Dealing with Gender Disparity in Educational Setting: A Case of Primary Schools in a Karachi’s Town
The significant factors for the increased gender disparity within Pakistan are the parental unequal treatment towards the different genders of their children, girls, and boys under normal routine. Furthermore, societal aspirations can also be stated as the leading cause of gender disparity. This study aimed to focus on addressing the area of gender disparity in primary school education in the country. Employing an in-depth analysis method, semi-structured interviews were conducted from the parents living in Landhi Town, having two or more male and female children aged between five and ten years. Several themes and sub-themes, supposed to be the leading factors for gender disparity in the country, emerged in the result of data analysis gathered via the interviews. The most significant identified factors include poverty, school proximity, security issues, social issues and perception of parents regarding the importance of girls’ education. Therefore, policy makers and educationists are recommended to pay attention to parental awareness programs and the social issues associated with gender disparity in primary education
Performance Evaluation of a Novel Wearable HIS Patch Antenna for Mobile Applications
In this paper an artificial magnetic material known as High Impedance Surface (HIS) is used for the performance evaluation and design of wearable patch antenna. HIS is actually a new type of ground plane that has considerably high surface impedance. Hence surface wave propagation on the ground plane is not supported. The use of HIS is now rapidly increasing due to its improved performance. In this paper, HIS is introduced with a new type of feeding technique known as line feeding technique at an operating frequency of 5.1 GHz and the antenna parameters evaluated here are Gain, Antenna efficiency and radiation efficiency. These parameters are improved to 15.54%, 28.84% and 3.4% respectivel

A firm should carefully selectthe celebrity to endorse its brand for effective communication ofthe message and positive response from the consumers
EXPLORING THE MEDIATING ROLE OF AFFECTIVE COMMITMENT ON ORGANIZATIONAL JUSTICE AND TURNOVER INTENTION
This study encompasses the association of the three domainsof organizational justice and its influence on employee turnoverintention. In this cross-sectional study, proportionate stratifiedrandom sampling technique was applied. Results showed thatdistributive justice and interactional justice have an inverserelationship with turnover intention and affective commitmentpartially mediated the pathway between the dimensions of justiceand employee turnover behavior. Conversely, procedural justice hasan insignificant linkage with the turnover intention. This studycontributes by developing an understanding of linkage betweenturnover intention and organizational justice and provides insightabout mediation of affective commitment
Role of Employee Training in Enhancing Perceived Performance through competencies in Services Industry- A Study of Pakistani Banking Sector
Background: Employee Training is one of the leading contemporary human resource aspects, it is perfect approach leading towards effective employee development and is used as renowned technique for creating new leaders and enriching employee’s skills. Training is nowadays a no-way-option for almost all organizations. Training acts crucially at dual dimensions; it enhances employee performance and works on organizational development. This study plans to evaluate the role of training and training design and delivery towards the employee competencies leading to employee’s perceived performance in banking sector. Methodology: It is quantitative research with post-positivist approach. Data was collected from 152 bankers from different banks in Karachi through a survey questionnaire. Data was analyzed by applying descriptive analysis and statistical tests. Results: Results revealed that there exists substantial relationship between (IV-1) On-Job-Training, (IV-2) Training Design and Delivery and (DV) Perceived Performance, although (IV-3) Off-Job-Training proved as weak predictor. The study produced useful information for future researches
Impact of bank withdrawals taxation on cash holdings, interest rates, inflation and bank deposits: Empirical evidence from Pakistan
To avoid debt burdens and to meet budgetary expenditure within internal resources leads to introduction of bank withdrawal taxation in Pakistan. The research has been carried out to empirically investigate the impact of bank withdrawal taxation on cash holdings, bank deposits, inflation, borrowing and lending rates. The withdrawal taxation was imposed in 2006 therefore the study analysis period has been from 2006 to 2014. The complex relationship among variables leads to analyze the data through VAR. The empirical findings through Vector auto regression (VAR) and impulse response suggests the presence of disintermediation in Pakistani economy. The disintermediation in the economy is captured through the study findings that there is increase in the cash holdings during the study period and reduction in bank deposits. The monetary variables such as inflation, borrowing and lending rates are reduced due to imposition of bank withdrawal taxation
English for Specific Purposes: Designing an EAP Course for Computer Science Students
The aim of this study was to design English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course for University students enrolled in the Computer Science Department. For this purpose, academic English language needs of the students were analyzed by using a 5 point Likert scale questionnaire. Additionally, interviews were also conducted with four faculty members of the department and the data were analyzed qualitatively. Thus, mixed methods were used for collection and analyses of data. The results of the analysis of questionnaire and interviews indicate that the four language skills, namely listening, speaking, reading and writing are frequently used in students’ academic context and among the four, speaking is the most frequently used skill. Students are deficient in writing and speaking skills as compared to listening and reading; therefore, speaking and writing should be given preference while designing the syllabus
Comparative Analysis of E–Shape and H-Shape Microstrip Slotted Antenna on the Basis of Return Loss and Bandwidth
icro-strip patch antenna is more popular as compared to other antennas and widely used today in modern wireless communication system because of its elegant weight, low fabrication price, easy to feed, ease to fabricate, easy to analyze, and attractive radiation characteristics. Though patch antennahas several advantages but has some disadvantages as well, like limited bandwidth and low gain. In last few years, Different techniques such as Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) structure, artificial magnetic conductor (AMC)/ and modifying the structure of microstrip patch antenna are used to overcome the above mentioned limitations. In this paper, we propose two different geometry shape antennas i.e. E and H-shaped which is developed from the rectangular patch and compare the performance of the proposed antennas on the basis of gain and Bandwidth with the same physical dimensions. The CST Micro studio simulator is used to study the antennas. Bandwidth and Return loss of E-shaped Antenna is much better than that of H-shaped antenna. The results obtained clearly demonstrations that, the implementation of the E-Shape is much better in term of bandwidth and return loss compared to the H-shaped patch antenna. So it’s better to use E-shaped antenna for modern wireless communication system
From Mutualized Exchange to Investor-Owned Demutualized Entity: The Case of Pakistan Stock Exchange
This study provides an overview of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) journey from not-for-profit mutually owned company to the for-profit demutualized entity. The wave of demutualization and public listing of stock markets around the globe is being witnessed for the last three decades. This study focuses on three main areas. First, in 2012, the stock market stood corporatized and demutualized as a public company limited by shares. Prior to 2012, the PSX (formerly called Karachi stock exchange) was a broker-owned company. The three national stock exchanges of Pakistan merged together to form PSX in January 2016. Moreover, the 40% strategic ownership of PSX is transferred to the Chinese investors. The Pakistan stock market is listed on its own exchange from June 29, 2017 (self-listing) following the IPO process. Second, this study discusses the reasons for demutualization, such as investment in technology and global competition; and regulatory implications of for-profit demutualized exchange. Lastly, selected market efficiency indicators are compared before and after integration to assess the benefit of demutualization. On a positive note, so far, the market witnessed higher liquidity, less excessive volatility, and better returns for investors in the post-merger period compared to pre-merger period
