The Antineutrino Energy Structure in Reactor Experiments
The publication of this article was funded by SCOAP 3 . The recent observation of an energy structure in the reactor antineutrino spectrum is reviewed. The reactor experiments Daya Bay, Double Chooz, and RENO have reported a consistent excess of antineutrinos deviating from the flux predictions, with a local significance of about 4 between 4 and 6 MeV of the positron energy spectrum. The possible causes of the structure are analyzed in this work, along with the different experimental approaches developed to identify its origin. Considering the available data and results from the three experiments, the most likely explanation concerns the reactor flux predictions and the associated uncertainties. Therefore, the different current models are described and compared. The possible sources of incompleteness or inaccuracy of such models are discussed, as well as the experimental data required to improve their precision
Investigation of thermal processes during test operation of ingot mould with composite surface layer
Abstract The paper presents a method of usable properties of surface layers improvement of grey cast iron EN-GJL-200 ingot mould, by put directly in founding process a composite surface layer on the basis of corundum Al 2 O 3 and quartz sand SiO 2 . Technology of composite surface layer guarantee mainly increase in hardness and abrasive wear resistance of cast steel and cast iron castings on machine elements. This technology can be competition for generally applied welding technology (surfacing by welding and thermal spraying). The results of studies show, that is positive influence of composite surface layer with ceramic particles on increase in life of cast iron ingot moulds
Application of Random Forest Survival Models to Increase Generalizability of Decision Trees: A Case Study in Acute Myocardial Infarction
Background. Tree models provide easily interpretable prognostic tool, but instable results. Two approaches to enhance the generalizability of the results are pruning and random survival forest (RSF). The aim of this study is to assess the generalizability of saturated tree (ST), pruned tree (PT), and RSF. Methods. Data of 607 patients was randomly divided into training and test set applying 10-fold cross-validation. Using training sets, all three models were applied. Using Log-Rank test, ST was constructed by searching for optimal cutoffs. PT was selected plotting error rate versus minimum sample size in terminal nodes. In construction of RSF, 1000 bootstrap samples were drawn from the training set. C-index and integrated Brier score (IBS) statistic were used to compare models. Results. ST provides the most overoptimized statistics. Mean difference between C-index in training and test set was 0.237. Corresponding figure in PT and RSF was 0.054 and 0.007. In terms of IBS, the difference was 0.136 in ST, 0.021 in PT, and 0.0003 in RSF. Conclusion. Pruning of tree and assessment of its performance of a test set partially improve the generalizability of decision trees. RSF provides results that are highly generalizable

Executive Summary Sulfate solubility in glass is a key parameter in many commercial glasses and nuclear waste glasses. This report summarizes key publications specific to sulfate solubility experimental methods and the underlying physical chemistry calculations. The published methods and experimental data are used to verify the calculations in this report and are expanded to a range of current technical interest. The calculations and experimental methods described in this report will guide several experiments on sulfate solubility and saturation for the Hanford Waste Treatment Plant Enhanced Waste Glass Models effort. There are several tables of sulfate gas equilibrium values at high temperature to guide experimental gas mixing and to achieve desired SO 3 levels. This report also describes the necessary equipment and best practices to perform sulfate saturation experiments for molten glasses. Results and findings will be published when experimental work is finished and this report is validated from the data obtained
THE EFFECT OF ORGANIC MANAGEMENT TREATMENTS ON THE PRODUCTIVITY AND QUALITY OF LEMON GRASS (CYMBOPOGON CITRATUS)
Abstract An experiment was conducted at the Model Organic Farm of CSK Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University, Palampur (31º54' N and 76º17' E), Himachal Pradesh, India, to evaluate the effect of various organic management treatments on the productivity and quality of lemon grass (Cymbopogon citratus). Organic inputs (viz. farm yard manure (FYM); vermicompost; agnihotra ash; and neem powder) were added at the time of planting, while Bt + Himbio and the biodynamic preparation BD 500 were sprayed regularly at one month intervals. Crops were sown on dates matching moon and non moon position according to the Biodynamic Planting Calendar. Addition of agnihotra ash along with sowing as per moon position resulted in a higher yield of lemon grass (+124%, +99%) and a higher oil per cent (+155%, +144%) over the control, in both the years of study. Sowing as per moon position may have improved germination rate, water absorption and metabolism of the plants, whereas addition of agnihotra ash may have stabilized the nutrients present in soil

Calori�etric �tudy o� Mesoporous ��A-1� Modi�ed �or Controlled Valproic Acid Delivery
SBA-15 ordered mesoporous silica functionalized with (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES) was used as the carrier for anticonvulsant drug 2-propylpentanoic acid (valproic acid). e surface of SBA-15 containing free silanol groups was modi�ed with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane via postsynthetic reaction. Functionalization of the carrier with basic aminopropyl groups resulted in an ionic interaction with acidic valproic acid. e samples of carriers and carrier-drug complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, N2 adsorption, FTIR, and �V spectroscopy. e adsorption of valproic acid on modi�ed mesoporous matrix was proportional to the amount of introduced aminopropyl groups. A thermodynamic study with isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) was made to characterize the modi�cation and encapsulation of SBA-15 with APTES and valproic acid, respectively. e maximum content of deposited drug in modi�ed SBA-15 was close to 30 wt.%. Tests performed in acidic solution (pH 2.0) showed the best pharmaceutical availability
