16 slides.-- Presentation delivered within the session "Contributions from euroCRIS members (II)".-- Includes extended abstract submitted to the eventThe presentation summarises the discussions held at the third “International Forum on Expert Finder Systems” that took place in Miami, Florida, USA on 5-6 April 2023. An update is provided on the event itself, with an overview of the program highlights and keynote speakers. This is placed in the context of the efforts to create a North American community of practice around research information management and of previous work done by OCLC -- the 'Research Information Management in the United States' report -- to analyse the evolving CRIS landscape in the country
NVA: A National Repository and Research Information System
32 slides.-- Presentation delivered within the session "An update on the CRISCROS WG"The presentation introduces the new Norwegian national repository and research information system (NVA for Nasjonalt Vitenarkiv) currently in the process of being built by Sikt (Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research). A historical snapshot is provided describing the evolution in the common repository and CRIS infrastructure over the years. The new system, whose features are thoroughly described, aims to achieve a further service integration on the national level
Introducing the PURE User Community in Belgium
29 slides.-- Presentation delivered within the "National session (I)"The presentation introduces the Belgium Pure User Group, which includes the Free University of Brussels (VUB), the Institute for Nature and Forest Research (INBO), the Institute of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Research (ILVO), the Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp (ITG), the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre (SCKEN) and the University of Namur besides a group of Pure users via the multitenant instance at EWI in Flanders (Botanic Garden Meise, Department of Environment and Health, ZOO-Koninklijke Maatschappij voor Dierkunde van Antwerpen and the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp). Most of these Pure instances are in Flanders and have research information exchange mechanisms in place with FRIS, the Flemish Research Information Space, via a FRIS module in Pure developed by Elsevier. The Flemish discipline codes are also regularly used across all CRIS instances in Flanders

14 slidesPresentation on recent and forthcoming euroCRIS activities delivered by the new euroCRIS President for 2023/24 Jan Dvořák at the Spring 2023 Membership Meeting in Brussels. The presentation introduces the new euroCRIS Board for the term 2023/24, provides the location and dates for forthcoming euroCRIS events and summarises the currently ongoing projects and governance-related initiatives
CroRIS Data Quality Issues and Possible Solutions
23 slides.-- Presentation delivered by Petra Udovičić within the session "An update on the CRISCROS WG".-- Includes extended abstract submitted to the eventThere have been previous presentation of the Croatian national CRIS (CroRIS) at various euroCRIS events. These provided updates on its architecture, design, modules and the role it will take as a NOSC service catalogue as well. This presentation addresses the so far little-discussed topic of data quality, especially taking into account the various sources of data being migrated and blended into CroRIS and the large number of its everyday users. The presentation describes the complex research information landscape in Croatia prior to the arrival of CroRIS and the various workflows and system role definitions adopted by the national CRIS initiative to optimise the quality of the data held in it and the way it's displayed to the outside world
Responsible research assessment principles for research information management
15 slides.-- Presentation delivered within the session "Contributions from euroCRIS members (I)".-- Includes extended abstract submitted to the eventThe presentation introduces the main documents currently defining responsible research assessment and how their principles and guidelines address research information management. The issue is further examined in the context the Finnish research information portal, Research.fi. Research.fi is a pilot case in an EU-funded project that supports the merging policy reforms and paves the way towards an open science aware responsible research assessment system. As part of the project an analysis of Research.fi in terms of its current activities as well as future ambitions in the context of responsible research assessment is conducted. The presentation provides an overview of the preliminary results as well as some initial conclusions from the on-going analysis
Beyond CRIS: A research and higher education information system in Poland
Includes presentation (24 slides) and full paper (12 pages).-- Presented by Aldona Tomczyńska and Emil Podwysocki within the EUNIS 2023 session "IT Support for Research 2".-- Event programme available at https://www.eunis.org/eunis2023/schedule/This article presents a recently implemented Polish information technology system that provides official data on science and higher education. The RAD-on is an upgraded analytical platform of the CRIS and HEMIS systems that exist in other countries. The article outlines RAD-on’s applications in decision-making processes at research, governmental, and nongovernmental institutions. The special role and the innovation of the RAD-on system for the science and higher education sector are illustrated using examples of its practical use by universities, government ministries, foundations, and journalists. The article also describes trends in the use of data in decision-making processes, reviews the CRIS and HEMIS nationwide systems in use across the world, and compares them to RAD-on to discuss the latter’s unique features. It also reflects on RAD-on’s functionalities and how they are used in practice by the stakeholders of the science and higher education system. The article concludes by discussing the challenges of open access to government data and the development plans for RAD-on
Open Science @EU: An overview and current developments
23 slides.-- Keynote speech at the Spring 2023 euroCRIS membership meeting in BrusselsThe presentation focuses on the Open Science policy of the European Commission, primarily as expressed through Horizon Europe, but also work carried out with member states, stakeholders and other funders. It will describes recent activities such as Open Research Europe, the open access peer-reviewed publishing platform of the European Commission and plans for its future in the context of work to support non-profit publishing activities across Europe. Further, current work on the Reform of Research Assessment and the European Open Science Cloud is also addressed
Exploring the boundaries of CRIS systems
15 slides.-- Presentation delivered within the session "Contributions from euroCRIS members (II)".-- Includes extended abstract submitted to the eventIn a joint euroCRIS/EARMA session held in Feb 2021, the Research Information Management (RIM) community explored to what extent there was a dichotomy between the RIM and the RMA domains (Research Management and Administration). The conclusion of the session was that there was no such dichotomy but that these were complementary areas that could benefit from shared research information management workflows. In fact, CRIS systems are increasingly serving the whole project lifecycle from the process for putting together a project proposal to the collection of the references for the latest projects outputs and the assessment of its research impact. These systems usually have a modular architecture where some modules – usually those dealing with Open Science – are openly available while others remain closed and for internal use-only at institutions. The question these workflows covering the whole project lifecycle raise is whether or not CRIS systems can be considered to have boundaries. For instance: if an institution is operating just one of such "RMA modules", say a post-award module, and this is run in a closed mode, i.e. not visible from the outside or even referenced on the institutional website on research, can this be considered to be a CRIS if there is no openly available research portal associated with it or any trace of it on any institutional webpage
Digital Open Science Platform (DOSP) for the Flemish Universities of Applied Sciences & Arts
21 slides.-- Presentation delivered within the "National session (II)"The DOSP (Digital Open Science Platform) is the research information management platform developed by 13 Flemish Universities of Applied Sciences or hogescholen to meet the data delivery requirements to the FRIS regional CRIS. DOSP is based on a Microsoft project management platform (Mycrosoft Dynamics) coupled to MS Teams as a collaboration space so that it's interoperable with other institution-specific software besides ensuring automatic synchronisation of real-time data with FRIS. DOSP is internally integrated with the institutional repository, payroll platform and accounting system. The information exchange workflows with the regional CRIS are described
