INTERPERSONAL HAND-ENERGY REGISTRATION: EVIDENCE FOR IMPLICIT PERFORMANCE AND PERCEPTION
Get PDFTreatments such as Non-Contact Therapeutic Touch are based on the hypothesis that the hands can send and receive energy and information. From a dynamical energy systems perspective, the hands can be viewed as rich generators of complex patterns of biophysical energy and information, including electrostatic movement effects, electromagnetic potentials (muscular, cardiac, skin potentials, etc.), and temperature (e.g. infrared). Two experiments (n = 20 and n = 41) were conducted to determine whether blindfolded subjects could detect the presence of an menter's hand placed a few inches above one of their hands. A 2 x 2 within subject counterbalanced design (left and right subject's hands by left and right experimenter's hands) was employed. The average correct detections was 66% (chance = 50%, P < .00001). Subject's average estimate of their performance was 54%. Poor and low performance subjects correctly estimated their actual performance, whereas medium and high performance subjects seriously underestimated their performance. However, even for subjects who performed at or below chance, their ratings of confidence per trial were significantly higher for correct versus incorrect trials, suggesting that they had implicit perception of hand-energy. Subjects who spontaneously reported some awareness of temperature (but not tingling or pressure) reported higher overall estimates of performance. Implications for future research on interpersonal hand-energy registration are considered

POSSIBLE PARAPSYCHOLOGICAL RELEVANCE OF HIROSHI MOTOYAMNS AMI MACHINE: A GESP Experiment with Physiological Measurements
Get PDFIn a sample of 30 adult Japanese subjects, a "general extrasensory perception" (GESP) test was conducted using standard ESP cards. The subjects were divided into three categories, average, positive, and negative, according to the number of hits in their GESP runs. We hypothesized (1) to propose that either average or positive runs would show more Ki energy as measured by the AMI instrument, particularly in the gastric, spleen-pancreas, and triple heater meridian. When the data were analyzed using the Student t-test, none were found to have any statistical significance. Hypothesis (2) proposed that all major meridians would show a positive correlation with GESP functioning. This hypothesis was only partially supported as only gastric and spleen-pancreas meridians showed significant values
A PSYCHOLOGICAL AND METAPHYSICAL STUDY OF DR. EDWARD BACH'S FLOWER ESSENCE STRESS FORMULA
Get PDFA traditional psychophysiological stress profiling research paradigm was applied to the study of a flower essence combination (Five-Flower Formula) on the "stress response." A double blind, placebo control group outcome study was conducted, in which 24 subjects were administered either a placebo or the flower essence combination prior to engaging in a Paced Serial Arithmetic Task (PSAT). The impact of the PSAT test on the two groups was assessed using a traditional surface electromyograph, with the electrodes being placed at 6 sites. Two of these sites (frontal and cervical) reflect traditional monitoring sites, but all 6 sites were selected to reflect placement over the Chakras. In addition, the autonomic nervous system (ANS) is monitored by measurement of peripheral hand temperature and skin conductance (GSR) activity. The results of the study indicated that the flower essence group showed a significantly smaller stress response at the cervical (Throat Chakra) site, as well as the T6 paraspinal (Heart Chakra) site. DEFICIENTIEXCESSIVE PATTERNS FOUND IN MERIDIAN FUNCTIONING IN CASES OF LIVER DISEASE
Get PDFThe aim of this study is to investigate whether characteristic patterns of deficiency or excess of Ki energy exist in the Before Polarization (BP) values of the respective meridians measured with the AMI (Apparatus for measuring the Meridian functioning and their corresponding Internal organs) in cases of liver disease. The examinations of deficiency/excessive patterns of each meridian clearly indicated the correlation with each case of liver disease, and seem to be clinically applicable. Two values, raw value and standardized value, are calculated for the BP values at each "well" point. The raw values seem to be more relevant for clinical diagnosis than the standardized value examinations. However, in serious cases of liver disease (liver failure and cancer), the frequency for deficiency is highest in the liver meridian according to the standardized value examination. Therefore, it is desirable to make diagnoses based on the excessive/deficient patterns of raw values in each case of liver disease, referring to standardized values

Get PDFAfter a century of neglect, spirituality is returning to the practice of medicine. Controlled studies in distant healing and intercessory prayer challenge ingrained assumptions of the nature of consciousness and the mind-body relationship. Current evidence suggests that consciousness can both insert information into the environment, and extract information ft-om it. Both these vectors are health-relevant. Although energy-based models of healing may suffice to explain many of the phenomena taking place within the healer and healee, and in the immediate vicinity of each, a genuinely nonlocal, non-energetic framework is necessary to explain how the spatiotemporal gap separating the two is bridged. The implications of nonlocal mind transcend health and illness, and involve the survival of bodily death and immortality.
