The Effects Of A Low-Fat Diet And A Low-Carbohydrate Diet With Aerobic Exercise On Changing Of Lipid Profile
Lifestyle changes become the foundation in primary and secondary prevention of lipid and lipoprotein disorders. The aim of the study was to know the effectiveness of low fat diet and low carbohydrate diet with aerobic exercise toward lipid profile change. Type of experimental research with pre test-post test control group design. The sample of adult women in the city of Denpasar as many as 33 people, aged 30-50 years, IMT 25-30 kg/m2, allocated to 3 groups. Group 1 applied a low-fat diet, group 2 applied a low-carbohydrate diet and a group of 3 controls. Before and after the intervention a blood lipid profile was measured. Changes in blood lipid profile before and after intervention were analyzed by paired t-test. The difference in mean blood lipid profile in all three groups was analyzed by One Way Anova test. Low-fat diet and low-carbohydrate diet can lower total cholesterol and LDL-C significantly (p <0.05). The average decrease in total cholesterol with low fat diet was 16.82 mg/dL and low carbohydrate diet 14.64 mg/dL. Decreased LDL-C with a low-fat diet of 13.36 mg/dL and low-carbohydrate diet of 7.45 mg/dL. There was no significant difference in lipid profile changes between low fat diets compared to low carbohydrate diets (p>0.05). Thus a low-fat diet is as effective as a low-carb diet to improve lipid profile.

Caesarean section and gut microbiota in children
Over the last two decades, the C-section rate has increased worldwide. It is understood that colonization patterns of intestinal microbiota in infant delivery in C-section vary from those that were delivered vaginally. These different microbial pattern and diversity will impact and respond to immune and dysbiosis-related diseases. This article examined the effect of C-section on gut microbiota in children.Recent Findings: Newborns are influenced by various factors, including mode of delivery, feeding, nutrition, hospitalization, antibiotic and host gene. Several studies have shown that infants with C-section have lower Bifidobacterium while others have shown lower abundance of Enterobactericeae and Bacteroides in infants with C-section compared to infants born vaginally. Although the mode of delivery is only one factor that influences infant microbiota composition, studies conclude that reduced microbial exposure during the C-section is important because it can affect dysbiosis several years after birth. Good microbiota is a key source of microbial-driven immune regulation, changes in normal patterns of bacterial colonization can alter the immune development outcome and may predispose to certain immune-related disorders later in life.Summary: The composition and concentrations of intestinal microbiota between vaginally and C-section born infants are significantly different. Among C-section infants, gut microbiota is associated with lower diversity and therefore induces dysbiosis, which can affect immune development and may predispose to some immune disorders, i.e. allergies in particular. Nutritional approach with pre-, probiotics, and/or synbiotics can have a promising effect early in life in preventing gut dysbiosis

Correlation of overweight nutritional status and sleep quality in 16–18 years old teenagers in South Jakarta
Background and Objectives: Overweight nutritional status in adolescents becomes a health problem that continues to require attention. Not only because of its rapidly increasing prevalence, but also its various adverse effects on adolescent health, especially on the quality of sleep. Sleep quality decrease in adolescents can impact their daily performance, especially in learning. This study aimed to investigate the relationship of overweight nutritional status with sleep quality in adolescents aged 16–18 years old in South Jakarta.Method: This cross-sectional design study was done in two public senior high schools in the South Jakarta. A total of 186 students from classes of 2015, 2016, and 2017 with age between 16-18 years old underwent weight and height measurements, determination of BMI and nutritional status using the CDC BMI-for-age chart, as well as filling the Cleveland Adolescent Sleepiness Questionnaire to assess the quality of sleep.Results: The prevalence of overweight was found by 20.43% (14.52% categorized as overweight, 5.91% categorized as obese) with a median value of the questionnaire 40.00 (23.00 to 58.00). Mann-Whitney test found that the p value for the mean difference of the questionnaire's total score to excess weight is 0.783.Conclusion: There was no correlation between the quality of sleep to excess weight in adolescents aged 16–18 years old in South Jakarta
Effect of vitamin D supplementation to prevent acute respiratory tract infection : an evidence-based case report
Background: One of the frequent health problems that regularly occurs in Indonesia, as a tropical country is an acute respiratory tract infection, including influenza. Since immunological benefit of vitamin D already proven, hypothetically, vitamin D can be used as protective agent to prevent influenza or other respiratory tract infections. Objective: This evidence-based case report was focused on the evaluation of protective ability of vitamin D supplementation to prevent influenza or other acute respiratory tract infections.Methods: Literature searching was conducted on PubMed data base and Cochrane Library using the related keyword combinations.Results: Two randomized-clinical trials (RCTs) and a meta-analysis study were fulfilled the eligibility criteria. Vitamin D supplementation did not reduce the incidence of influenza but reduce the incidence of non-influenza infection. High-dose vitamin D supplementation had no effect on the reduction of acute respiratory tract infection incidence. The meta-analysis concluded that vitamin D supplementation reduced the risk for acute respiratory tract infection and the stronger effects occurred on low-levels of vitamin D serum.Conclusion: Vitamin D supplementation may prevent acute respiratory tract infections, especially in subjects with low-levels of vitamin D serum
