Automated Personal Authentication Using Both Palmprints
Abstract. To satisfy personal interests, different entertainment computing should be performed for different people (called personal entertainment computing). For personal entertainment computing, the personal identity should be first automatically authenticated. This paper proposes a novel approach for automated personal authentication by using both palmprints. The experimental results show that the fusion of the information of both palmprints can dramatically improve the authentication accuracy

The Outcome of Minimally Invasive Discectomy in Single Level Lumbar Disc Prolapse
Abstract Lumbar disc surgery in carefully selected patients who have failed conservative treatments can significantly improve quality of life. Minimally invasive treatment of lumbar disc herniation has been popularized in recent years. The aim of the study was to assess the outcome of minimal invasive (loupe) discectomy among lumbar disc prolapse patients in Sulaimani. A prospective study carried out in Shar and Sulaimani Teaching hospitals in Sulaimani city for period from 1 st of February, 2013 to end of June, 2014 on sample of 30 patients with single level lumbar disc prolapse admitted to orthopedic units. The data were collected by the researcher through direct interview and filling a prepared questionnaire. The outcome of surgery was evaluated by comparing the symptoms (back pain, leg pain, and leg parathesia) and the muscle power grading (EHL & FHL) of the patients pre-and post-operatively. Mean age of studied patients was 39.1 ± 9.3 years. Males were more than females. Disc prolapse level was L4-L5 among 17 and L5-S1 among 13 patients. Studying the symptoms pre-and post-operatively, revealed significant decrease in leg pain, leg parathesia and back pain post-operatively (p < 0.001). Studying EHL & FHL power grading preand post-operatively, revealed significant increase in muscle power grades 4 and grade 5 postoperatively (p < 0.001). We concluded that minimal invasive discectomy is good and safe treatment option for lumbar disc prolapse
Local Pruning for Information Dissemination in Dynamic Networks for Solving the Idempotent Semiring Algebraic Path Problem
Abstract-We present a method, inspired from routing in dynamic data networks, to solve the Semiring Algebraic Path Problem (SAPP) for dynamic graphs. The method can be used in dynamic networks such as Mobile Ad Hoc Networks, where the network link states are highly dynamic. The algorithm makes use of broadcasting as primary mechanism to recompute the SAPP solution. The solution suffers from broadcast storm problems, and we propose a selective broadcasting mechanism that reduces the broadcast storm. We call this method local pruning and prove its correctness
OPTIMUM SCHEDULING FOR ORTHOGONAL MULTIPLE ACCESS OVER FADING CHANNELS USING QUANTIZED CHANNEL STATE INFORMATION
ABSTRACT The efficiency of multi-access communications over wireless fading links benefits from channel-adaptive allocation of the available bandwidth and power resources. Different from most existing approaches that allocate resources based on perfect channel state information (P-CSI), this work optimizes channel scheduling and resource allocation over orthogonal fading channels when user terminals and the scheduler rely on quantized channel state information (Q-CSI). The novel unifying approach optimizes an average transmit-performance criterion subject to average quality of service requirements. The resultant optimal policy per fading realization either allocates the entire channel to a single (winner) user, or, to a small group of winner users whose percentage of shared resources is found by solving a linear program. Both alternatives become possible by smoothing the allocation scheme. The smooth policy is asymptotically optimal and incurs reduced computational complexity
Resonant Modes of Vortex Structures in Soft-magnetic nanodiscs
Abstract We present micromagnetic finite-element simulations on the dynamic response of a soft-magnetic disc exposed to an oscillatory field applied in the disc plane. The disc is magnetized in a vortex state. At lower frequencies (about 200 MHz in our example) we find a motion of the vortex core on an elliptical orbit as a resonant mode. At higher frequencies, the out-of-plane component of the magnetization becomes resonant by the excitation of standing magnetostatic waves.
