcoal. The parameters observed included flowering age, the number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per individual fruit, and total fruit weight per plant. The results indicated that the interaction between Tomato LOF and planting media significantly affected the fruit weight per planting, specifically with 5 ml of water per 15 liters and rice husk charcoal, resulting in an average weight of 95.25 grams. For the primary treatment involving Tomato LOF, a significant effect was observed on the fruit weight per planting, particularly with 15 ml of water per 15 liters, yielding a weight of 66.94 grams. Additionally, the primary treatment of planting media significantly influenced the number of fruits per plant, with cocopeat yielding an average of 7.63 fruits, and the weight of fruit per planting with the rice husk charcoal treatment also measuring 66.94 grams
Optimizing Nasa Liquid Organic Fertilizer Concentration and NPK Fertilizer Dosage 16-16-16 on the Growth and Yield of Glutinous Corn (Zea mays ceratina L.)
Glutinous corn (Zea mays ceratina L.) is a distinctive variety known for its unique starch characteristics and high economic value. One of the challenges affecting glutinous corn plants' productivity is the soil's low nutrient content. To address this issue, improving the fertilization system is essential, which can be achieved by balancing the application of chemical fertilizers and organic fertilizers within the cultivation system. This study aims to identify the optimal doses of liquid organic fertilizer and NPK 16-16-16 fertilizer to enhance crop yields and improve fertilization efficiency. The research employed a factorial randomized block design (RAK) with two factors. The first factor is the dose of liquid organic fertilizer (C), which includes the following levels: control (without POC), 2 ml/l, 4 ml/l, and 6 ml/l. The second factor consists of the control (recommended dose of 4.5 g/plant) and doses of 2.25 g/plant, 3 g/plant, and 3.75 g/plant. Reason: Improved clarity, readability, and technical accuracy while maintaining the original meaning. The results indicated an interaction between the combination of liquid organic fertilizer and NPK 16-16-16 fertilizer treatments concerning the sugar content of glutinous corn. The treatment without applying liquid organic fertilizer (0 ml/l) yielded the highest cob weight without husks, measuring 211.22 g. Additionally, the application of NPK 16-16-16 fertilizer resulted in glutinous corn's most significant plant height at both 14 and 42 days after planting (DAP). Improving the Growth of Tomato Plants (Lycopersicum esculentum L.) by Providing Ash from Empty Oil Palm Fruit Bunches
Tomato plants (Lycopersicon esculentum L.) are among the most widely consumed vegetables worldwide and belong to the Solanaceae family. They represent a vegetable commodity with significant potential for development. This study aims to evaluate the effect of applying empty oil palm bunch ash (ATKKS) on the growth of tomato plants. The research employed a non-factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with four treatments and five replications. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), followed by a 5% Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) for further comparison. The results showed that the Sand Soil Treatment combined with 450 grams of Empty Oil Palm Bunch Ash per polybag was the most effective in promoting vegetative growth. This yield was evidenced by a significant increase in plant height, number of leaves, and stem diameter compared to other treatments. This finding indicates that the combination can optimally supply the nutrients required by plants up to the fourth week. For future research, it is recommended to evaluate the effects of this treatment during the generative phase of plant development and on production yields. Additionally, assessing its effectiveness on other plant species and under various environmental conditions will help broaden its practical application in the field
Improving Oil Palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) Farmer Productivity in Labusona Village, Labuhan Batu Regency
Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is a plantation crop that plays a vital role in the Indonesian economy. This study aims to analyze production costs, income, and the effect of production costs on oil palm farming income in Lobusona Village, Labuhanbatu Regency. The research sample consisted of 30 farmers selected through simple random sampling. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results show that the average production cost incurred by farmers was IDR 60,600,167 per year, while the average revenue reached IDR 136,266,783 per year. This yield resulted in a net income of IDR 75,666,617 per year, or approximately IDR 24,532,139 per hectare per year. The F-test results indicate that production costs, when considered simultaneously, have a significant effect on income (Sig. 0.000 < 0.05). Meanwhile, the t-test results reveal that fertilizer costs had no significant effect, whereas pesticide and labor costs had a significant adverse effect on income. Conversely, annual production, plant age, and the price of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) had a significant positive effect. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.996 demonstrates that 99.6% of the variation in income is explained by the variables included in the model. These findings suggest that the efficient allocation of production costs—particularly for pesticides and labor—is crucial for improving the profitability of oil palm farming

This research was conducted in Simpang Tanah Lapang Village, Kuantan Hilir District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. This research aims to find out how community participation in village development in Simpang Tanah Lapang Village, Kuatan Hilir District, Kuantan Singingi Regency.The problem in this research is how the community participates in village development planning deliberations (musrenbangdes) in Simpang Tanah Lapang Village, Kuantan Hilir District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. Data collection techniques in this research are observation techniques, questionnaires and documentation. The number of key informants was 4 people, consisting of the Village Head, Village Secretary, Chair of the BPD (Regional Representative Body), and the Community. Meanwhile, the types and sources of data for this research are primary data and secondary data. Then the data analysis method that the author uses in this research is a quantitative method. Based on research conducted, it was found that community participation in village development at Simpang Tanah Lapang, Kuantan Singingi Regency.
