Eco-ELT for environmental research and praxis in ELT

    Get PDF
Global environmental catastrophes affecting present planetary ecosystems necessitate immediate and coordinated actions from all sectors and disciplines, including English language teaching (ELT). ELT shares the responsibilities with other disciplines to address ecological crises like climate change and biodiversity loss. However, environmental research and praxis in ELT lack of movement due to lack of unifying concept. An existing related concept, Eco-ELT, focuses solely on ecocriticism approach in ELT, limiting its scope. In fact, environmental research and praxis in ELT can take many forms, approaches, and models. For that reason, this conceptual article extends the Eco-ELT by elaborating on its philosophical standpoints: ontology, epistemology, and axiology. It also presents the Eco-ELT principle and framework of practice for English teachers, curriculum designers, and policymakers to implement the Eco-ELT intervention in English education. Finally, it elucidates the Eco-ELT research principle and area. These complete elaborations of the Eco-ELT aim to enhance and organize the structure of environmental movement in ELT and advance the contributions of ELT in decolonizing the Earth

Trademark Cancellation of The PT. DIPOSIN in The Principle of Legal Certainty by Sudikno Mertokusumo

    Get PDF
Trademark cancellation can be done by registered trademark owners, such as PT. Pos Indonesia filed a trademark cancellation suit against the DIPOSIN mark because the mark has similarities in principle to the Pos Indonesia mark and its registration was carried out in bad faith. The judge granted the lawsuit for the cancellation of the DIPOSIN mark in part and the cancellation decision was not implemented. So, because of this, there is a legal inconsistency that results in the absence of legal certainty for brand owners who have good intentions. This study aims to discuss the judges\u27 considerations in Decision number 8/Pdt.Sus-HKI/Merek/2020/PN.Niaga.Sby and the application of the principle of legal certainty according to Sudikno Mertokusumo. This research is normative legal research using statutory, conceptual, and case approaches. This research shows that based on Law Number 20 of 2016 concerning Trademarks and Geographical Indications the judge\u27s consideration in Decision Number 8/Pdt.Sus-HKI/Merek/2020/PN.Niaga.Sby is appropriate however, the implementation of the decision to cancel the trademark is not appropriate with what has been set. This decision gave rise to an inconsistency of norms which resulted in the absence of legal certainty for brand owners. According to Sudikno Mertokusumo, for the law to function in a real way, the law must be upheld, because then the law becomes a reality and the law must reflect legal certainty, benefit, and justice

Learning is a process of interaction between students and teachers with learning materials, delivery methods, learning strategies, and learning resources in a learning environment. Usually the Indonesian people know that the learning process is a process that is carried out in schools. However, it\u27s different now. The world has created a new history, including changes in the learning system and order. This is caused by the emergence of كوفيد-19 which requires all forms of activities including learning to be carried out from home, one of which is learning Arabic which involves the role of parents in it. This study aims to describe parental involvement in the process of learning Arabic during the كوفيد-19 pandemic taking place in class III MIS Al Jihad Palangka Raya. This study involved five respondents consisting of two parents (key instrument), Arabic subject teacher, and two students (support instrument). The results of this study can be seen that parents are involved in giving attention by motivating, reminding, and supervising. Become a facilitator who provides textbooks, cellphones, wifi, and includes children in tutoring. Become a mentor or mentor who guides and advises children to be responsible in learning. Become a supervisor who always monitors children\u27s learning activities. Be a motivator who always invites children to study every day, and become a communicator who receives and informs everything related to lessons in the student\u27s Arabic learning process which is carried out from home

The international class in the Islamic Education study program establishes Arabic as a language of instruction in its implementation of learning, yet not all students have good competences in Arabic. Therefore, Arabic learning is an additional program that is taught outside of regular class hours to practice Arabic skills. Thus, this study explained the implementation of the Arabic learning process in the Islamic Education Study Program in the international class carried out for the first semester students. This study used descriptive qualitative. Collecting data in this study was done by conducting observation and documentation based on Miles and Huberman\u27s theory. Data analysis used in this study was based on the process of collecting data, data reduction, and conclusion. The study result shows that Arabic learning becomes one of the programs that helps students to master Arabic. The implementation of learning using Arabic as the language of instruction can be understood by the students and it even facilitates the communication between the students and the teacher to create a more active learning atmosphere
