Long bean (Vigna sinensis L.) is a valuable vegetable commodity recognized for its high nutritional value; however, its production in Indonesia has declined. This decrease can be attributed to improper cultivation techniques. To enhance production, strategies such as NPK fertilization and the application of growth regulators, specifically gibberellic acid (GA3), can be employed to improve yields. The combination of these two methods has the potential to improve both the growth and yield of long beans. This study employed a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with two factors, where each treatment combination was replicated three times. Data analysis was conducted using analysis of variance (ANOVA). This research aims to provide insights and recommendations regarding the most effective doses of NPK fertilizer and GA3 concentrations to enhance growth and yield. Specifically, it seeks to determine the optimal concentration of GA3 that promotes the growth and yield of long bean plants. The combination of NPK fertilizer and GA3 had a significant influence on the growth and yield of long bean plants. The treatment of NPK at 15 g/plant combined with GA3 at 100 ppm resulted in increased plant height, while NPK at 5 g/plant combined with GA3 at 100 ppm led to a higher number of fruits. Additionally, the combination of NPK at 15 g/plant and GA3 at 150 ppm significantly increased pod weight. Furthermore, the individual treatments of NPK at 15 g/plant and GA3 at concentrations ranging from 100 to 150 ppm also positively affected the growth and yield of long bean plants

Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) are an economically important horticultural crop that contributes to national consumption, farmer income, and foreign exchange earnings. This study aimed to determine the optimal concentrations of goat urine liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) and the plant growth regulator (PGR) paclobutrazol for enhancing shallot growth and yield. The experiment was conducted using a factorial arrangement in a Split-Plot Design with two factors and three replications. The main plot consisted of four levels of goat urine LOF (0, 100, 150, and 200 mL/L), while the subplot consisted of four levels of paclobutrazol (0, 100, 250, and 300 ppm). The results showed significant interactions between goat urine LOF and paclobutrazol on leaf and tiller numbers. Application of goat urine LOF at 100 mL/L produced the largest bulb diameter, whereas the absence of paclobutrazol (0 ppm) resulted in the greatest plant height. These findings indicate that moderate concentrations of goat urine LOF, combined with limited or no paclobutrazol application, can optimize shallot growth and yield

Gelatik eggplant (Solanum melongena var. Gelatik), commonly referred to as Lalap eggplant, is a variety that can be processed into a vegetable. However, its production has declined due to the inaccurate selection of planting media compositions and the inadequate application of fertilizers. Therefore, optimizing the planting media composition and applying an appropriate dosage of rabbit urine LOF are expected to improve the growth and yield of Gelatik eggplant. The purpose of this study was (1) to examine the interaction between planting media composition and rabbit urine LOF dosage, (2) to assess the effect of planting media composition, and (3) to evaluate the effect of rabbit urine LOF dosage. The experiment was conducted in Tuban, East Java, using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors. The first factor was planting media composition, consisting of four levels: (a) soil (control), (b) soil: rice husk charcoal: manure (2:1:1), (c) soil: rice husk charcoal: manure (1:2:1), and (d) soil: rice husk charcoal: manure (1:1:2). The second factor was rabbit urine LOF dosage, also with four levels: (a) NPK (control), (b) 300 ml/plant, (c) 400 ml/plant, and (d) 500 ml/plant. The results showed that the combination of soil, rice husk charcoal, and manure (1:1:2) and 300 ml/plant of rabbit urine LOF produced a significant interaction effect on the number of fruits per plant per harvest period. Furthermore, the composition of the planting media alone (soil: rice husk charcoal: manure, 1:1:2) significantly affected plant height, leaf number, fruit weight per fruit, fruit weight per plant, and total fruit weight per plant. Similarly, rabbit urine LOF dosage alone (300 ml/plant) significantly influenced plant height, number of leaves, fruit weight per fruit, fruit weight per plant, and total fruit weight per plant

This research was conducted from October to November 2024 in the greenhouse and laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Science, and Health at Timor University. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the interaction between biochar compost residue and tofu waste POC on the growth and yield of pak choy plants. The study employed a completely randomized design (CRD) factorial experiment consisting of two factors. The first factor was biochar compost residue, and the second factor was tofu waste POC residue. The biochar compost factor consisted of three levels: 0% biochar compost, 10% biochar compost (0.4 kg biochar compost mixed with 3.6 kg soil), and 30% biochar compost (1.2 kg biochar compost mixed with 2.8 kg soil). The tofu waste POC factor also had three levels: 0 mL/L water, 100 mL/L water, and 200 mL/L water. These factors resulted in nine treatment combinations, each replicated three times, for a total of 27 experimental units. The results showed no significant interaction between biochar compost residue and tofu waste POC. However, the biochar compost residue alone had a substantial effect on plant growth parameters. This research provides valuable information for agriculture by helping to determine the use of biochar compost as a fertilizer and growing medium in pak choy cultivation, enhancing growth and yield

Identification and Diversity of Mycorrhizae in Several Rhizosphere Vegetation Plants in Former Mining Land for Gambir Planting

    Get PDF
Post-mining land represents an ecosystem that has undergone severe degradation as a result of mineral resource exploitation. The mining process causes the loss of the topsoil layer, which is rich in organic matter, microorganisms, and essential nutrients, leading to nutrient-poor, compacted, and acidic soils that are often contaminated with heavy metals. The cultivation of gambier has been proposed as a strategy to optimize the use of post-mining land. One initial approach to address this problem is the application of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF). Soil conditions and the type of host vegetation strongly influence the diversity of AMF in post-mining areas. Therefore, identifying the presence of AMF in post-mining soils is necessary. Soil samples were collected from PT Atoz Nusantara Mining, located in Kenagarian Tambang, IV Jurai Subdistrict, Pesisir Selatan Regency. This exploratory study involved soil analysis and the identification of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. The plant species sampled included alang-alang (Imperata cylindrica), resam nail (Dicranopteris linearis), caramunting (Melastoma malabathricum), telang (Clitoria ternatea), sedge grass (Cyperus rotundus), and sembung (Blumea balsamifera). The results indicated that the occurrence of mycorrhizae in the rhizosphere varied across post-mining sites, with identified species including Acaulospora sp., Glomus sp. 1, Glomus sp. 2, Sclerocystis sp., and Gigaspora sp. These mycorrhizae demonstrate potential for restoring soil fertility in post-mining areas

    Get PDF
Rats are significant pests in oil palm plantations, attacking nearly all growth stages of the plants and causing damage that adversely affects productivity, leading to substantial losses. The protozoan Sarcocystis sp. is a parasite that infects rats and, in sufficient quantities, can cause death in these hosts. This protozoan is naturally present in rats but typically in small amounts. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of sarcosporidiasis (the presence of Sarcocystis sp.) in several rat species inhabiting smallholder oil palm plantations in Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra. Rat sampling was conducted from June to August 2025 using baited traps. The captured rats were then identified and categorized by species, sex, and weight. Sarcocystis sp. infection was detected by observing the presence of 'milky white threads' in the muscles, particularly in the rats' legs. The data obtained were analyzed both descriptively and quantitatively. Results showed that two rat species were captured: Rattus argentiventer and Rattus tiomanicus. Only 29.4% of the captured rats tested positive for the protozoan, of which 63.3% were male and 36.7% were female. All rats testing positive for the protozoan belonged exclusively to the R. tiomanicus specie
