Head Teachers and Teachers as Pioneers in Facilitating Dyslexic Children in Primary Mainstream Schools
This study explores the perceptions of school heads and teachers in facilitating young dyslexic children in primary mainstream schools of Pakistan. Through purposive sampling, the researcher selected eight participants: Four primary school heads and four primary teachers from elite schools of Karachi. The research instrument selected for this study was in-depth interviews to get a deeper insight of school heads and teachers perceptions regarding the facilitation of dyslexic children. The findings revealed that children with dyslexia face many emotional and academic problems and only a few elite schools provide policy to facilitate them in mainstream education. Findings showed that some schools hired remedial teaching services or special education services and the school heads and primary teachers put in immense effort in preparing intervention plans and evaluation plans to suit individual and young dyslexic children needs. It was also suggested that positivity of the learning environment depends upon the teachers. The findings further disclosed that unlike the more developed nations, apart from a few elite schools in Pakistan, there is no importance paid to professional training related to dyslexia
Review of Indexing Techniques Applied in Information Retrieval
Indexing is one of the important tasks of Information Retrieval that can be applied to any form of data, generated from the web, databases, etc. As the size of corpora increases, indexing becomes too time consuming and labor intensive, therefore, the introduction of computer aided indexer. A review of indexing techniques, both human and automatic indexing has been done in this paper. This paper gives an outline of the use of automatic indexing by discussing various hashing techniques including fuzzy finger printing and locality-sensitive hashing. Two different processes of matching that are used in automatic subject indexing are also reviewed. Accepting the need of automatic indexing in a possible replacement to manual indexing, studies in the development of automatic indexing tools must continu
New Exact Solutions of Steady Plane Flows of an In Compressible Fluid of Variable Viscosity
Some new exact solutions to the equations governing the steady plane motion of an in compressible fluid of variable viscosity for the chosen form of the vorticity distribution are determined by using transformation technique. In this case the vorticity distribution is proportional to the stream function perturbed by the product of a uniform stream and an exponential strea
SERVICE QUALITY DIMENSIONS AND ITS IMPACT ON CUSTOMER’S BEHAVIORAL INTENTIONS
The market of life Insurance has obtained considerabledevelopment with respect to awareness about insurance, terrorism, target killing, and uncertainty in world. In 2014-15, the growth ratewas 29% that showed life Insurance market has a key contribution inPakistan’s economy. The core rationale of this research is toinvestigate the services quality aspects and its influence on corporatecustomer’s behavioral intentions. This research has two objectivesfirst; determine the perceptions of corporate customers concerningthe quality service of group life insurance. Second, is to examine thebehavioral intentions of corporate customers with respect to numerousaspects of service quality. About 218 responses from corporatecustomers are gathered with the help of structured questionnairesand by using simple random sampling method. The major antecedents’of behavioral intentions are personalized competence and planning.Conversely, in this study, assurance is not found as a predictor ofbehavioral intention of corporate customers. This is first study in theperspective of group life insurance in Asia as well as in the context ofdeveloping country
MEASURING THE EFFECT OF PRODUCT PLACEMENT STRATEGY ON ATTITUDINAL ASPECTS
Conventional advertisements due to its over exposure arelosing their effectiveness; consequently product placement strategy is becoming a popular marketing tool. The aim of this paper is to ascertain the influence of predictors variable “product placement” on dependent variables (“brand recall, purchase intention and brand loyalty”. This study has a sample of 300 respondents who were selected via Mall intercept method. The data was evaluated through a multiple steps procedure and the overall model tested through SEM. The model was able to successfully explain who consumer’s reacts on productplacement strategy. The results were consistent with the earlierliterature, and all the three hypotheses failed to be rejected. Thisstudy revealed that the strongest effect of product placement was on brand loyalty. Purchase intention and brand recall also significantly affect product placements
NON-FINANCIAL INCENTIVE SYSTEM AND ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT: AN EMPIRICAL INVESTIGATION
Financial rewards have high significance in motivatinghuman resources as well as making them committed. Hence, the focusof this research is on the impact of Non-Financial Incentives onOrganizational Commitment. The methodology used in this study is asurvey of 175 employees from 20 companies that were selectedrandomly from the population i.e. Food and Beverage industry ofPakistan. Statistical tools used for testing the hypotheses that weredeveloped on the basis of literature review, were spearman’s rhocorrelation and regression. Results show that job-related incentivesrelatively play significant role in instigating organizationalcommitment among employees in an organization
RISK OR SENTIMENT: VALUE AND SIZE PREMIUM UNDER TERRORISM
This study aims to identify the effect of terrorism on size andvalue premium using value weighted monthly returns for non-financialfirms from January 2001 to December 2010. In addition to independentsize and BE/ME (book equity to market equity) sorted portfolios, twodimensional portfolio formation methodology of Dimson, Nagel, andQuigley is used. The results reveal that market, size, value premiumand terrorism have a significant positive impact on stock returns. Thestudy further suggests that value and size premiums are dependent onthe psychological impact created by terrorist attack. Findings suggestthat the return on small stocks is higher than the returns on largestocks and the size premium occurs mainly during the months of higherterrorism activities. In contrast, value premium is more profoundduring the months of low (high) terrorist activities for portfolios sortedon one (two) dimension. This indicates that both size and BE/MEpremiums are affected by investor sentimen
LEADERSHIP STYLES AS PREDICTORS OF DECISION MAKING STYLES AMONG TOP, MIDDLE AND LOWER MANAGERS
The present study examined the role of transformational, transactional, and laissez-faire leadership style on prediction ofrational, intuitive, dependent, avoidant, and spontaneous decisionmaking style. Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire and GeneralDecision Making Style Questionnaire were administered on apurposive sample of 300 top, middle, and lower level bankmanagers. Multiple regression analysis demonstrated thattransformational leadership style positively predicted rational stylewhereas, negatively predicted dependent and avoidant styles.Transactional style positively predicted intuitive, dependent andavoidant style. Laissez-faire style positively predicted intuitive, dependent, and avoidant style and negatively predicted rationalstyle. Finally, Leadership styles displayed non-significant effect onspontaneous style. The study was grounded in theory and it hasboth theoretical value and applied significance in the moderncorporate sector
