    Get PDF
Interest rate today is the most frequently used tool of monetarypolicy. Mainstream economists think that by increasing the interestrate, inflation can be reduced, and this provides the basis ofcontemporary monetary policy. However there is evidence againstthis theory. In this study, use the data of large number of Islamic andnon-Islamic countries. We apply sophisticated econometric techniquesincluding Granger Causality and VECM to explore the relationshipbetween interest rate and prices. We find that the relationship betweenthe two variables is positive but insignificant, showing the failure ofinterest rate as a monetary policy tool

In this paper we investigated the role of gold prices, interestrate and exchange rate against inflation in Pakistan both in the longand the short run, utilizing time series data over the period of 1975-2013 under the Johansen co-integration and vector error correctionspecifications. The results suggest that gold prices and interest rateare significantly positively related with inflation in the long run inthe case of Pakistan, indicating that a rise in gold prices and interestwill result in increase in inflation in Pakistan. Whereas exchangerate is found to be insignificant to impact inflation over the length ofthis study. However exchange rate is found to have significantly andnegatively associated with inflation in the short run. That means thatappreciation in rupee (PKR) will result in decrease in inflation andvice versa

The paper proposes a model for performance based Succession Planning(SP) and Performance Appraisals (PA) on the basis of ordinal scale of measurements using expert opinion in terms of linguistic variables such as excellent performance high performance, Moderate and poor performance. The model presented in this paper is an attempt to help organizations in identifying and developing successors for the key position using data gathered through performance appraisals that will help in evaluating the performance of an employee using specific performance appraisals criteria. The proposed model will be beneficial for organizations in strategically identifying and developing required talent pool within the organization for internal promotions through performance appraisal reviews and competency assessments using fuzzy logic, multi valued evaluation model
