A Comparison of Strain Deformation Mechanism of Al, Mo, MgO & CaO in Harper-Dorn Creep
Harper-Dorn creep Mechanism is studied for Al, Mo, MgO and CaO. The normalized grain size for each material is compared by using Langdon-Mohamed Type deformation mechanism maps [7]. Al is an F.C.C. metal, Mo is a B.C.C. metal, whereas CaO and MgO are non-metallic oxides, they all have different physical properties and hence this case study has a wide range of spectru
A Comparative Study of Consumer Perception of Product Quality: Chinese versus Non-Chinese Products
Product quality is a critical determinant of consumer satisfaction. The demand for a product depends upon the quality that a manufacturer is providing to their consumers. China, which is a growing economic power, exports its manufactured goods to the entire global markets. Chinese goods have been successful to capture market because of its competitive price strategy as compared to the products of other countries. The major problem with the Chinese products is that these are perceived as of relatively inferior quality in comparison to the products of other countries. This study is an attempt to assess the perceptions of customers regarding price and quality aspects of Chinese and non Chinese products. To compare the relative effectiveness of price and quality, the concepts of perceived life and perceived value are used. It is found that the Chinese products are perceived as price effective but the area of product quality requires immediate attention because Chinese products are perceived as of low qualit
Do local and global macroeconomic variables help forecast volatility of Pakistani stock market?
Emerging markets are characterized by higher volatility and higher associated returns as compared to developed markets. The excessive volatility in emerging markets is often considered a result of inherent instability and unpredictability of country’s political, institutional and macroeconomic environment. Increasing globalization and integration of financial markets imply that volatility of emerging markets may also be affected by global macroeconomic and business conditions. We investigate this issue for an emerging market namely Pakistan. An important objective of this research is to provide empirical evidence on whether local and global macroeconomic variables help forecast volatility of this market over and above the GARCH models which predict volatility on the basis of past shocks and past accumulated variance. Using monthly data over the post liberalization period from early 1990 to 2010 we show that global variables have higher explanatory power to affect Pakistani stock market volatility compared to the global information variables
Implementing TQM practices in Pakistani Higher Education Institutions
Implementing TQM practices at the Higher Educational Institutions of Pakistan, especially at the business schools, is relatively a new concept and it is in its initial stages. The theoretical framework of this study is based upon the instrument that measures the extent of TQM implementation in Higher Education Institutions. Based upon literature review, the framework having 14 dimensions is used in this study. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) extracted 13 factors as the determinants of TQM Implementation in business schools of Pakistan such as Stakeholders’ Focus, Recognition and Reward, Measurement and Evaluation, Process Control and Improvement, Resources, Leadership, Empowerment are some of the main factors as each of these factors are explaining more than 5% of the variation in the dat
Survival Analysis of Tumor using 7 Tesla MRI
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI7) is a very powerful imaging technique for the assessment of stroke aetiology (Condition) and brain imaging. Another class of MRI is ultrahigh frequency based MRI using 7 Tesla is now developed by seamen’s for better imaging in humans. This study examines these MRI. Thisarticle highlights an alternative approach, denoted “interval monitoring,” whose aims is related with more timely detection of tumor cancer changes. The conceptual background and the computational realization of the proposed method are outlined, and its application is illustrated by an empirical example from the image-based photo science, cancer registry of America. Monitoring of cancer patient survival is the first step of its cure so across the globe practice routinely employed by many cancer registries, which is an essential component for its cure. However, changes in prognosis over time are disclosed withconsiderable delay, with traditional methods of monitoring cumulative survival. Our study took sequence of MRI images, GMPLS function locate the cancer after filtering and skeletonization. This study saves time and difference for calculation of cancer equation. This study uses statistical technique to get the desired matrix, further its inverse provides us real time mathematical equation which is unique for each patient. Further survivor analysis is employed to achieve the break or death of subject. The Aim of this research is to provide unique mathematical model of a cancer patient, provides real time graph aboutcancer health and survivor function depicts the death of subject respectively
SMEs BUSINESS GROWTH MODEL AND THE MEDIATING ROLE OF MARKET ORIENTATION
SMEs business growth is a central point for their success.Literature suggests different factors which inculcate smallerenterprises to grow but a tripod of three factors: reward system, decentralization of organization and owners’ attitude with amediating effect of market orientation have not been addressed. This study addresses the internal factors that contribute to the growthof SMEs with a mediating effect of market orientation. Data iscollected using survey method from Pakistani SMEs. The study arguesthat a significant potential lies in smaller enterprises to grow byadopting stated factors if firms are market oriente
INVESTIGATING INTERNAL MARKETING PRACTICES IN BANKS: AN APPLICATION OF MULTIVARITATE STATISTICAL ANALYSIS
The aim of this research is to test the validity of thedimensions of internal marketing and its impact on the performance of an organization. Internal marketing is a process in which employees are treated as internal customers and jobs are treated as products. A non-probabilistic sampling technique comprising of a hundred customers and a hundred commercial bank employees was used to take a sample for this research. Study setting was non-contrived; data collection method was primary through two structured questionnaires: one for the employees and the other for customers.Factor analysis was used to find out the underlyingdimensions ofinternal marketing and to check the validity of construct. MLR wasused to test the hypotheses. The result revealed that out of sixindependent variables: motivation, strategic reward, training, understanding and differentiation, had significant while interfunctional coordination, and dissemination of information had insignificant causal relationship with organizational performance
DRIVERS OF ENERGY INTENSITY IN PAKISTAN: AN ASSESSMENT USING INDEX DECOMPOSITION METHODS
We employ index decomposition techniques to decomposeaggregate energy consumption into energy intensity, efficiency andstructural change indices for Pakistan. Data suggests that energyinefficiencies play a prominent role in increasing energy intensitywhile structural changes cause small reduction in intensity index.Partial adjustment model was applied to investigate underlying forcesof energy intensity and its components. Results illustrate that energyprices and capital-labor ratio have significant effect in reducing energyintensity through efficiency channel whereas; income predominantlyincreases energy intensity through inefficient energy use. Extensivepolicy intervention is required through implementing energy intensityreduction targets for efficient energy use
FIRM’S WILLINGNESS TO CANNIBALIZE ON BRAND LOYALTY WITH CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AS MODERATING VARIABLE
The purpose of this research paper is to investigate the influenceof a firm’s willingness to cannibalize on consumer brand loyalty, withcustomer satisfaction as a moderating variable. The subjects of thisstudy are cell phone consumers. The sample was surveyed with thehelp of a structured questionnaire. A total of 600 questionnaireswere distributed from which only 475 questionnaires were returnedwhile only 450 questionnaires turned out to be fit for analysis. Resultssuggest that there is a significant positive effect of ‘firm’s willingnessto cannibalize’ and ‘customer satisfaction’ on brand loyalty. Thepresumed moderator – customer satisfaction, however has only aslight positive effect on the relationship between firm’s willingness tocannibalize (predictor) and brand loyalty (outcome variable). Ascompared to other cell phone brands, Nokia and Samsung implementmore cannibalizing techniques, i.e. they are more willing to sacrificemarket share of old products to launch new products as a step towardsgreater satisfaction and enhancing brand loyalty of their customersand strengthen their overall market share
