Influence of Parenting Style on Children’s Behaviour
This research determined the influence of parents and theirparenting styles on children’s behavior. The author examineddifferent parenting styles to understand which style leads thechildren to be juvenile delinquent, that ultimately makes thechildren low academic achievers. In this paper, the researcherattempts to bring an original contribution through the identificationof what is missing in the literature thus offering recommendations forfuture research on the role of parents in shaping the future oftheir children. Much research has been done on the role ofparents in shaping the future of their children; however, morecomprehensive research needs to be conducted on the role ofparents and different parenting styles on their children’s behavior. Aqualitative paradigm was preffered using in-depth interviewswith two mothers of children with delinquent behavior. Thefindings revealed that authoritarian parenting style leads thechildren to become rebellious and adopt problematic behaviordue tomore than necessary power exercised on children byparents. In contrast, authoritative parenting style is effective forchildren, as it encourages moderate parenting style. There is ademonstrated need reported in the literature that parents whospend maximum time with their children reduce the probability ofdeveloping delinquent behavior among their children. Spendingmore time together with the adolescents reciprocate throug
Appropriate school starting age: A focus on the cognitive and social development of a child
The early years are the most important in the emotional, social, physical and cognitive development of a child.. A child’s earlyexperiences have an immense impact on the development of his/her physical, emotional and cognitive skills. Therefore, it is veryimportant to understand the kind of environment children need inthe early years for their healthy development and also to understandwhen it is appropriate to begin their schooling in order to optimizetheir social, cognitive and emotional well-being. It is observed thatthe number of formal pre-schools have increased drastically in thepast few years. Children between the ages of one to five are attendingthese pre-schools. This paper attempts to look into the variousresearches conducted to find out how early childhood experiencesaffect children; how their emotional and cognitive developmentoccurs; and most importantly, whether or not starting school at anage earlier than seven years, benefits their academic achievementin the long run. The findings of the various researches indicate thatchildren in the early years need to spend time in free play rather thanin structured and scheduled school environments. This will also helpthem in their future academic success. Thus, starting school earlierthan seven years of age is not beneficial socially or academically inthe long run
Factors Affecting Adoption of Educational Discipline and Satisfaction Level Among Higher Education Students
This study examines the education career change behavior of male and female students. Factors like current trends, own preferences, parental pressure, and career counselors can influence their career adoption. Quantitative method research design was conducted for the study and a sample of 268 students was taken: 145 female and 123 male students, from different public and private universities of Islamabad. Purposive sampling technique was applied for selection as respondents were those who had changed their career path during their educational life. The results showed that current and prevailing trends, one’s own decisions, and career counseling affect the choice and adoption of educational career, but parental influence does not influence education career change decision. Results are nearly similar for both genders, but male are more satisfied with education career change as compared to female respondents
Design a Robust RST Controller for Stabilization of a Tri-Copter UAV
Research on the tri-rotor aerial robot is due to extra efficiency over other UAV’s regarding stability, power and size requirements. We require a controller to achieve 6-Degree Of Freedom (DOF), for such purpose, we propose the RST controller to operate our tri-copter model. A MIMO model of a tri-copter aerial robot is challenged in the area of control engineering. Ninestates of output control dynamics are treated individually. We designed dynamic controllers to stabilize the parameters of an UAV. The resulting system control algorithm is capable of stabilizing our UAV to perform numerous operations autonomously. The estimation and simulation implemented inMATLAB, Simulink to verify the results. All real flight test results are presented to prove the success of the planned control structure
Maximising Bandwdith Efficency of Statistical Multiplexer Architecture using Frame Droping Methods
It is generally considered that remote and rural telephone users generate less traffic as compared to urban area users. This lowers the attraction of investment in rural areas by the telecommunications companies and service providers. The financial implications of wiring a vast area for low telephone traffic causes most telephone service providers to ignore those regions. Still, it is known that telecommunications are essential to the economic development of a region and that traffic increases rapidly as soon as the service is available. A satellite–based telephone network can provide efficient long distance telephone service to remote rural communities at a lower cost than land-based wired networks in most cases. Mobile satellite systems already provide this service, but are limited in capacity and charge high per-minute fees for the satellite link. Small earth stations and GEO satellites can provide this service more efficiently and at lower cost. On top of that, bandwidth efficient multiplexing with compressed speech, Voice Activity Detection (VAD) and Packet discarding methods can even further reduce the cost of service for the users in rural areas. In this paper, Statistical Time Division Multiplexer (STDM) architecture was simulated. Two packet discarding methods, random packet discarding and cyclic packet discarding are used to maximize bandwidth utilization along with VAD. Results indicate that considering monologue speech source, with 80%, activity for each 6.4 kbps sources, on a channel of 64 kbps, 12 users can be allowed to be multiplexed instead of 9, therefore a Digital Speech Interpolation (DSI) advantage of 1.33 is achieved with 3% packet loss. Furthermore, it is observed that cyclic packet discarding technique perform better than random packet discarding in terms of subjective qualit
Worldview-2 and Landsat 8 Satellite Data for Seaweed Mapping along Karachi Coast
Seaweed is a marine plant or algae which has economic value in many parts of the world. The purpose of this study is to evaluate different satellite sensors such as high-resolution WorldView-2 (WV2) satellite data and Landsat 8 30-meter resolution satellite data for mapping seaweed resources along the coastalwaters of Karachi. The continuous monitoring and mapping of this precious marine plant and their breeding sites may not be very efficient and cost effective using traditional survey techniques. Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographical Information System (GIS) can provide economical and more efficient solutions for mapping and monitoring coastal resources quantitatively as well as qualitatively at both temporal and spatial scales. Normalized Difference Vegetation Indices (NDVI) along with the image enhancement techniques were used to delineate seaweed patches in the study area. The coverage area of seaweed estimated with WV-2 and Landsat 8 are presented as GIS maps. A more precise area estimation wasachieved with WV-2 data that shows 15.5Ha (0.155 Km2)of seaweed cover along Karachi coast that is more representative of the field observed data. A much larger area wasestimated with Landsat 8 image (71.28Ha or 0.7128 Km2) that was mainly due to the mixing of seaweed pixels with water pixels. The WV-2 data, due to its better spatial resolution than Landsat 8, have proven to be more useful than Landsat8 in mapping seaweed patche
Relationship Between Faculty’s Self Actualization and Student’s Faculty Evaluation: A Case-study
The objective of this research is to find, if there exists some correlation between self actualization scores of faculty with student’s faculty’s evaluation scores.. The study is based upon the instrument that measures self actualization score, a questionnaire designed by Dr. Richard Boyum and the standard student’s feedback proforma. The faculty’s self actualization and student’s evaluation scores are compared using regression and correlation analysis, a scatter dot diagram is also used for the same purpose. The result concludes, that no significant correlation exists between faculty’s self actualization level and student’s faculty’s evaluation. Whereas separate analysis of surveys concludes that senior faculty (Senior Fellows and Head of Academic departments) are higher self actualized than younger faculty and students. The study recommends that faculty evaluation should be summation of student’s, peer, self and management’s evaluation. Also, while hiring a new faculty, self actualization level should also be a criteria for selection. The young faculty level of self actualization can improve with support and better environment
Impact of Mergers on Performance of Banking Sector of Pakistan
This study empirically examines the impact of mergers on performance of the banks in Pakistan. The link between liquidity risk, leverage, capital adequacy, size and performance of merging banks, listed on Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE), which executed at least one merger during 2006-2010 has been discovered using Dougherty model. Moreover, paired t-test has been employed to compare three year pre and post-merger performance of each bank. StataSE Version12, SPSS Version 16 and Microsoft Office Excel 2007 have been used to analyze the data. Regression results show an insignificant impact of mergers on performance of banks and t-test proves that performance of each bidder bank has not improved significantly after mergers
PROPOSED MERGER AND EXECUTED MERGER: WHICH ANNOUNCEMENT IS MORE INFLUENTIAL IN SHARE PRICING?
The objective of this study is to examine the effect of merger announcements on the share prices of acquiring firms listed at The Karachi Stock Exchange. A sample of 13 merger announcements during year 2000 to 2012 is taken. Two types of merger announcements have been bracketed; one is proposed merger and the other is executed merger. In order to examine the effect of merger announcements on share prices, event study methodology is used. Market model is used to calculate abnormal returns. Moreover t-test is applied to test the significance of abnormal returns. On the basis of result, it is concluded that both types of merger announcement affect the share prices of acquiring firm. However, market reaction to these announcements is not immediate
Relationship of Cash Conversion Cycle with Firm Size, Working Capital Approaches and Firm’s Profitability: A Case of Pakistani Industries
This study is aimed to analyze the comparative performance management of different industrial groups at single time scale from multiple perspectives. The study investigates the relationship between the length of CCC, firm size, firm profitability and aggressive/conservative Working Capital policies of 12 industrial groups. Descriptive analysis, Pearson correlation and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with post-hoc test (Least Significant Differences) have been used for empirical investigation. The data is collected from the financial statements of the 157 public limited companies listed in the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) for the year 2009. It is found that significant differences lie among the mean values of CCC across the Industries and more specifically, Oil and Gas industry is significantly different from all the other industries in term of its length of CCC. Findings of the study show that there is a significant and positive relationship between firms’ aggressive investing policies and conservative financing policies. It is concluded that length of CCC has negative relationship with sales revenue, return on equity (ROE) and financing policies of the firms and has positive relationship with total assets, return on assets (ROA) and investing policies of firms. The practical implications of this study are for the management of the firms to consider the importance of the length of CCC in formulating their policies because the length of CCC is closely related to aggressive/conservative Working Capital approaches of firms. This is the first study of its nature conducted in Pakistan so far which has taken into account all these variables simultaneously and tried to investigate their relationship with each other
