Effects of light and temperature on the growth of Leptolyngbya sp., an estuarine Cyanobacterium from Colombia, under Laboratory Conditions
Get PDFCyanobacteria are groups of microalgae with high ecological importance and have gained relevance due to commercial interest for their nutritional and health value. This research analyzed the growth in strain of Leptolyngbya sp. under different combinations of light and temperature conditions. Here, we present an approach of bioprospecting-based study in the Gulf of Urabá, Caribbean Colombia where fifteen different morphologies of cyanobacteria were observed among all collected samples, but after several months of culture and isolation treatment Leptolyngbya sp. was detected. Several freshwater and salty culture media both solid and liquid were inoculated by diluting the sample every 15 days of culture, a new set of serial dilutions was done to obtain isolated strains. Results indicated that illumination with a green wavelength provides higher biomass and protein content in culture if it is grown at 28 °C. A temperature of 35 °C was observed to be detrimental to culture, presenting lower biomass (<50%), yields and protein percentages at all wavelengths. According to protein percentage (60%), blue light in cultures grown at 28 °C was disadvantageous, as were all of the other lights in cultures grown at 35 °C. Moreover, results regarding the evaluation of temperature and light effects over Leptolyngbya sp. biomass and protein yield revealed that play a role on these responsible variables. These biomolecules found have multiple applications in different fields from bioactive compounds to metabolites with industrial, pharmaceutical and ecological uses. Empresa y ambiente: consideraciones sobre “crecimiento económico y contaminación ambiental”
Get PDFThe relationship between economic growth and environmental pollution is considered one of the most important empirical relationships in environmental economics. There is a tendency to assume that the greater the economic activity, the greater the energy consumption and therefore the greater the pollution. Taking this relationship into account, the purpose of this research is to analyze the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) considering the opinion of experts in sustainability, who were consulted about the arguments that support the EKC hypothesis, and its applicability in Latin American countries. The results obtained, through a Delphi with 28 experts, do not fully confirm the hypothetical relationship proposed by the EKC, therefore, it is concluded that it is important to continue delving into this topic. On the other hand, it is highlighted that if there is no investment aimed at the severe application of environmental measures, the levels of pollution due to CO2 emissions will increase excessively.La relación entre crecimiento económico y contaminación ambiental es considerada una de las relaciones empíricas más importantes en la economía ambiental; existe la tendencia a suponer que, a mayor actividad económica, existirá mayor consumo de energía y por lo tanto mayor contaminación. Tomando en cuenta esta relación, el propósito de esta investigación es analizar la curva Ambiental de Kuznets (CAK) considerando la opinión de expertos en sostenibilidad, a quienes se les consultó sobre los argumentos que sirven de soporte a la hipótesis de la CAK, y su aplicabilidad en países de América Latina. Los resultados obtenidos, mediante un Delphi con 28 expertos, no confirman completamente la relación hipotética planteada por la CAK, por lo tanto, se concluye en la importancia de continuar profundizando sobre este tema. Por otra parte, se resalta que, de no darse ninguna inversión que apunte a la aplicación severa de medidas ambientales, los niveles de contaminación por emisiones de CO2 se incrementarán excesivamente

Get PDFLegal hermeneutics, as a discipline that studies the interpretation of legal norms, plays a crucial role in the judicial process and in the effective application of law. It has been seen throughout history how the interpretation of the law can cause injustices in the law, that is why the main objective is to analyze the paradigms of legal hermeneutics in the context of the application of norms and the administration of justice. For this research, a descriptive, legal approach was used, and interviews were conducted with knowledgeable professors in the area of legal theory from several universities in the city of Barranquilla. It is necessary to highlight that, particularly, one teacher denied the existence of an essence of law and the opinions on several topics varied, however the objective was partially met since several hermeneutical paradigms and their influence on the administration of justice were analyzed, it was highlighted the importance of interpretation beyond the literality of the norm and the subjects conclude that there are multiple interpretations in the law, also reflected in the labor of the judge.La hermenéutica jurídica, como disciplina que estudia la interpretación de las normas legales, desempeña un papel crucial en el proceso judicial y en la aplicación efectiva del derecho. A lo largo de la historia se ha visto cómo la interpretación de la ley puede ser causante de injusticias. Por lo tanto, este artículo tiene como objetivo principal analizar los paradigmas de la hermenéutica jurídica en el contexto de la aplicación de normas y la administración de justicia. Para esta investigación se utilizó un enfoque descriptivo, de carácter jurídico, y se realizaron entrevistas a profesores con conocimiento en el área de teoría del derecho de varias universidades de la ciudad de Barranquilla. Es menester destacar que un docente en particular negó categóricamente la existencia de una esencia del derecho, y las opiniones en algunos temas variaron entre los participantes. Sin embargo, se cumplió parcialmente el objetivo ya que se analizaron varios paradigmas hermenéuticos y su influencia en la administración de justicia, se evidenció la importancia de la interpretación más allá de la literalidad de la norma, y se concluyó que existen múltiples interpretaciones en el derecho, reflejadas también en la labor del juez
Efectos de la Inteligencia Artificial en Derechos Laborales y Creativos en la Industria Audiovisual (2020 a 2024)
Get PDFBetween 2020 and 2024, artificial intelligence (AI) had an increasing impact on the Colombian audiovisual industry, generating both opportunities and significant challenges, especially in relation to the labor and creative rights of actors and producers. The use of AI tools for automatic dubbing, synthetic voice generation, and digital face recreation raised concerns about the replacement of voice actors and background actors. Furthermore, the possibility of digitally recreating an actor without their physical presence or consent sparked debates about image rights and the need for new regulations. In addition to the above, cost and production time reductions are associated with the implementation of a set of tools for post-production, translation, and visual effects enhancement, which has led to fewer job opportunities for actors and creatives in the audiovisual industry.Labor and copyright legislation in Colombia revealed gaps regarding the use of AI, leaving many actors and creatives without effective protection against the unauthorized use of their voices, images, or past work. In Colombia, this issue is worsened by the lack of regulations that explicitly govern the relationship between AI use and labor dignity. AI regulation in the workplace must protect employees’ privacy by establishing clear mechanisms that prevent the indiscriminate use of these technologies as tools of control and exclusion.Entre 2020 y 2024, la inteligencia artificial (IA) tuvo un impacto creciente en la industria audiovisual colombiana, generando tanto oportunidades como desafíos significativos, especialmente en relación con los derechos laborales y creativos de actores y productores. El uso de herramientas de IA para doblaje automático, generación de voces sintéticas, y recreación digital de rostros provocó preocupaciones por la sustitución de actores de voz y actores secundarios, además de la posibilidad de recrear digitalmente a un actor sin su presencia física o consentimiento, generó debates sobre el derecho a la imagen y la necesidad de nuevas regulaciones. Además de lo anterior, se asocia la reducción de costos y tiempos de producción, con la implementación de una serie de herramientas para la postproducción, traducción y mejora de efectos visuales, lo que conlleva a menos oportunidades laborales para los actores y creativos en la industria audiovisual. La legislación laboral y de derechos de autor en Colombia mostró vacíos frente al uso de IA, lo que dejó a muchos actores y creativos sin protección efectiva frente al uso no autorizado de sus voces, imágenes o trabajos anteriores. En Colombia es una problemática que se agrava debido a la falta de normativas que regulen explícitamente la relación entre el uso de IA y la dignidad laboral. La regulación de la IA en el ámbito laboral debe proteger la privacidad de los empleados, estableciendo mecanismos claros que eviten el uso indiscriminado de estas tecnologías como herramientas de control y exclusión

Participación Política y Acciones Colectivas como Capital Social en Jóvenes Universitarios en Cartagena, Colombia
Get PDFThe political participation and collective actions of young university students in Cartagena, Colombia, influence the construction of social capital in their communities. Despite low turnout in electoral processes, young people find alternative forms of political expression through digital activism, art, and community activities. These initiatives reinforce the networks of trust and collaboration essential to strengthening the social fabric. Social capital, understood as the connections and norms that promote cooperation, emerges as a key factor in this context. Using a mixed socio-legal approach, we examine how universities, as training centers, play a fundamental role. These institutions foster leadership and offer spaces where students can participate in collective projects, favoring the creation of a more active and engaged citizenry. However, the data also reveal challenges such as distrust in the political system, abstentionism, and widespread apathy among young people, which limits the scope of their impact on society. The study highlights that the incorporation of technology and social media is an effective means of mobilizing young people and adapting to their communication preferences. It also highlights the importance of promoting civic education that not only informs about rights and responsibilities but also fosters a sense of identity and belonging. The researchers conclude that young people are key players in social and political transformation, provided that inclusive strategies are in place to reduce barriers to participation.La participación política y las acciones colectivas de los jóvenes universitarios en Cartagena, Colombia, influyen en la construcción de capital social en sus comunidades. A pesar de la baja participación en procesos electorales, los jóvenes encuentran formas alternativas de expresión política a través del activismo digital, el arte, y actividades comunitarias. Estas iniciativas refuerzan las redes de confianza y colaboración esenciales para fortalecer el tejido social. El capital social, entendido como las conexiones y normas que promueven la cooperación mutua, emerge como un factor clave en este contexto. Mediante un enfoque socio-jurídico mixto, se examina cómo las universidades, como centros de formación, desempeñan un papel fundamental. Estas instituciones fomentan el liderazgo y ofrecen espacios donde los estudiantes pueden participar en proyectos colectivos, favoreciendo la creación de una ciudadanía más activa y comprometida. No obstante, los datos también revelan desafíos como la desconfianza en el sistema político, el abstencionismo y la apatía generalizada entre los jóvenes, lo que limita el alcance de su impacto en la sociedad. El estudio resalta que la incorporación de la tecnología y las redes sociales es un medio eficaz para movilizar a los jóvenes y adaptarse a sus preferencias comunicativas. Asimismo, destaca la importancia de promover una educación cívica que no solo informe sobre derechos y deberes, sino que también fomente el sentido de identidad y pertenencia. Los investigadores concluyen que los jóvenes son actores clave en la transformación social y política, siempre y cuando existan estrategias inclusivas que reduzcan las barreras de participación
Estrategia pedagógica para la incorporación del enfoque de género en la formación de estudiantes de derecho
Get PDFThe research project, titled "Pedagogical Strategy for Incorporating a Gender Perspective in the Training of Law Students," emerges as an academic and social initiative that reflects the university's commitment to social responsibility. This project is part of the exercise of good practice and the social service of the legal profession, promoting comprehensive training in which the gender perspective becomes a fundamental pillar for building a more equitable and just society. The study is based on the need to strengthen legal education from an inclusive and gender-sensitive perspective, recognizing that legal training must go beyond normative knowledge and consider the impact of inequalities in the administration of justice. In this sense, the research gains relevance within the strategic alliance between the University and Society, understood as a bridge that enables social transformation through education. From a pedagogical perspective, this proposal seeks to enhance leadership in human relations and foster inclusive and participatory academic spaces that promote critical thinking in the face of normative and cultural structures that perpetuate gender inequality. The educational project also addresses the need to prepare future lawyers to understand the fundamental role of law in eradicating discrimination and promoting equality.La investigación titulada “Estrategia pedagógica para la incorporación del enfoque de género en la formación de estudiantes de derecho” surge como una iniciativa académica y social que refleja el compromiso con la responsabilidad social universitaria. Este proyecto se enmarca en el ejercicio de las buenas prácticas y el servicio social de la abogacía, promoviendo una formación integral en la que la perspectiva de género se convierte en un pilar fundamental para la construcción de una sociedad más equitativa y justa. El estudio se fundamenta en la necesidad de fortalecer la enseñanza del derecho desde un enfoque inclusivo y con perspectiva de género, reconociendo que la formación jurídica debe ir más allá del conocimiento normativo y considerar el impacto de las desigualdades en la administración de justicia. En este sentido, la investigación cobra relevancia dentro de la alianza estratégica entre la Universidad y la Sociedad, entendida como un puente que permite la transformación social a través de la educación. Desde una visión pedagógica, esta propuesta busca potencializar liderazgos en las relaciones humanas y fomentar espacios académicos incluyentes y participativos donde se promueva el pensamiento crítico frente a las estructuras normativas y culturales que perpetúan la desigualdad de género. Diseño Universal para el Aprendizaje (DUA): una experiencia creada por niños a través de superhéroes
Get PDFThis article presents the results of the systematization of a significant experience based on inclusive pedagogical practices with a focus on Universal Design for Learning (UDL), implemented in the mathematics area with Kindergarten (K5-A) students at a private educational institution in Neiva, Huila. The research was conducted using a qualitative systematization methodology, following the five stages proposed by Óscar Jara, which allowed for an analysis of the experience from the characterization of the group to the evaluation of the implemented practices. The results show that the application of inclusive strategies, adapted to students’ learning styles, fosters their active participation and promotes a more equitable teaching-learning process. It is concluded that enhancing students’ thematic appropriation requires a deeper understanding of their learning mechanisms and their involvement in the design and planning of pedagogical strategies. These findings highlight the ongoing challenges in strengthening inclusive education.
Keywords: Universal Design for Learning (UDL); inclusive pedagogical practices; systematization of experiences; learning styles; inclusive education.El presente artículo sistematiza una experiencia significativa de enseñanza inclusiva fundamentada en el Diseño Universal para el Aprendizaje (DUA)y desarrollada en el grado Kindergarten K5A de una institución educativa privada en Neiva, Huila. Mediante un enfoque cualitativo, se aplicó una metodología de enseñanza por proyectos que integró la participación de 11 estudiantes, dos padres de familia y un docente. La caracterización de estilos de aprendizaje se realizó a través del método VARK de Fleming, complementado con observación participante, entrevistas y diarios de campo. Los resultados evidenciaron una predominancia del estilo kinestésico, seguida por los estilos auditivo y visual. Las estrategias diseñadas permitieron mejorar el aprendizaje de la secuencia numérica del 1 al 69, alcanzando un desempeño sobresaliente por parte de los estudiantes. La sistematización identificó dos categorías emergentes: los desafíos de la educación inclusiva acorde a los estilos de aprendizaje y la creación del DUA con participación activa de los estudiantes. Se concluye que involucrar activamente a los educandos en el diseño de experiencias de aprendizaje mejora su participación, apropiación del conocimiento y bienestar escolar, aportando a una educación inclusiva más efectiva y contextualizada
