ANOMALOUS ORGANIZATION OF RANDOM EVENTS DURING AN INTERNATIONAL QIGONG MEETING: Evidence for Group Consciousness or Accumulated Qi Fields?

Research has documented anomalous organization of random events generated by an electronic random events generator (REG) during various group situations that promote group consciousness experiences. A group situation hypothesized to promote an intense group consciousness experience was an international Qigong conference. Over 2500 invited guests, scientists and practitioners from many countries attended the 1997 International Yan Xin Qigong Practice and Research Conference in New York City on August 30-September 1. Three basic REG predictions were evaluated: (1) the null hypothesis, (2) deviations from randomness would be observed during the days and would disappear during the nights, and (3) deviations from randomness would be observed during the days and continue during the nights (predicted by Chinese scientists YX, ZS, and LS to reflect "accumulating Qi over the entire meeting"). Three days and two nights of FieldREG data were collected prior to, during, and following the conference. During the conference, a total of 234,412 trials of 200 samples per second reflecting I's and 0's (100 I's would be expected to occur by chance per second on the average) were collected using a PEAR computerized FieldREG system and stored for later analysis. When the 3 days and 2 nights were analyzed in terms of trials above versus below 100, each of the five segments showed relative increases (p < .023). These patterns were not observed during the pre and post conference control days and nights. The data provide tentative support for the hypothesis that an intense group experience that continues over a three day period may create a consciousness or Qi field that can be discerned using the Fie1dREG paradigm

One day Dr. Green finished writing a grant proposal concerning the possibility ofdetecting static electrical effects from the body during meditation and during the process of bioenergetic healing. As described in the following paper, this topic was central in his dreams and visions for decades, springing from his study of the esoteric literature and his recognition that electrostatic energies were being used in training chelas (as described in the articles below) perhaps for hundreds ofyears. The very week he completed the grant proposal, he received a phone call on behalf ofJohn Fetzer of the Fetzer Foundation, Kalamazoo, Michigan. Fetzer thought ofthe mind as a 'subtle" radio transmitter and was looking for someone interested in measuring how the mind could be used to affect the world in a similar way a radio transmitter affects a radio. After conversation he asked for Green s grant proposal. This synchronicity led to several years ofscientific efforts studying electrostatic correlates of the body during meditation, and to the eventual selection ofa group of individuals with 'special abilities "-bioenergetic healing and intuitional diagnosis-with whom he conducted laboratory studies. The following three papers describe this work. The first summarizes the history of this work in Dr. Green sown words. rEds.

    THE UNFOLDING SPIRIT IN HEALING

Healing is about relationship and the human connection of heart felt energy. The spiritual task for healing in this new millennium, is about sharing all of our resources and enhancing all aspects of one another's living-locally, nationally and globally. Working with post-war trauma in Kosovo, Yugoslavia, this author's heart opened to a more expansive and compassionate embrace of the world. Interactions between mind, body and spirit are powerful way in which mental, social and spiritual factors directly affect health. Ken Wilber's integral model of consciousness opens up the modern world view to include not only consciousness but spirit as well. His integral vision includes matter, body, mind, soul and spirit, as they appear in Self, Culture and Nature. Our own inner transformative work will lead the way for the world to cooperate for the good of the one whole. Compassionate connection to ourselves and one another allows for true healing to occur

THE EFFECT OF ZERO MAGNETIC FIELDS ON INITIAL GROWTH OF RICE

There has been an explosive resurgence of interest by the scientific community in the effects of very weak extremely low frequency (ELF) electromagnetic fields on biological systems. This paper investigates the special case in which zero magnetic fields (ZMF) are able to cause changes in biological systems through the zero frequency resonance interaction. The study may give an insight to the underlying mechanism of the ELF interactions. On the other hand, the ZMF generated by the cancellation of magnetic fluxes around the non-inductive coil obeys Taiji (Tai Chi) principle, and hence, should create a vital energy Qi according to notions of traditional Chinese medicine. We suggest the existence of Qi playing key role in the ZMF interactions. This study is to accumulate data to explore the ZMF properties in relation to the vital energy Qi. Zero magnetic fields (ZMF) are developed by the use of a non-inductive coil consisting of a crystal. Starting from seed germinations, the lowland paddy rice being exposed to the ZMF has been examined for its initial growth. There are three findings. (1) With a statistical significance of reliability up to 98-99%, an observable change in the rice growth due to the ZMF influence has been demonstrated by measuring the bud and root lengths of the rice; (2) The ZMF acts on the growing rice as a growth promotion or growth acceleration when the condition, such as having enough sunlight, is natural and helpful to the plant development; (3) Conversely, it acts as a growth check or growth delay under bad conditions like no sunlight shining on the rice
