Strengthening Islamic Religious Literacy and Children’s Communication Skills through Inter-Qur’anic Education Center Competition Activities
Inter-Qur’anic Education Center (Taman Pendidikan Al-Qur’an/TPA) competition activities represent a form of student community service in the fields of education and religion. Low levels of Islamic religious literacy and limited communication skills among children in TPA remain prevalent, particularly with regard to basic understanding of Islamic teachings, social relationships, and interpersonal interaction. These conditions are closely related to the continued use of conventional and less varied learning methods. This community service program was implemented through inter-TPA competition activities aimed at strengthening children’s Islamic religious literacy, fostering social interaction, and enhancing communication between students (santri) and instructors (ustadz). The program employed a participatory and collaborative approach, implemented through several stages, including planning, coordination with TPA administrators, execution of competition activities, and evaluation of outcomes. Data were collected through observation, discussion, and documentation, while data analysis was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method. The results indicate that the program successfully increased children’s motivation to learn Islamic teachings, strengthened solidarity among TPAs, and fostered Islamic values among participants. Therefore, inter-TPA competition activities can be considered an effective method for strengthening Islamic religious literacy and improving children’s communication skills

Gender Equality in Islamic Education: Realizing Inclusivity in Lampung's Multicultural Society
This study explores the implementation of gender equality in Islamic education within the multicultural context of Lampung, Indonesia, examining how gender-sensitive practices are integrated into Islamic educational settings. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research combines quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews to assess gender equality awareness among teachers and students in 10 Islamic schools across Lampung. The findings indicate that while awareness of gender equality is moderate, significant cultural and religious barriers persist, hindering the full implementation of gender-sensitive educational practices. The study highlights the gap between national policies on gender equality and their inconsistent application in rural and conservative regions, where traditional gender roles are deeply ingrained in educational practices. Additionally, the research identifies opportunities for change through targeted teacher training programs and policy reforms that address both gender equality and cultural diversity. The theoretical framework integrates feminist educational theory, which critiques patriarchal interpretations of religious texts, and multicultural education theory, which advocates for inclusive educational environments that respect cultural differences. This research contributes to the ongoing discourse on gender equality in education, providing valuable insights into the complexities of implementing gender-sensitive education in Islamic institutions, particularly in multicultural and conservative contexts like Lampung. The study calls for further research to explore the long-term impact of gender-sensitive education and to incorporate a broader range of stakeholders, including policymakers and community leaders, in future interventions
The Effect of the Ratio of Methyl Metacrylate and Styrene on the Grafting Copolymerization of Natural Rubber Latex as an Emulsion Paint Binder
The emulsion paint industry still relies heavily on conventional synthetic binders, such as acrylic and vinyl resins, which are derived from petrochemicals and pose sustainability and environmental concerns. This study explores the use of natural rubber latex as an alternative, more environmentally friendly binder through a graft copolymerization process with styrene and methyl methacrylate monomers. The reaction was carried out with the addition of 2% sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) surfactant and 2% benzoyl peroxide (BPO) initiator. The success of the graft was confirmed by the appearance of distinctive peaks in the FTIR spectrum and the increase in the mechanical strength of the resulting binder. Application to emulsion paints demonstrated better performance than pure latex, particularly in adhesion, scrubbing resistance, and water resistance. In addition to improved technical performance, the use of natural rubber also offers advantages over synthetic acrylic binders, including local raw material availability, lower production costs, and a smaller environmental footprint. These results demonstrate that modified natural rubber latex has potential as an environmentally friendly binder for paint, providing a practical basis for the development of sustainable emulsion paint formulations that can support the competitiveness and independence of the national paint industry

Pharmacognostic Characterization and Standardization of the Aerial Parts of Enhydra fluctuans Lour. Collected in West Sumatra, Indonesia
The standardization of herbal raw materials is a critical prerequisite for ensuring the safety and reproducibility of traditional medicines. Enhydra fluctuans Lour. (Asteraceae), a semi-aquatic herb widely used in West Sumatra as a leafy vegetable and reported to possess antioxidant, thrombolytic, hepatoprotective, and antidiabetic activities. Despite these recognized bioactivities, comprehensive pharmacognostic data that would support the authentication, identification, and quality control of this species remain scarce. This study aimed to characterize the morphological, anatomical, and physicochemical properties of the aerial parts of E. fluctuans, and to establish standardization parameters following the guidelines of the Indonesian Herbal Pharmacopoeia. Morphological evaluation was conducted through macroscopic assessment of fresh plant material and simplicia, whereas anatomical structures were examined using transverse and longitudinal sections observed under a light microscope. Physicochemical analyses included determination of acid-insoluble ash and quantification of heavy metal contaminants (Cd and Pb) using gravimetric and spectroscopic methods. The leaves were found to exhibit both paracytic and actinocytic stomatal types, accompanied by glandular trichomes, while the stems showed bicollateral vascular bundles as a defining anatomical feature. The simplicia were characterized by their green coloration, distinctive odor, bitter taste, and the presence of dispersed prismatic calcium oxalate crystals. The non-specific parameters include total ash content, acid-insoluble ash, moisture content, and heavy metal contamination (Cd and Pb) met the acceptable limits defined by the Indonesian Herbal Pharmacopoeia. These findings strengthen its potential application as a safe and reliable herbal raw material for future pharmacological investigations and herbal product development
