It also investigates the quality and comfort offered across different classes of rides along with the prevalence of problem experienced by the rider in each class. It is concluded that Taxi Booking or Ride sharing applications in Karachi tend to exhibit various patterns and problems across different classes and frequency of rides. It is empirically verif ied that Business class is less disposed to diff iculties and glitches, which is an extra-advantage of Business class. However, the user experience of business class is not signif icantly different from the economy, which indicates that quality is not up to the mark. The level of comfort decreases with the frequency of rides, which means that it there is no cross-subsidy behaviour

Implementation of Microsoft SQL Server using ‘AlwaysOn’ for High Availability and Disaster Recovery without Shared Storage

It is important for any organization to handle increase in data; normally this is the job of the DBA in organization to take care of this data growth, along with its protection and its availability.  High availability of data is also most important for organizations, for that purpose, shared storage is usually the solution, for example, SAN or NAS storage as Microsoft Cluster Database instances. Mostly Organization does not have shared storage in their infrastructure, which was required for Microsoft cluster SQL database instance; due to that they used other native methods to implement like log shipping or database mirroring, which was not efficient method for high-availability and disaster-recovery solution.  After that, Microsoft introduced native method called SQL AlwaysOn method that could be implemented without using SAN and NAS storage method to implement high availability and disaster recovery without using shared storage.  SQL AlwaysOn option is using only Microsoft cluster service and shared folder between the nodes. This paper written for DBA and System Administrators; and is implementation of Microsoft SQL Database tier step by step

This case study aimed at shedding light on the new emerging trends of business observed in the Asian region. Today, big multinationals are learning from Asia and applying best practices, developed in this continent, in their operations worldwide spanning from USA, South America and Europe. In particular, this case study paid focus on the strategy adopted by Timothy Charles Parker, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Samsonite International S.A, incorporated in March 2011. It also focused on the turnaround strategy applied by him for the Samsonite (Luggage Company). Charles Parker is a man with a reputation for turning around companies from losses to prof itability. He was put in charge by the Board to revive Samsonite that was continuously losing its strength and market share in the year of 2009. From this perspective, this study tried to explore the methodology adopted by Timothy Charles Parker to successfully revive the company. It is also noteworthy to note how Timothy Charles Parker paid careful attention to the integration strategy by Ramesh Tainwala in India to support the Samsonite operations in American and European operations. Furthermore, Asian region was also used for tapping funds from the stock market because of damage to the brand equity of Samsonite in the developed markets. Within the period of merely seven years, Samsonite is now one of the most thriving and successful luggage companies in the world and its share is most sought after in Hong Kong stock market. Based on the studies case, it can be recommended that management practices developed in Asian region can also be adopted in order to revive

Automatic Speaker Identification System for Urdu Speech

Speaker recognition is the process of recognizing a speaker from a verbal phrase. Such systems generally operates in two ways: to identify a speaker or to verify speaker’s claimed identity. Availability of valuable research material witnessed efforts paid to Automatic Speaker Identification (ASI) in East Asian, English and European languages. But unfortunately languages of South Asia especially “Urdu” have got very less attention. This paper aims to describe a new feature set for ASI in Urdu speech, achieving improved performance than baseline systems. Classifiers like Neural Net, Naïve Bayes and K nearest neighbor (K-NN) have been used for modeling. Results are provided on the dataset of 40 speakers with 82% correct identification. Lastly, improvement in system performance is also reported by changing number of recordings per speaker

The modern time is shaping a world of opportunities that has glorified the roleand functions of multinational organizations across the globe. An individual hasbecome a global citizen, who explores employment opportunities in differentcountries of the world. This has signified the importance of interpersonal skills that allow individuals to connect with people from different cultures. As a result, the role of business communication instructors has become vital because they impart the skills of communication among their students. For this, instructors’ sensitivity towards the teaching methods used in classrooms are of prime significance. These methods determine the interest level and motivation of students towards learning and acquisition of communication skills. Therefore, this study aims to compare experiential learning method and traditional learning method to explore which method inculcates and improves the communication skills of business administration students of a private sector university. The study was conducted in a quantitative paradigm using an experimental research design. The sample size comprised 60 BBA students from two different sections of business communication courses. The data were collected using a pretest and posttest. For the pretest, communication skills were imparted to both the groups using the traditional teaching method that heavily employed lecturing. For the posttest, the controlled group was taught using the same traditional teaching method while the treatment group was taught using the experiential learning method. Mean scores 20.46 & 19.90 with a significant value of 0.375 for the pretest established identical nature of both groups. Mean scores 27.80 & 30.36 with a significant value of .002 of posttest showed that the two groups under study had different identities in scores, which proved that experiential learning method improves students’ communication skills better than traditional communication skills. Keywords: business communication, experiential learning, experimental research, traditional learnin

In this study finite difference method (FDM) is used with Dirichlet boundary conditions on rectangular domain to solve the 2D Laplace equation. The chosen body is elliptical, which is discretized into square grids. The finite difference method is applied for numerical differentiation of the observed example of rectangular domain with Dirichlet boundary conditions. The obtained numerical results arecompared with analytical solution. The obtained results show the efficiency of the FDM and settled with the obtained exact solution. The study objective is to check the accuracy of FDM for the numerical solutions of elliptical bodies of 2D Laplace equations. The study contributes to find the heat (temperature) distribution inside a regular rectangular elliptical discretized body
