ARE THERE ELECTRICAL DEVICES THAT CAN MEASURE THE BODY'S ENERGY STATE CHANGE TO AN ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENT? Part l, The Meridian Stress Assessment (MSA-21J Device

    Get PDF
The general field of energy medicine is growing strongly but is still in great need of reliable monitoring instruments to assess the relative energetic state of humans with respect to a health/pathology ratio. Two commercial instruments: Bio-Meridian's MSA-21 and Korotkov's GDV were selected for an in-parallel study of the following question, "Can they meaningfully discriminate the effects of acupuncture treatment on the body's energy state?" In this part 1 paper we discuss the results obtained by Bio-Meridian' MSA-21. the experimental design was to determine if the MSA-21 and the GDV could discern a quantifiable difference between an authentic acupuncture session and a sham acupuncture session for 34 subjects. The single research hypothesis was, "If energy is added to andlor redistributed in the body via true acupuncture needling, as contrasted with sham acupuncture needling, a worthy measurement instrument must (at least) be able to discriminate this energy change contrast in a statistically significant fashion." Indeed, the MSA-21 instrument passed this test in good order and provided much useful adjunct information as well

EXAMINING THE VALIDITY OF A COMPUTERIZED CHAKRA MEASURING INSTRUMENT: A Pilot Study

    Get PDF
Context: The chakra system, a complex network of energy vortexes that receive and process energy within the body, has been espoused for centuries in Asian and other cultures to playa fundamental role in the health of individuals. Many illnesses are thought to originate as blocked energy within the chakra system, and are often thought to be caused by unresolved psychological trauma. Recently, instruments have been created to measure chakra functioning, but no studies to date have attempted to determine their validity in accordance with chakra theory. Objective: To determine the validity of the Inneracrive Aura Video System 5.1 (lAV system) by examining the relationship between self reported psychological symptoms and chakra levels. Method: Sixty-four university students, 42 Americans and 22 Jamaicans, volunteered to complete the Symptom Checklist 90-R (SCL-90-R) and the IAV system measuring chakra level functioning. Results: The expected overall negative relationship between chakra levels and psychological symptoms was confirmed. Pearson product moment correlation analysis revealed significant negative correlations between chakra levels and psychological symptoms. Implications for future chakra research are discussed

INCORPORATING HUMAN ENERGY FIELDS INTO FAMILY RESEARCH AND THERAPY

    Get PDF
The study of family interactions has a long tradition from different disciplines and methodologies, but one area ignored is the investigation of human energy fields (HEFs). While the concept has been around for centuries, only recently has it been utilized in Western contemporary practice. Combining emotional expression, family processes, and HEF perspectives, this study was developed to investigate the relationship between emotional expression and HEF interactions in relation to reported closeness between parents and adolescents. The methodology was designed to analyze self-report and observational data on 56 dyads and triads within two-parent families with a high school adolescent. The data were analyzed in terms of simple correlations and a step-wise regression. The findings are discussed along with implications for further research and therapy with adolescents and families

    HEALING THE HEART WITH LOVE

    Get PDF
A sixty year old female, suffering cardiac hypertrophy with mitral and tricuspid valve regurgitation, severe osteoporosis, avascular necrosis in both shoulders, asthma, fibromyalgia, chronic pain and mood disorder has healed by intentional practice: progressive relaxation, connecting with Nature, breathing in healing light and spirit, and breathing out love, light, and compassion to those in distress. At the beginning of treatment, echocardiogram was required every six months to monitor the deterioration of the heart and alert as to when the valves would need to be replaced or repaired. Antibiotics were required as a precaution for any dental work. After nine months of practice, her echocardiogram showed the hypertrophy to be minimal and the regurgitation from the valves to be almost imperceptible. After eighteen months, her cardiologist dismissed her from follow-up care and she no longer needs to take antibiotics during dental work. Bone density scans show a 170% increase. She has been able to reduce her pain and asthma medications. The avascular necrosis in her right shoulder has stabilized and she no longer needs surgery to maintain function of her right arm. With the physical relief, she also has a more positive attitude towards life, feels more balanced and centered and has more energy to give to her family

THE BORDERLINE BETWEEN TWO AREAS OF RESEARCH

Objective: Subtle energy is not measurable by physical means and therefore not widely accepted in modern western science. But if it were, how would that affect the acceptance of claims of being able to sense it? And how would that affect the comprehension of CAM and CAM research? A discussion of this is based on data from a cross-sectional study selected to represent as closely as possible the adult Danish population. It was found that about a third of the population might be able to sense healing energies, radiation from people and the like, in short called ASTSE for “alleged sensitivity to subtle energy”, and that the same third represented most of the reported visits to CAM therapists. The discussion leads to these intriguing results: 1. As the object of the ASTSE is subtle energy, it becomes a sense in its own right. 2. The current research about subtle energy phenomena and CAM is based on research designs suited for physical research, and the basis to believe that these designs are also suited for the area of subtle energy is questionable. 3. We propose in future CAM research to trust observations made by the ASTSE. CAM therapists already do so. 4. There are no objective reasons for people without ASTSE to accept the phenomenon of subtle energy and that ASTSE represents a real sense

STRESS AND ITS ENERGETIC EFFECT IN TEENS

    Get PDF
Numerous studies have confirmed the existence of electromagnetic and proposed subtle energy fields within and around the physical body. Structures such as meridians and chakras associated with these fields have been identified. Experimentation within the past 100 years in particular served to illustrate a vast array of patterns and behaviors of those electromagnetic and subtle energy fields, which in turn, gave rise to theories of energy-based therapies such as acupuncture, homeopathy and hands-on healing. Some practitioners of energy-based medicine such as Caroline Myss, PhD, and Richard Gerber, MD, have directly linked dysfunction of chakras and meridians to the development of illness in the physical body. If a link exists between the behavior of energy in the body and manifestation of physical or psychological distress, it should be possible to demonstrate such an association in a carefully constructed study. This paper describes such a study, in which selected indices of stress were positively correlated with irregular energy flows within the energy systems of a sample of teens. It was hypothesized that when an individual experiences stress, the energy flows in his/her body becomes disorganized and this disorganization is associated with commonly accepted symptoms of physiological and psychological distress. Further, the more disorganized the energy in the body, the greater the number and nature of symptoms. Thirty-two teens, aged 15 to 19 completed a selfadministered questionnaire, an in-depth interview and examination of the body’s energy systems. Though most teens exhibited disorganization in several of their energy systems, some of the teens, who presented the greatest disorganization also exhibited the greatest number of physiological and psychological symptoms. Chi-Square tests showed that a significant relationship exists between self-reported stress level and irregularity in specific energy flows, as well as for energetic irregularity and self-reported mental and physical health ratings. When teens were grouped by the presence (or absence) of Triple Warmer Reactivity and/or Frozen energy, the correlation between physiological or psychological symptoms and energetic irregularity was even more demonstrable. Triple Warmer Reactivity appeared to affect strongly teens’ physical and mental well-being. Assuming a link between the energetic and physical body, intervention at this age with specific techniques to correct energy irregularities could mitigate potential future, physical and mental issues. These results are preliminary and need to be replicated and extended to include objective measures of stress, health and other potentially related variables with a larger sample of teens
