PROBLEMS IN TEACHING ARABIC IN INDIA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO JAMIA MILLIA ISLAMIA
Abstract: The contribution of India in the development of the Arabic language has been realized since a long time ago and it has a long history because of Urdu language has become a small part of the Arabic language besides that the cultures and civilizations that exist in India have something in common. Likewise, the establishment of Islamic and general education centers that pay attention to learning Arabic shows that there is a close historical relationship with this country. CONSTRUCTIVISM AND TEACHING DESIGN: In Search of An Appropriate Learning Process of Sharia Entrepreneurship For Pesantren-Based University
Abstract: The development and ever-changing curriculum of university offers some possibilities for socio-educational innovation of the high-level education. It includes Pesantren-based University. Constructivist learning process may further develop such an innovation. It is designed as a flexible curriculum and multi-interpretable model of implementation and adjustable contents of learning with high focus to the practice and disseminating of knowledge. Surely, it may pave the way for designing and creating socio-educational engineering, such as building strong character and high focus to the disseminating and practice of sharia entrepreneurship. This study aims to designing constructive model of learning to disseminate and create a strong bones and practical type of sharia entrepreneurship in the milieu of Islamic boarding school (Pesantren) as it is reflected in the Pesantren Darunnajah. The research method is done through evaluative instrumental method of curriculum accompanied by critical review of learning process theories. It is done based on library research, qualitative approach as well as constructive model. It offers agenda setting of socio-educational reference and applicative model. It deserves to produce and contribute an authentic result, while such a constructive framework of educational inquiry is still rare and in the process of becoming. The result be it is proven that constructive learning process can be an alternative for developing concept as well as practical model for Pesantren-based University.Keywords: Constructivism, Design Model, Pesantren-based University, Sharia Entrepreneurship
THE POSITION OF NEGERI SERDANG SULTANATE (1865-1946) TOWARDS ISLAMIC LEGAL DEVELOPMENT
Abstract: This study aims to determine the form of legal policy of the Serdang State Sultanate in strengthening fiqh & fiqh proposals. Strategic steps of the Sultan’s legal policy in strengthening fiqh & fiqh proposals in the State of Serdang. The research is normative legal research and empirical law. These two types of research are deliberately carried out in order to search for deeper data. Normative research is theoretical research, comparative philosophical structures and others. The results of the study show: First, the Sultanate of Serdang has succeeded in putting in the form and construct of legal policies that are accommodative, open and democratic in nature. Second, the legal policies of the Serdang Sultanate in strengthening fiqh & fiqh proposals can be seen in: (1). Encouraging the creation of personal fatwas carried out by scholars in responding to various problems that arise. (2). Encouraging the creation of institutional fatwas, in which the Sultan has established an Islamic legal institution called the Syar’i Council, is an attempt by the Sultan to introduce the mufti institution as the institution responsible for giving religious and social fatwas.Keywords: Fiqh/Fiqh proposal, Legal policy, Sultan of Serdan
SOCIAL AND RELIGIOUS DIMENSIONS OF CHILDREN’S INHERITANCE IN TURKEY, SAUDI ARABIA AND INDONESIA
Abstract: This paper explores the framework of inheritance provisions for biological children and adopted children in three different countries, namely Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia. The reinterpretation of children's inheritance rights in society today demonstrates the increasing response to social context vis a vis religious text. Turkey and Indonesia share an emphasis on social dimension in reinterpreting children's inheritance rights for men and women portions. Saudi Arabia, however, is remained to adopt conservative approach in interpreting the religious texts wherein men’s share twice as much as women. This research is a normative (doctrinal) approach in comparing legal issues on inheritance exercised in three countries. The data are based on literature such as regulation, books, journals, and related articles. This paper argues that socio-cultural conditions, political dynamics and ideological mainstream shape the nature of law in each country. MAWLID CELEBRATION IN ACEH: Culture, Religious Expression, and Political Medium
Abstract: This study is an ethnographic note about the Mawlid celebrations in Aceh. In contrast to most studies by previous scholars who saw Mawlid as a medium for normative theological discourse, this article aims to narrate the Mawlid phenomenon by focusing on how the Acehnese celebrated Mawlid, how the religious expression was, and how Mawlid became a political medium. This study showed that the Mawlid celebration in Aceh is not just a tradition or an expression of love for the Prophet but a cultural construction inherent to the Acehnese society, religious expression, and political media. Mawlid as a cultural construction is manifested in various forms of unique food dishes, as a religious expression manifested in typical Dhikr and Lectures Mawlid, and as a political medium seen from the invitations of Mawlid, Mawlid Pemda, and Mawlid at home.Keywords: Acehnese; Mawlid Celebration; Culture; Social Identity; Religious Expression; Political Medium
DYNAMIZATION OF ISLAMIC RELIGION EDUCATION: A Critical Study on Genealogy of Islamic Boarding School’s Scholarly Tradition in Lombok
Abstract: This study departed from a reality about the pesantren’s scholarly tradition genealogy with unknown scholarly source. Considering such academic restlessness, the question to be answered by the author is “where does the pesantren’s scholarly tradition genealogy existing in Lombok come from? This study was a qualitative research with field research and used such approaches as historical philological, cultural and sociological. This study represents that the pesantren’s scholarly tradition genealogy in Lombok is affected by Javanese Pesantren’s scholarly tradition, Makassar Islam, and Middle East education. However, some dynamics occur in Pesantrens in Lombok, so that the reform of scholarship tradition is required, to keep the pesantren existing in the future.Keywords: genealogy, scholarly tradition, pesantren, islamization, Lombo
THE INOVATION OF DAYAH CURRICULUM IN MEETING THE NATIONAL EDUCATION STANDARDS IN ACEH
Abstract: This article aims to describe the inovation of dayah curriculum and its obstacles in meeting the national education standards in Aceh. This is a qualitative study with juridical approach accredited by the National Accreditation Board of School/Madrasas (BAN-SM). The findings show that the innovation of dayah curriculum has not been implemented except for the innovation of institutional system embedded in all levels of formal education. The fulfillment of national standards for dayah education show that a very small number of dayah have met the applicable provisions, the most of them have not met several indicators of the eight standards set. Meanwhile, dayah’s obstacles in meeting national education standards include incapability of human resources, incapability of institution in managing its funds and financial reporting, the last obstacles are lack of area development, provision, and administrative management and school documentation.Keywords: inovation, dayah, Aceh, education, curriculu
PORTRAYING THE TRACT OF ISLAM IN EMPOWERING THE DYNAMICS OF THE POTENTIAL OF MARITIME NUSANTARA THROUGH THE SPICE ROUTE PERSPECTIVE
Abstract: The increasing influence of Islam in the archipelago was marked by the establishment of a number of sultanates. Based on the fact of the significant existence of the sultanate it is may indicate as evidence of political power. In the footsteps of Islam Nusantara, political power was achieved after great successes in building economic power, education, cultural-intellectual networks. Therefore, the stage of the traces of Islam Nusantara is not an event that is considered strange. Until the 17th century AD, there were even a number of sultanates on the islands of Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua, and Nusa Tenggara. The spread of the existence of a number of these sultanates in a relay as evidence of the results of the exemplary performances of a number of sultanates that had existed before. The approach used in this paper is a historical approach by utilizing study materials from historical literature. In compiling historical facts, it is guided by a logical framework arrangement according to chronological order. The conclusion is that, thanks to the wealth and social forces empowered by Muslim communities in various places in the archipelago, they can play political roles in political entities as evidenced by the birth of a number of Sultanates. This historical fact, at least strengthens Anthony Reid's theory, that the maritime economy is an indicator of maritime trade that unites trade routes with the formation of port cities as international trade routes.Keywords: empowerment, trade, maritime, Islamic Sultanate in the archipelag
CONSIDERING MURABAHAH GOLD FINANCING PRACTICE IN ACEH WITH REFERENCE TO ISLAMIC BANKING AND SHARIA PAWNSHOP
Abstract: The purpose of the study was to determine the implementation of gold murabahah financing for Islamic banking and Sharia pawnshops, the reasons for the differences in implementation, and their suitability in the Islamic economic perspective. In principle, the implementation of financing gold murabahah of sharia banking and sharia pawnshops is similar in form. But what distinguishes it lies in the technique of contracting and the transaction of delivery of goods. For example, customers buying gold in murabahah can take the purchase gold directly without waiting for the installment to be paid off and if the gold is available, and provide collateral with other goods, but in some other Islamic banks, the goods purchased must be used as collateral so that in this Islamic banking using a double contract, namely the murabahah contract at the time of purchase of goods, Then the rahn contract (pawn) when the goods are used as collateral. This is the same as the practice carried out by sharia pawnshops in Aceh province. As such, it can be concluded that the implementation of gold murabahah financing in Islamic financial institutions according to the Islamic economy is in accordance with Islamic economic principles.Keywords: Islamic economics, financing, murabahah, shariah banking, and sharia pownsho
K.H.E. ABDURRAHMAN AND FORMULATION OF CADRE EDUCATION IN PERSATUAN ISLAM’S BOARDING SCHOOLS
Abstract: This present study discusses the boarding school-based regeneration in Persatuan Islam (PERSIS) organization formulated by KH. Endang Abdurrahman during the period of 1954-1983. Historical approach is employed in this study with qualitative descriptive model. It reveals that cadre management is culturally performed, where direct and personal relationship between teacher and students are formed. In its development, PERSIS regeneration is more organized through educational institution: Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) owned by PERSIS and courses for Muballigh or preacher. Historically, this reinforcement gained its momentum when PERSIS was led by KH. E. Abdurrahman from 1962 to1983.The system developed by Abdulrahman was yet exclusive and unintegrated with the national education system. Through such system, PERSIS was able to produce many religious scholars (muballigh and ustadz).Keywords: PERSIS, cadres management, PERSIS Pesantren, K.H.E. Abdurrahma
