Background: First aid (FA) is the initial care provided for an acute illness or injury. This study aimed to determine the impact of parents' knowledge, attitude, and self-efficacy on pediatric first aid in Tabuk City. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional design study was conducted among 527 parents in Tabuk City. The participants completed a validated online questionnaire comprising 10 demographic questions, 25 knowledge questions, 11 questions on attitude, and 11 questions on parents’ self-efficacy concerning pediatric first aid. Results: Most participants were females (76%) between the ages of 41 and 50 (34%). A total of 97% were Saudi, and 79% had a high level of education (university or higher). The majority of participants were knowledgeable about first aid. The results also indicated that most parents have an appropriate attitude toward pediatric first aid. Finally, the parents’ self-efficacy revealed acceptable to high self-efficacy levels concerning pediatric first aid. Parents were confident and showed the necessary self-efficacy in nine out of 11 parts. Conclusion: Based on the present study’s findings, most parents in Tabuk City, Saudi Arabia, have basic knowledge of but limited experience with first aid. However, they are willing to improve their competence to ensure their household members, especially children, are safe from injuries and complications
Does corporate governance affect M&As’ impact on social and environmental performance? Evidence from Milan Stock Exchange’s listed firms
This study’s aim is twofold: (1) to explore the effect of mergers and acquisitions (M&As) on bidders’ social and environmental performance, and 2) to determine the potential drivers of this process by focusing on corporate governance characteristics. The analysis is based on M&As performed by firms listed on the Milan Italian Stock Exchange during the 5-year period of 2018–2022. The research data were retrieved from the FactSet and Refinitiv Eikon databases and examined using regression analyses. The findings demonstrate that M&As positively affect social and environmental performance, as long as good corporate governance practices are in place. The current research draws on stakeholder-agency theory and identifies the potential drivers of the value creation process in the M&A context enhancing the limited existing literature on this topic. The findings highlight the role of corporate governance in strengthening the impact of M&As on bidders’ non-financial performance, offering valuable practical implications. First, investors and financial analysts should develop a comprehensive perspective to assess the M&A’s impact on non-financial performance. Second, regulators should consider strengthening specific corporate governance requirements. Finally, policymakers should encourage M&As undertaken by firms with sustainability-oriented boards of directors
Psychological support using digital tools for students who are victims of gender-based violence involves using technology to organise and monitor this type of support. These tools facilitate the coordination of interventions, the monitoring of progress, and access to resources to help students overcome the traumas associated with such violence. How do digital tools enable effective psychological support for pupils who are victims of gender-based violence? This study is based on a qualitative approach. The sample is made up of 6 pupils who have suffered GBV and received psychological support via digital media, as well as 3 heads of guidance counseling who supervised 16 guidance counselors involved in this process. The data was collected using semi-structured interviews. The analysis is based on the thematic content analysis method. Digital tools improve the interaction between students and guidance counselors through flexible, personalised, and secure communication. Digital media, in particular mobile applications and the telephone, offer accessible and safe psychological support for pupils who are victims of gender-based violence, although there is still a need for improvement and adoption. Evaluation of digital psychological support shows that it is effective as perceived by pupils, but highlights challenges relating to safety and continuity of follow–up. It requires further analysis to maximise its lasting impact
Crisis, Recovery, and Regional Asymmetries: A Firm-Level Financial Analysis of Italian Food and Beverage SMEs
This study investigates the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Italy’s food and beverage processing sector. Drawing on firm-level panel data from the AIDA database, the analysis spans the period 2019–2022 and focuses on structural resilience and heterogeneity across firm sizes and regions. A sample of 1,600 SMEs was examined, segmented by workforce size and macro-geographical area. Key performance indicators - Return on Equity (ROE), Return on Investment (ROI), debt ratio, and EBITDA per employee - were analyzed to track changes before, during, and after the crisis. Findings reveal a substantial contraction in profitability in 2020, with ROE declining by 147% in the North, while Southern firms demonstrated relatively greater resilience. ROI dropped sharply across all areas, with incomplete recovery by 2022. Debt ratios exceeded 70% sector-wide during the crisis, underscoring high financial vulnerability. EBITDA rebounded after a 10% contraction, though rising labor costs - up 8.3% by 2022 - constrained operational efficiency. Supplementary analyses include a firm-level classification of performance evolution, a correlation matrix revealing moderate alignment between investment and profitability metrics, and a cluster analysis that distinguishes between typical SME trajectories, distressed micro-firms, and structurally distinct large enterprises. The results highlight asymmetrical recovery paths shaped by firm size and regional conditions.
Overall, the study underscores the importance of differentiated policy approaches tailored to the structural and territorial characteristics of the sector, to support long-term resilience and mitigate the effects of future systemic shocks
The legitimacy of the monarchy was primarily based on its sacred character. The sovereign, possessing the baraka of his ancestors, ruled over his subjects by virtue of his rank and lineage. However, with the establishment of the French Protectorate, this tradition was broken. For the first time in Morocco’s political history, a sovereign found himself without the monopoly on legitimate physical force. We will examine the relationship between the colonial administration and the monarchy of Moulay Youssef in order to identify the structural fractures that the court culture experienced. The withdrawal of the sacred from the political sphere began to manifest itself as early as the first years of the Protectorate. This form of secularization was not a reversal or a definitive withdrawal of the sacred, but rather a reinterpretation of tradition

This study aimed to identify key curricular indicators for strengthening pandemic preparedness in undergraduate biomedical and health sciences education, with Georgia as a representative case study of a resource-constrained setting.
Methods: A qualitative study was conducted using semi-structured virtual interviews with 33 educators from the programs of medicine, public health, nursing, dentistry, and pharmacy - 30 based in Georgian institutions and three international experts contributing to triangulation. Data collected between May and August 2024 were analysed using inductive thematic analysis with MAXQDA.
Findings: Thematic analysis revealed three core areas for reform: (1) strengthening institutional readiness by embedding pandemic-focused content and simulation-based learning; (2) enhancing public health communication, including vaccine advocacy and crisis response messaging; and (3) expanding research and collaborative capacity through interdisciplinary and international engagement.
Conclusion: This study offers practical, curriculum-level strategies to close educational gaps and strengthen pandemic preparedness in undergraduate biomedical and health sciences education. Using Georgia as a case example, the findings present a scalable reform framework that can strengthen system resilience and better prepare future professionals for public health emergencies
In modern states, identity documents are essential for access to fundamental rights. In Côte d'Ivoire, the end of the post-electoral crisis in 2010 was marked by a clear determination on the part of the new authorities to find a solution to the question of identity, which until then had crystallized tensions in the country. With this in mind, the State, sometimes supported by development partners, implemented a series of measures to facilitate access to identity documents for the population. Despite these actions, a mapping study of people at risk of statelessness in Côte d'Ivoire dated 2019 shows that Téhini department is home to the highest number of stateless people in the country, estimated at 15,884, nearly 36.14% of the locality's population. Thus, through a qualitative approach combining observation, documentary research and manual thematic analysis of text corpora from transcribed interviews, this study examines the structuring of the persistence of local citizenship without legal identity documents in this department. The results reveal that public actions to combat the risk of statelessness, asymmetric information on mobile court procedures and territorial marginalization in the implementation of public actions to facilitate access to identity documents structure the continued use of local citizenship without identity documents in Téhini department
