The implementation of differentiated curriculum (DC) in junior high schools has been gaining momentum in recent years as a means to address the diverse needs of students. However, more information about how English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers perceive this change is needed. This study explored English teachers\u27 attitudes and factors that affected the introduction of DC in junior high schools. Data were collected through DC questionnaire administration and interviews using a mixed-method approach. The quantitative data were statistically analyzed using SPSS 23, while the qualitative data were thematically analyzed. The participants were the EFL teachers who actively participated in the MGMP (Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran, or Subject Teacher Forum) of English Subject at the junior high school level in Batu City, East Java, Indonesia. The findings showed that all participants depicted a positive attitude toward DC implementation. However, they found some support needed from all related parties due to some challenges they met during their attempts to implement DC. This study suggests that EFL teachers\u27 positive attitudes drive increased efforts in successfully implementing DC. However, identified challenges necessitate collaborative support from educators, administrators, and policymakers, including professional development and resource provision, for successful DC integration in EFL classrooms

Despite the growing body of research on corrective feedback in foreign language learning, there remains a gap in understanding the specific strategies utilized by EFL teachers as observed by pre-service teachers firsthand. Based on the observed experiences of EFL pre-service teachers during their observational field teaching practice, this study aims to analyze how English teachers give their corrective feedback. This study employed a qualitative research approach with a case study design. Eleven Indonesian EFL pre-service teachers who had finished their field teaching practice were involved in the study. The qualitative data were gathered using reflective Focus Group Discussions (FGD) and semi-structured interviews. The result of qualitative data analysis revealed three emerging themes of teacher

Text is one of the most important elements for Muslims. It not only acts as a symbol but also a representation of authority that connects family identity among Muslim communities. In the world of pesantren (Islamic boarding schools), ijtihad is one means of reproducing text authority, including in the fiqh mu’amalah. The article aimed to examine the authority of the text in the ijtihad of the fiqh mu’amalah of Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia. The article is the result of normative legal research with a qualitative descriptive research design. Meanwhile, the research objects studied and examined were related to text and authoritative power in the ijtihad of santri (Islamic students) in pesantren (Islamic boarding schools). The study showed that as authoritative power, santri plays a role in transferring the text of the kitab kuning (yellow book) in the discourse of fiqh mu’amalah, both explicitly (qawli) and implicitly (ilhaqi), as legitimacy for the decisions made in the bahsul masail forum. Based on the concept of El-Fadl’s authority, the role of santri as the authoritative power of the text in ijtihad is based on five foundations, honesty and openness, sincerity in understanding "God’s will" in the text, the principle of comprehensiveness, rationalization of interpretation and search for "God’s command," and the ability to self-control in ijtihad. This study recommends that the bahsul masail methodology be preserved, either in the pesantren environment or formal education, affiliated with the pesantren. So, the religious texts are interpreted and read properly according to their context

Madurese society gives privileges and high social status to those who have the title of Hajj. However, research on the Hajj in Madura focused more on the perspective of male Hajj (Ajjhi). In fact, the number of female pilgrims in Madura is higher than the number of males. The research aimed to explain the process of forming gender identity, religious identity, and social identity of Hajj from the perspective of female Hajj (Ebhu Ajjhi) in Madura. The research used qualitative methods, with a phenomenological approach. Data was obtained from observations and in-depth interviews with 16 informants in Bangkalan and Sampang, Madura. Data was analyzed using the Denzin model with a theoretical framework of identity construction, social capital, and symbolic capital. It found that the Hajj title influenced changes in Ebhu Ajjhi\u27s physical and non-physical identity. Physical changes include more conservative clothing, meanwhile non-physical changes include increasing socio-economic-cultural access. Hajj title are also a source of social capital and symbolic capital, growing new networks, building trust and respect. However, the privilege of the title of Hajj in Madura is mainly enjoyed by male Hajj. Traditional gender roles shape different perceptions about Hajj title in Madura. Even though he has the title of Hajj, Ebhu Ajjhi\u27s role are limited to the domestic sphere

The article aims to analyze the internalization of religious moderation values in Pesantren in Central Kalimantan. This article is a qualitative study with a case study approach. The study focuses on three Pesantrens: Pesantren Sabilal Muhtadin in East Kotawaringin, Pesantren Hidayatul Insan in Palangka Raya City, and Pesantren Nahdatus Salam in Kapuas.  Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data collection was conducted from May to October 2024. The data obtained were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman analysis model: data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The data obtained shows that the internalization of religious moderation is rooted in the Pesantren tradition in Central Kalimantan and has been practiced before becoming a strategic program of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in 2019. In this context, the experience of inter-ethnic conflict in 2001 was a background factor in consistently internalizing religious moderation. In addition, internalization is also carried out as a preventive effort from being exposed to extremist movements and intolerant ideology. Internalization efforts are carried out using various strategies that adapt to the socio-cultural setting of each pesantren

Islamic Legal Traditionalism in the Consideration of Polygamous Validation (Analysis of Decisions on the Granting the Validation of Unregistered Marriage in Polygamy Cases After the Enactment of SEMA No. 3/2018)

After the enactment of SEMA No. 3/2018, the issue of unregistered polygamous validation has become a new polemic in religious courts. Decision No. 130/Pdt.G/2020/Ms.Bna and No. 311/Pdr.P/2022/PA.Bjb granted the application for unregistered polygamous validation, thus raising a question, what kind of legal considerations underlie the judges to oppose SEMA No. 3/2018? This study examines the consideration of granting the validation of unregistered polygamy by judges in the two decisions above to find out the typology of Islamic legal thinking in them. This research is a normative legal research with a case approach. The results showed that the judges used the legal doctrine of previous scholars as the basis for granting the application for the validation of unregistered polygamy, thus reflecting a traditional style of thinking. This thinking is evident when: 1) The judge based the validation of the applicant\u27s second marriage only on the validity of the unregistered marriage; 2) The judge did not consider the conditions for the permissibility of polygamy due to emergency conditions; and 3) The judge also did not explore the potential power relations in the polygamy permit from the first wife which allowed for coercion. This research shows that the traditionalism of Islamic legal thought is used by judges to counter the policy of the Supreme Court Circular that has taken effect
